"We’re not entirely sure what’s going on but it looks like possibly severe CIRS and a LOT of bad luck. Or we’re getting spiritually attacked. Or both...."

"To be perfectly honest, I think a lot of this is spiritual.... It's been one thing after another in an otherworldly type of way...."

Writes Jordan Peterson's daughter, Mikhaila, at X:

Sad news about Peterson. The last time he became this ill; he had to travel to Russia for treatment. That doesn't seem an option this time.

It's seemed to me for a long time that if there was ever a mismatch between the man and the need, this is it. For Peterson, from the Great White Unpopulated North, with his unfortunate speaking voice and deeply held reserve, to be thrust into the international spotlight - and of all things, over a decision of his individual conscience - has to be a constant struggle for him.

I know his fame has had benefits; he acknowledges them. But the costs have been very high indeed.

Best of luck to him.

Sad news. It seems that, with rare exception, the brighter the star, the faster it burns out. So many examples around.

Awful news. Dust and mold are killers of vitality and initiators of inflammation. It sounds worse than any torture devised by man. I hope he recovers and returns to his bully pulpit.

So many people waste so much time and energy going thru "stuff".
Hire someone in a hazmat suit and get a roll-off dumpster. None of this "stuff" we all accumulate and store, is worth destroying your health.

I hope he is in the US for treatment.
Canada's health care system is lacking. ... esp if your illness is serious.

Gemini AI Says:

How gut dysbiosis relates to CIRS:
Leaky Gut: Gut dysbiosis can weaken the tight junction proteins that form the gut lining.
Translocation of Toxins: A weakened gut barrier allows gut-derived bacterial products, such as lipopolysaccharides (LPS), to enter the bloodstream.
Systemic Inflammation: The presence of these microbial metabolites in the circulation triggers a systemic inflammatory response.
Primary Causes vs. Contributing Factors:
Primary Triggers: CIRS is primarily triggered by exposure to specific biotoxins, such as those from water-damaged buildings (mold), tick-borne infections, or harmful algal blooms.
Contributing Factors: Diet and gut dysbiosis are often considered contributing factors that can increase susceptibility to, or worsen, CIRS. A diet high in fats and carbohydrates, for instance, can promote dysbiosis and inflammation, creating a cycle that makes it harder to combat the initial biotoxin exposure.
In summary: Gut dysbiosis is not the initial trigger for CIRS, but it can create a state of chronic systemic inflammation and increase susceptibility, making the condition worse and harder to resolve.

Wait, I thought he was on that all-meat or Paleo diet and felt fabulous? What happened to that?

Beef, salt, and water. That’s it. Since 2018.

Did I undo my italico?

Whew, good. My comment was just about "paleo" <> just meat - or shouldn't, at any rate, based on the teeth of our paleolithic ancestors. No big whoop.

“ with his unfortunate speaking voice”

Peterson has a very elite University of Toronto accent, that is the most posh accent to have in Canada outside of Quebec. I wonder how many times he has been offered suicide as a way to cure his health issues.

My mother and I are moving in a few weeks to a newly constructed home 70 miles to the west of Oak Ridge. I am not going to be going through her and my late father's enormous hoard of stuff; and this is partly for exactly that reason- I don't want to stir up mold and dust. I will hire people to empty the house when we have moved.

Both of my parents were borderline hoarders- I managed to put an end to the endless collection of useless stuff when I moved in to help care for my father in 2011 but my mother has actively opposed any removal to date and I gave up trying about 10 years ago.

His meat only fiber free diet likely left his gut more vulnerable to the CIRS attack.

Given the state of the world and his role, spiritual attack seems likely.

He's nuts. I enjoyed his book, as did my son, but he seems to have gone off the deep end.

People with extreme diets seem to go downhill fast medically.

"Spiritual Attack" is another way to avoid personal responsibility.

You're right, Howard. I renovate old homes. I use extreme precautions but have still wrecked my body. I use a cannister mask and a clean suit duck-taped to my face and bifocal safety glasses, the greatest invention ever (I wish I had a picture). I'm innoculated for Hep A because I've sawzalled enough needles out of septic pipes. I'm laying a better vapor barrier this week: they have a new kind of liquid nails that never cracks and doesn't off-gas at all. My house sits very well for drainage. This week is going to seriously suck ass, but not as much as finding a crawlspace/HVAC duct contractor.

I do need to replace my headlamp. The only color not dead on it attracts frogs. If I look up, they are surrounding me, staring at my forehead with sheer reptile love in their eyes. I don't look up. Ever.

I don't preserve historical documents anymore: they give me nosebleeds. But surely Peterson has plenty of money to make his house mold-free and build a separate building for his collection of old books and papers. No books in your bedroom! No books near the bedroom! Feather dusters with a shop vac to clean the bookshelves. Pack books tight on shelves. Wipe down the dogs after every walk. Puro Air Purifier. Pec plumbing.

Never go outside.

Or maybeI just watched Julianne Moore too many times in the creepy film, Safe.
