BONUS: Arianna Grande takes the Macauley Culkin role in a "Home Alone" takeoff... and really looks the part:
ADDED: I watched that second video after posting it, and I just want to add that I don't think they'd have gone through with it if they hadn't already put so much money and effort into producing it. The idea of beginning with a lovely Christmas celebration and descending into mayhem calls to mind the Conan O'Brien Christmas party and its horrible aftermath.

Hilarious!
And no, it doesn't.
It is interesting that the audience laughed at just the depiction of Ariana Grande as Kevin without any accompanying jokes. It is not too long ago, among the left at least, that it was considered taboo to laugh at a person cross-dressing, as that was transphobic. It feels like a sign of the culture changing on the left.
Watching an AI-created voice sing while this actress lip syncs isn't my idea of entertainment.
Everything you see on TV is fake, including the news, the weather and the sports scores.
Autotune turns everything into crap
yow! Creepy creeping in from yesterday.
Didn’t Laslo sketch this out yesterday in the Famous post?
After the war the only survivors will be Cher and Keith Richards. And Keith is getting a little frail.
The lip-synching is awful too.
Road to Heaven Chinese propaganda lip-synched but hitting the notes without autotune crap.
I just watched the video. Laslo’s sketch was way less elaborate.
"The idea of beginning with a lovely Christmas celebration and descending into mayhem calls to mind the Conan O'Brien Christmas party and its horrible aftermath."
No.
That skit only works if you've seen the movie, which is 35 years old. I wonder how many people didn't get the joke?
Nothing says Christmas like a has been tramp with too much plastic surgery and a handful of gay dancers.
I dunno, once the chain saw came down, I turned it off.
Cher in Suspect (1987) is good. There's her talent.
Liam Neeson badly overacts his part, is the only flaw.
"That skit only works if you've seen the movie, which is 35 years old. I wonder how many people didn't get the joke?"
I totally understood the joke. Have seen the movie. That's not my problem. I'm simply observing that the joke would not have been chosen if it had not been chosen before the Reiner murders. And other recent murders. Maybe try to help the younger people who are caught up in popular culture that depicts bloody murder.
Live auto tune used to be called lip sinking. Pass the Milli Vanilli please. Those two were way before their time.
"Nothing says Christmas like a has been tramp with too much plastic surgery and a handful of gay dancers."
It's a TERRIBLE Christmas song. They may have deliberately tried to make an anti-Christmas song. But Cher is 79 years old. She's a free-standing American monument. I support celebrating Cher. What did Cher ever do to you?
Lip synching is fraud and a ripoff of the entire audience. Shame.
According to Cher, she introduced the world to AutoTune. An abomination! AutoTune and Rap have wrecked modern music.
I just I realized the full implication of the famous post. Remember when Cher was perplexed as to why the Kardashian’s were a thing?
Anybody, literally anybody can be famous.
Read the comments to the SNL cold open. It is another Trump skit. Sad!
We are so screwed.

I think Home Alone is considered a staple Christmas movie now, so there is a good chance that even the younger folks have seen it at some point. That being said I don't think many people under 30 watch SNL.
I'm simply observing that the joke would not have been chosen if it had not been chosen before the Reiner murders.
Actually, they probably wrote that skit this week. That's how they do the show, as I understand it.
Well he was mute in that role, he had to over gesture
"It is another Trump skit."
Trump also made a cameo in Home Alone 2, which I believe he asked for as part of a condition of that movie being filmed in one of his hotels.
But it is EXCELLENT plastic surgery.
Cher does move well and has good energy for someone who is 79.
Ariana reminds me of Karen Carpenter.
"What did Cher ever do to you?"
Dumped Sonny.

It existed before Cher, but it was used more carefully to put peoples voices on pitch without creating obvious artifacts. When she put it in "Believe", the artifacts were obvious, and, in fact, done deliberately.

About 3 min. in.
"You can never be too rich or too thin."
I think that's attributed to Wallis Simpson. That quote is so stupid, I can't believe anybody actually said it. Have you not seen photographs of people in death camps? Have you not seen videos of people starving in Africa? People with anorexia look awful.
Arianna talks about "body shaming" and how she wants to be free of it. But it's Hollywood and celebrity culture that makes women do insane things to their bodies.
Cher calls Imus with a donation for veterans Feb 28 2006
Then again… has AI got so good we can’t tell that sketch was all AI? 😯
The most popular Reddit sub right now guessing if a video is AI or not.
Oh to be 79 again. So full of life and vitality.......Cher apparently has one of those faces that can absorb a lot of plastic surgery without getting pulled out of shape. Jane Fonda is also in excellent shape. Proof positive that there is no God, or, anyway, no just God.....That skit was very funny. It might even be funnier because of the Reiner tragedy. When darkness becomes visible, put a funny red nose on it.

"They may have" is a powerful argument. For the rest, she IS a tramp with two much plastic surgery. Oh, and a stupid lefty.

They both look like large mouth bass.

Nah. What was I, 14? Never saw the movie. Never heard of it or Sam Peckinpaw. Hilarious!
What Fritz said (dumped Sonny).
Heavenly Road that I'm pretty sure is lipsynched too, with the orchestra playing the song and her singing the song but in time to the recorded version that you and they are hearing.
Production budget at SNL sure has increased since the 70's.
She a stupid Leftist. That's what. Won't watch the offered clip. Sonny Bono lives!
The "Home Alone" sketch perhaps took its inspiration from a Monty Python sketch, "Sam Peckinpah's 'Salad Days,'" in which a picnic scene from a popular, light-hearted British musical of the 1950s degenerates into the director Sam Peckinpah's trademark gore.

Donald Trump: “I took cognitive tests. By the way, not easy. The first question is like what is this and they show a lion, giraffe, fish and a hippopotamus. And they say which is the giraffe.”
This is an actual quote.
He’s bragging about being able to differentiate between animals.
Bury me now…
another hard pass from me.
Cher's second song last night was "Run Run Rudolph." Nonwithstanding Hardin's Chicom example, I don't think it was lip synched, because the SNL house band backed her. And there were a couple of times where her voice sounded a bit strained. Kind of like when I recently saw Chrissie Hynde. Definitely a better show than the first song. The band, backup singers, dancers, and audience were all into it.
But you can't blame Cher for making postmodern schlock. So many of her classics are no longer PC:
Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves - you'd have to change it to Roma-Sinti, Unhoused Persons, and Wealth Redistributors. Doesn't flow the same.
Halfbreed - Person of Two Ethnicities?
I Got You Babe - right out; can't claim ownership over another person.
Chastity's Song (Band of Thieves) - slut shaming and wealth-redistributor shaming!
Dark Lady - sounds a bit racist. And full of gypsy references again.
The Shoop Shoop Song - cultural appropriation of Motown.
Etc. CC, JSM
Kak-A -pHony
with your chromic and demented form of TDS - you might want to take a cognitive test.
FYI and FWIW, the "Home Alone" skit is very similar to the "Final Destination" franchise. Those movies all have at least a half-dozen scenes like that, played for both horror and comedic effect.
“Bury me now…”
You got the time, I have the dump truck, kak.
I saw Chrissie Hynde and The Pretenders in 1981 at the Castlebar music festival. It was a tiny thing in a small town in the west of Ireland. I was convinced she looked directly at me, and as small as the crowd was, she probably did. Also playing were Iain Drury and the Blockhead and The Undertones.
I had to cleanse my palate and so I listened to a song from “If/Then” by Idina Menzel.
KAK:
Democratic Democracy consists of Democrats cheating, and their corrupt Soviet KGB Media- lying.
"A five-years-too-late admission that Georgia illegally certified 315,000 ballots in the 2020 election, handing Joe Biden a “win” by just 11,779 votes, is not a small detail. It is a historic breach of democratic accountability. The fact that President Trump eventually won reelection does not erase what was done. He was vilified, canceled, and relentlessly prosecuted for stating what has now been acknowledged as true all along. If this passes without consequence, it will eventually be looked back on as the moment when inaction, not the wrongdoing itself, became the defining failure of democracy."
wow - your side sure is corrupt. Stay religious & loyal.
Cher's performance wasn't entertaining other than for those morbidly curious about how she'd pull off trying to be sexy pop star at age 79.
Kevin McAlister did not wear lip gloss and eye liner.
fail.
That obvious auto tune sound at the beginning was awful. Why do they do that?
The Home Alone sketch made me laugh, but not nearly as much as the Washington's Dream sketch from a few years ago.
Only watched a second of cher. The dark stage was smart - a great way to hide the botox machine that pumps and drains.
The Collective left in "entertainment" are so devoid of fresh ideas - they are obsessed with lame re-creations.
FAIL.
"Actually, they probably wrote that skit this week. That's how they do the show, as I understand it."
It was prefilmed, quite obviously and with all those special effects, it needed more lead time. The live part of the show is what you're thinking about. Yes, they do that last minute. I am virtually certain they would not have come up with this idea after the murders and decided to use it.
"If I could turn back time..."
SNL wasn't daring enough to base a skit on Ariana's 2021 donutgate scandal?
"Remember when Cher was perplexed as to why the Kardashian’s were a thing?"
I remember thinking Cher was an Indian, rather than an Armenian. When I found that out I imagined that she could be the Kardashian's godmother. Kim is a big fan of style icon Cher.
"But Cher is 79 years old ..."/i>
Wait ... I thought she is eternal? Isn't the title of this post saying Cher is eternal?
The fact of the matter is that "Cher" ... whatever that was back when Sonny was the successful musician ... is dead. This isn't Cher.
The "voice" you are hearing is computer-generated. It's not real. And it's not Cher. The person you're seeing is wearing so much make-up, wig and botox as to no longer be considered a human being. She has to visit the morgue to get read for every performance to get her embalming fluid topped off before every show.
And she can't sync up her lips to the computer singing. It's pathetic and amounts to elder abuse.
Cher is very ternal.
off
I recall Cher being hot in "Moonstruck." Otherwise, her voice and her songs are awful. She always seemed like a female impersonator to me (except in Moonstruck).
Whoa! I thought Cher was on her last legs. Glad to see she's upright and performing.
That second video was awful.
That’s a great bill, old and slow @9:16AM!
Yeah Cher. Good she's still groovin' at 79. We should all be so lucky. But...cher.
I always thought Cher was Italian, probably because she was married to Sonny. Anyway, she disappeared from my radar in the 70s fairly quickly.
"Kevin McAlister did not wear lip gloss and eye liner.
fail."
One of the weird things about "Home Alone" is that Kevin actually does look like he's wearing lipstick. (Watch it in high resolution and you'll see.)
Obviously, movie actors use makeup to look better under bright lights, but with some of them (mostly men and children), it's supposed to end up looking as if they aren't using any. Sometimes that doesn't work out. So Ariana's look is closer to the original than you might think.
Chers dancers Bloods, or Crips?
Cher was never any good since she left Sonny.
That home alone clip does look creepy
On The (late lamented) Man Show there was a woman who looked and dressed like Cher, and whom they called Cher. But she showed her age and had a huge gut.
..."Nothing says Christmas like a has been tramp with too much plastic surgery and a handful of gay dancers...."
She's multi-faceted, so don't forget the gypsies and thieves.
