"Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was warned about massive fraud in a pandemic food-aid program for children, yet he failed to act."

"Instead, whistleblowers who raised concerns faced retaliation. Because of Governor Walz’s negligence, criminals — including Somali terrorists — stole nearly $1 billion from the program while children suffered.”

Said House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.), quoted in "
Treasury, House panel launch probes into Tim Walz’s handling of $1B food aid fraud — and they could make criminal referrals" (NY Post).

I’m dubious about the “children suffered” bit. That’s probably bullshit. We’re in the midst of a childhood obesity epidemic. The “school lunch” sacred mantra of the DNC is a money launderer’s dream. School lunches are trash, nutritional nightmares. Nobody should eat them. Training for diabetes.

Whether it's Comer's fault or not, I beginning to think a "Comer investigation" with "possible criminal referrals" is a kiss of life rather than death.

Obviously, if $1,000 million was stolen; thats $1 billion that didn't get to the kids. And kids were hurt.

I look in the mirror and wonder how it came to be that I no longer expect anyone except token players to pay any fines or serve any time. In an age of open lawfare, you'd think that actual crimes might be prosecuted aggressively. I really am astonished at how cynical I've become, but I guess the bigger question is why it took so long.

Jess said...

There was a huge number of public employees complaining, and being told to keep quiet. The fact they're not quiet any longer tells more than some realize. Those involved with trying to keep a lid on the activities will be prosecuted long before the governor, and those that tried to expose the corruption will be witnesses during the prosecution.

He was perfectly acceptable to the moneymen during the campaign, because this massive fraud made him easy to control as long as they retained power.

Then Trump won and they couldn't have this scandal coming up during the mid-terms.

Once they do, they will instead start "mandating" shit.

During the George Floyd riots ignited in Minneapolis, the city burned, the police station burned, entire city blocks burned, people lost their properties, businesses, lives. And Tim Walz kept huddled in a closet somewhere for two days before coming out and saying/doing nothing.

I was shocked at the lack of leadership and direction, both by the Mayor of that city and by Walz, the Governor. Imagine my shock when I saw that Minnesotans reelected both Tim Walz and Jacob Frey.

Walz was who the Democrats decided was the best man- after looking at their bench around the country- to show how masculine and regular Democrats can be.

What we know for sure after time spent watching Tim Walz, and now reading these reports: We know how utterly fake and corrupt Democrats are, in every possible way.

My local newspaper has a story on this today. The leftists in the comment section are not even pretending to be upset by the fraud, nor the fact the fraud is taxpayer support of terrorist groups in Somalia. They only shriek "But Trump!"

I thought that smart politics would be to shriek "But Trump is bad, and look at us to see how much better we are!" But our leftists are not even pretending to be "how much better." They just openly commit crime, fraud, support evil, and scream OrangeManBad as if it somehow is justification for their own crimes, and also as if it makes people want to vote for Democrats.

Why would anyone who is convinced that OrangeManBad want to vote for Democrats who seem determined to be even worse than whatever crimes the left claims Trump is guilty of?

It doesn't matter what Peachy thinks. She is just a small subset of people who have been wrong about everything since 2012 when those idiots supported Romney.

If the Republican Party does not come out and say they are going to stop sending money to countries like Ukraine and Israel and they are instead going to use that money to help Americans who cannot afford a home instead they will lose.

This is the burning issue right now in this country and everything else is a distraction. The midterms are going to be a bloodbath if we are still sending money to Israel and homes still cost 15 years of average income.

Calling everyone that says this an anti-semite will just make it worse for Republicans.

Democrats at least give the money they are stealing to their supporters and can count on those votes.

Enigma said...

@Jersey Fled: Bet you didn’t know that those making 4X the poverty level were eligible for those Obamacare subsidies we heard so much about recently.

That's not too shocking, as 4x the poverty level is only $62K for single person or $85K per year for a couple. The recent shutdown was an effort to subsidize healthcare ABOVE that level. Democrats were targeting well-to-do retirees under age 65 (when Social Security begins this is moot). Democrats want a wedge issue for likely older (white; Republican) voters for the next election cycle.

Backdoor universal health care. The poor get it for free. Those age 65+ get huge SS subsidies. Disabled people get it for free. Working people mostly get it from their employers. College students get it from schools.

Not at all. The United States is the most powerful nation on Earth, politically and economically, and is therefore the target of all manner of scams and scammers, private and public. It is ironic that we are so pitifully vulnerable to foreign and domestic manipulation, as a consequence of our peculiar history, and our bizarre method of governance.
You can make the case, that foreign governments have an obligation to their citizenry, to make the most of their interactions with the superpower, by whatever means avail. But that does not mean that we have an obligation to assist them in subverting our national interests in favor of their own.

Progressive liberals consider themselves to be "smarter" than everyone else, to be so "privileged" by merit of skin color and college diploma, and feel "people of color" need every excuse and special permission towards "advancement" - leading to a whole lot of ineptitude due to prioritizing DEI "skin color" preferences over merit, competence, and ethical standards.
