"The governor acknowledged that it is highly unlikely he would endorse a similar initiative for more progressive, left-leaning causes..."

"... but added that 'it would not be illegal' for them to exist in public schools. Abbott signed Senate Bill 12 earlier this year, a sweeping state law that banned student clubs with an LGBTQ+ focus...."

From "Texas launches plan to open Turning Point USA chapters in every high school/Republican officials in Oklahoma and Florida have also launched plans to expand the presence of the conservative youth organization founded by Charlie Kirk" (Texas Tribune).

Naturally: "Petitions calling for the removal of the school chapters have also emerged, with some students and parents criticizing the national organization for what they describe as 'racist, homophobic, and sexist hate speech on college campuses across America.' The Southern Poverty Law Center, a civil rights group that tracks extremism, describes Turning Point as an organization with a strategy of sowing fear 'that white Christian supremacy is under attack by nefarious actors, including immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community and civil rights activists.'"

Painfully: "Disclosure: Southern Poverty Law Center has been a financial supporter of The Texas Tribune, a nonprofit, nonpartisan news organization... Financial supporters play no role in the Tribune’s journalism...."

How dishonest is "it would not be illegal" given Senate Bill 12?

SPLC a civil rights group...

Hahahahaha!

Kind of hard to call out dishonesty in a post that suggests SPLC is a civil rights group and the Texas Tribune is non-partisan. Maybe if we all pushed for a smaller government, this wouldn’t be a problem. I’m not going to die on the hill thinking SPLC or Texas Tribune want smaller government.

There has always been a gay club in school, called the drama club.

The government has been promoting degeneracy on behalf of Feminism for decades.

Perhaps the government should stop promoting degeneracy.

It would have been nice to have it promote nothing but leftists and Karens can't have that. If they can't henpeck men who make their coddled lives possible they will have nothing to do.

I believe that there are "progressive, left-leaning causes" beyond the LGBT+ ones.

Special Peculiar Liberal Corporation

This is about separation of cult (e.g. progressive sects) and state. This is not about the transgender spectrum (e g. homosexual orientation), but about the transsocial spectrum including Diversity (e.g. racism, sexism, ageism, feminism), simulant conversion/corruption therapy, homosexual grooming, etc.

It's hard to believe that the SPLC is still pointed to as your standard for All that is Good and Pure in the year of 2025. They've got a hideous track record of muckraking.

Texas, under Abbott, seems to be flailing around in all directions. Meanwhile, it's the number one home for the Muslim Brotherhood in America. After Dearborn, MI, that is. But, let's worry about the Gay community.

Gay is a joyful state of mind.

Pride is a parade of lions.

The transgender spectrum has been divided by the politically congruent ("=") into exclusive blocs under the Diversity umbrella, with their own banners and rhetoric targeting captive audiences, particularly children in schools, scouts, churches, etc.

Yes, the SPLC is a civil rights group. That they are tells you what the term “civil rights group” actually means these days.

Yes Sir, that's what I want ! I want the government to focus their limited energies on getting Turning Point into the high schools ! Yes, Sir ! Never mind about all those pesky issues you were elected on....... You know, health care, the economy, so forth.

Mid terms are going to be a big disappointment if this is the level of game the Republicans are bringing.

I tried to find out what Senate Bill 12 actually says. The Tribune links don't tell you. As far as I can tell, it requires parental consent for LGBTQ clubs and allows parental opt-out for LGBTQ "instruction." No banning.
So nothing dishonest about "...it would not be illegal..." Presumably he was responding to a question claiming that Bill 12 makes such clubs illegal.

The ACLU - thru litigation - is attempting to force a School in Elizabeth, CO - to keep pornography and other sexually explicit material on the shelves in the public School library.

the leftwing media(D-soviet) of course lie and say it's evil conservatives attempting to burn books.

Just like the "Don't Say Gay" bill that they never actually quoted. When the Lying Left (BIRP) Media want you to know facts they give you the facts. When they withhold the facts from a story it is because they are writing propaganda not NEWS.

But only every time, to quote the long lost Drago.

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

Just apply that standard to any Trump story. If they don't produce the quote or the facts, be wary. Shit, just be wary anyway. They are such lying sons of bitches.

MJB--agreed. And the search engines steer you to the MSM spin and away from the facts.

I'm not sure "tracks" is the right verb. It implies following, but where extremism is concerned, the SPLC grift is way out in front.

Gotta play the long game too. Push back against the long march through the institutions.

Plus without Abbott's Illegal Bus Lines, we might never have gotten enough attention on that issue, which might have meant no Trump 47. So I tend to respect his judgment. CC, JSM

There was once a "Reagan Project" that aimed at naming something in every state after Ronald Reagan. It's better that these things develop organically, rather than as a result of organization and lobbying.

Not to infer that TP USA is a grooming gang. A little GOD never hurt anybody. Besides. They're not pushing it down your throat like LGBTQ.

This makes me a little happier every day that i do not live in Texas. Get rid of Abbott and Paxton and maybe the state will be marginally livable. Get a good person in like Talacico or Crockett and people may even become "normal" instead of "christians" who are not christian at all, like the peeps at TPUSA

Oh yeah? Tell that to Joan of Arc or the millions, of people killed for belonging to the wrong denomination. Heck, the Thirty Years War wiped out almost half the population of Germany.

I mean it is difficult to find a Christian corollary* to the typical muslim killer shouting "allahu akbar" before doing his god's work.

Just post one example for comparison. I'll wait. It must be easy since you bitch about christians so much.

Mike (MJB Wolf): The Crusades are the (more than one time) Christians got militarily expeditionary against Muslims, but Western Civ was built on defense against Muslim imperialism, from the Gates of Vienna to Lepanto to Tours to Roncevaux Pass and on and on. This history of defense could roll all the way forward to the little girl with the knives recently in Britain.
