I've been present in the Congress as representatives of both parties rose to give insincere encomiums to the greatness of their departing colleague. Not Trump's style. Reminds me of the Roman Empire.
You said tariffs would crash the economy. They didn't. You said tariffs would spike inflation. The opposite happened. You said car prices would skyrocket. Sticker prices went up 1.1% You said it would kill Wal-Mart. Their CEO said "no effect."
Now you say Christmas prices will be higher. Probably not, but it is worth noting you skipped over Thanksgiving, which is a bright sign: the old "typical basket of goods" year-to-year comparison is out and 2025 meals will be 25% LESS THAN last year. That is one benefit of having a POTUS who can walk talk and think, unlike the last guy.

"Investments" or the building blocks for Marxism in America? How many companies will AOC and the Squad "buy" when they get back in power. Trump is a Trojan Horse for Marxism. When the Dems get back in control we are so so fucked. Thanks, Donnie!
"People blame us for the shutdown." What people? Chuck Schumer? Everyone knows it's the Democrats who have repeatedly voted against the bill that would reopen the government.
Someday a long-serving congressman will give us the inside scoop on how in the heck Pelosi kept the Dems in line for so long -- probably her greatest achievement. I'd love to know the arm-twisting, threats, dirt, extortion, work perks, re-election $$, etc., she was able to employ to such great effect to keep that unruly mob together.
Trillions in investments announced from corporations around the world. NASDAQ up by 50% Billions flowing into the Treasury from tariffs. Inflation back to a low and healthy 2-3% Tax cuts made permanent, etc. Of course Democrat run sources will argue with the exact numbers, but no way even a fraction of that is "running the economy" into the ground. Just the opposite.
On a personal anecdotal level, my company and those we do business with are swamped with new orders from development across the country. We haven't been this busy for a decade. My employees are raking in performance bonuses at levels they've never seen before, and my customers are scrambling to find manufacturers who are not at capacity.
"Someday a long-serving congressman will give us the inside scoop on how in the heck Pelosi kept the Dems in line for so long -- probably her greatest achievement."
Pretty sure most politicians on both sides of the aisle are managed through blackmail. Did Dennis Hastert become Speaker of the House "despite" being a disgusting pedophile or because he was a pedo that could be blackmailed and controlled? Was it a feature or a bug.
Why are so many GOP congressmen so obviously closet cases? Is that a feature or a bug? I think America runs on blackmail.
And of course you whining lefties come up with absolutely nothing but speculative predictions that the good economy won't last forever. Kak seems to believe that government shutdown problems are somehow an indictment of Trump's handling of the economy. And I thought Gadfly was the dumb one.
“I like how he didn't put anything sexist in there.”
It’s interesting how a word that didn’t even exist 50 years ago is now considered the worst of all slurs. Next to racist, of course, another sin of recent vintage.
These claims about prices supposedly skyrocketing because of tariffs -- it's all kind of anecdotal (and alarmist), isn't it? Clearly, we have experienced prices soaring like they did under Biden. Slight uptick now, since the spring? Sure, perhaps. But hardly an economic crisis.
“Tuesday's election results marked the end of the Trump coalition. Trump will not be on the ballot again and his cult of personality will not be replicated. Marginal Trump voters like independents, Latinos, and black men voted Democrat this time, showing they are not enduring Trump or Republican voters. By this time next year, Trump will be a lame duck.”
If Democrats win the House and Senate in 2026, there are already a number of things Trump can be impeached for, but it may be better to keep him as a lame duck. The only good thing about impeaching him would be he couldn’t pull another Jan.6th.
Employment slumped in Oct 2025 report because NGOs and non-profit/think tank agencies are losing their federal funding, and all those gender study grads are losing their jobs. Good riddance. White-collar employment college-grad job-numbers have long contained make-work do-gooder policy wonkette positions for white collar upper-middle class parents' liberal arts grad children. Don't make anything, don't sell anything, don't meaningfully contribute to American economic other than consumption of consumer goods and service via their middle-management scale wages.
Bagoh, I’m glad business is good for you — that’s always encouraging to hear. But a few of those points deserve a closer look.
Much of that corporate investment wave was announced before Trump returned to office, and a lot of it’s tied to the CHIPS and Inflation Reduction Acts that companies are still building out. Tariff revenues aren’t new money — they’re paid by U.S. importers and ultimately passed on to American consumers. And while inflation has cooled, it was already trending down well before January.
I didn’t say things are terrible or that Trump has ran it in the ground- the economy’s resilient and it usually is after Democrats pick up the pieces. It’s not as simple as giving all credit or all blame to one man. But I am arguing that Trump’s policies- tariffs, immigration, slashing safety nets, and shifting more wealth to the top is an economic storm brewing.
Ronald J. Ward said... Sounds to me like the Trump and Walmart Thanksgiving message is;
“We wish all Americans a very Happy Thanksgiving. In these challenging economic times, we’ve teamed up to offer a simple solution to the high cost of your Thanksgiving dinner.
Just eat less.”
No, that was last year. This year it costs 25% less for the same amount, so you can buy more, or spend less while buying the same
Trump has deteriorated markedly over the last few years. He now looks and sounds like a very old man.
It's reasonable to say now that Trump is post-peak and indeed Tuesday's election results marked the end of the Trump coalition. A key reason is that Trump will not be on the ballot again and so those 'out-of-the-woodwork' Trump voters in past presidential elections will no longer be voting for him. And given that Trump is a cult of personality, no other Trump-like candidate is likely to recreate Trump's MAGA coalition.
Additionally, Tuesday's results showed that marginal Trump voters including many independents, Latinos, and black men voted Democrat this time, proving that they were not enduring Republican voters.
The combination of lower propensity Trump voters not voting, and marginal Trump voters swinging back to Democrats spells doom for Republicans in next year's midterm elections. As it stands now, it looks a lot like how 2018 turned out for the GOP. And if there is another blue wave in 2026, with Democrats likely taking control of the House and possibly even the Senate, Trump will be a lame duck the rest of his presidency, with little political power and a lot of pushback from Congress.
Most people will disagree with me, but I see this as the most hopeful sign that he will cave to end the shutdown by blaming the Senate Republicans. He's gonna need scapegoats anyway for the midterm debacle that's staring at him.

Fair enough Bagho & Greg but the textbook tribal allegiance overpowering reasoning looked awfully hard to crack. Here’s a shot;
Growth is weakening. Surveys and forecasts suggest modest growth, around 1–2% real GDP for 2025 — much slower than the long-term trend.
Consumer sentiment is dropping, reaching its lowest levels in years, which could foreshadow weaker spending and investment.
The job market is showing cracks: private reports indicate job cuts and a slowdown in hiring.
The federal budget/fiscal side is a concern from high national debt.
And there’s just no rational argument that tariffs, immigration round ups and the big ugly bill will not lead to higher costs.
The Jim Cramer of Althouse blog has some valuable news.

The shutdown "may have caused lasting damage to federal operations."
He says that like it's a bad thing.
Pelosi was a crook. She also fantasized about killing Russians in 2022 and helped shovel a couple hundred billion$ to keep a war going that was none of our business.
Not only made zillions in the stock market due to insider knowledge, she was given zillions by big donors.
Classless and immoral. Glad to see her go.
Way too late. What an evil grifter she was.
I could list plenty of positive, even amazing data points like all the investments and trade deals, but you know that stuff, right?
NASDAQ up by 50%
Billions flowing into the Treasury from tariffs.
Inflation back to a low and healthy 2-3%
Tax cuts made permanent, etc.
I see the venomous reptiles have crawled out from under their rock condos… scattering their snake scat.
“I like how he didn't put anything sexist in there.”
Won the thread before the thread began.
DeeDee DooDoo
AOC would read Trump's Truth Social post and interpret it as an indication that Trump wants to sleep with Pelosi.
Probably the highlight of Pelosi's rule was lying about J6, tearing up TRump's SOTU speech on camera, and 2 partisan impeachments based on nothing.
Actually she legally made a fortune in the Stock Market. Congress has exempted themselves from insider trading laws. It's good to be King (or Queen).
She had enough Botox in her to smooth out George Washington's face on Mount Rushmore.
My Christmas wish is this is the last we hear of her but I suspect she and Colbert won’t go quietly
The talk about Cheney's passing made me wonder if Pelosi will get the full rotunda send-off. I hope not. She was a toxic influence in politics.
Mafia princess, Tammany Hall descendent, San Fransicko's queen regent, Nancy sure leaves a career legacy that won't hold up to the scrutiny of time.
Yes, good job not being misogynistic for a one sentence rant.
Donnie also managed not to rape any kids while making that statement.
My oh my, how the bar has been lowered.
"The only good thing about impeaching him would be he couldn’t pull another Jan.6th."
That's not possible without Pelosi there, and that's according to her.
Kaki,
How is president trump enriching himself?
He was worth @$9bn in 2015 when he announced.
Worth @$4bn now.
Strange way to enrich oneself

Ronald ward,
I was talking to an director from Puerto Ricos economic development office about my article on reshoring.
He tolde some of the big reshoring projects started in Trump 1. Then they went semi-dormant jnder brandon
Going ahead full bore now

Sounds to me like the Trump and Walmart Thanksgiving message is;
“We wish all Americans a very Happy Thanksgiving.
In these challenging economic times, we’ve teamed up to offer a simple solution to the high cost of your Thanksgiving dinner.
Just eat less.”
No, that was last year. This year it costs 25% less for the same amount, so you can buy more, or spend less while buying the same
"No, that was last year. This year it costs 25% less for the same amount, so you can buy more, or spend less while buying the same"
You can't really expect honesty from leftards.
Ray is just not that bright
This thread is so chock full of stupidity, I'm losing brain cells trying to scroll through it.
Let's see the next post.
“This year it costs 25% less for the same amount, so you can buy more, or spend less while buying the same”
No. There are 15 items in this year's Walmart Thanksgiving dinner. In 2024 there were 22 items.
Most people will disagree with me, but I see this as the most hopeful sign that he will cave to end the shutdown by blaming the Senate Republicans. He's gonna need scapegoats anyway for the midterm debacle that's staring at him.
If Republicans kill the Filibuster, they sail to Victory for many years to come. If they don’t, DISASTER waiting to happen! ~Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

This shutdown will forever be known as the Trump shutdown. He and Republicans own it. The majority of Americans see what is going on.
I've noted turkey prices at two stores so far. Both under $1.00/lb. One of them for Butterballs. Last year the main course cost more.
I spent >$150 at BJ's in one purchase, so later this month I'll get a "free" turkey. I'll checking the other stores I frequent for similar deals.
Why so many lefty trolls on this particular thread?
Is Pelosi being generous with her stock markets “winnings”?
This shutdown will forever be known as the Trump shutdown. He and Republicans own it.
Only among the TDS sufferers, and other sub-90 IQ individuals.
The majority of Americans see what is going on.
Unhappily for Democrats, they certainly do.
Why so much desperation behind the voices here trying to convince everyone that their victory over Trump is assured?
Because they know that normal people aren't interested in what Democrats are trying to sell them.
Tearing up the president's state of the union address -- is that something that ever happened before?
Stenchy Pelosi.
The Wicked Witch of the West has left the chamber, with a barrel full of gold.

There's a "Turkey Shoot" at the club this Sunday. No. We don't actually shoot turkeys, Inga. Frozen turkeys are the prize. With any luck it will be too cold and all the really good shooters will stay home.

Are you stupid, or just dishonest?
Dems are filibustering, therefore the Dems are the ones doing the shutdown.
No, they are not going to get ANYTHING extra for ending their hostage taking act of filibustering the CR.
If you care about people not getting SNAP, tell the Dems to stop filibustering the CR.
If you care about Feds not getting paid, tell the Dems to stop filibustering the CR.
If you won't tell the Dems to stop filibustering the CR, then YOU own the shutdown, and need to STFU about any complaints you have as to its effects.
Because you don't get to whine about the bad effects of the policies you support
