Iran: They have no air defense. Their military leadership is gone, and anyone stepping up has 24 hours to live. They now have lost the one strategic deterrence they hoped to create. They shot their load on ballistic missiles. Their proxies in Syria, Yemen, and Gaza are gone. Everyone else in the region either hates them or doesn't care.
Russia: Iran is a trade partner, but the rest of the world has Russia sanctioned. Maybe Putin could use this as an excuse to do more than Ukraine, but with what? His strategic bombers are but a handful now and sitting in the open far away from Ukraine and Europe. They wouldn't attack the US directly, because they have no reason to do so.
China: This is the only country capable and perhaps willing to use this attack for some purpose. Perhaps they could claim if they US could once and for all deal with Iran, China could move on Taiwan. Except China has made no recent moves to do so. They haven't made statements like, if no one stops Israel from hitting Iran and if Trump makes a move; we will have no choice but to do something. About the only way China gets involved is if progressives in the US beg them to do something. Otherwise, China rather have the US as a trading partner than Iran, and likely will be the first to trade with a new government in Iran.

The concern is Iran not reforming a successful new government and becoming another Libya. I don't think the regional countries that are neutral to Iran want that to occur. Iraq might. Sects in Afghanistan and Pakistan might prefer to keep it destabilized. Others will want a stable Iran. I expect Israel and Trump to leave it to regional leaders to help Iran rebuild. China will be happy to sell new things to Iran.

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, I remember the bitter feeling of Carter's impotence against the "students" impudence in 1979. I will never forgive the Ayatollahs for the Marine Corps bombing in Lebanon in 1983, nor Reagan for deploying them unarmed. And frankly, I would have buzzed a "Death to America" mass rally decades ago. The theocracy has been perpetually up to no good in the region. So yes, I think Trump did the right thing, and it may dissuade the mullahs from continuing and it may cause doubt in other adversaries who assumed he would never pull the trigger. If you are an American who is pulling for Iran, there is something seriously wrong with you.
On the other hand, the Iranians I have personally known have been fine people and I am sorry for collateral damage to those not at fault. I was surprised by how short Trump's speech was. But then maybe the point is: this is not a war. Yet. So the less talk, the better.
I'm sure there are terror squads in the US, not so sure Iran can launch them. Most people want to do the job and go back home. And Iran won't be in a position to be bringing people back home when the mullahs are in Russia or Qatar or underground or wherever. Plus the leadership over there isn't using their phones, I've read, or any form of electronic communication. If they surrendered, it would be month before we knew.
We haven't attacked the Iranian people yet. So we might not have a war. This might be some kind of 21st century war adjacent event.

Trump's actions tonight are less about Iran than they are about Israel. Iran never threatened the US. Israel used these nuclear sites to push for US involvement in a wider conflict.
Trump has removed Iran's Queen from the board. Israel can no longer posit that Iran is a threat to the United States.
Israel isn't jumping for joy at this prospect tonight, I can assure you.

The concern is that along with Tren de Aragua and MS-13 gangbangers, anti-American Muslim sleeper cells could have been infiltrated into the US through the Democrats’ open border. Using AK-47s (or M-4 assault weapons left behind in Afghanistan) smuggled in using Mexican cartels, the cells could be activated to perform suicide attacks on public places and/or people in their homes and!or infrastructure such as refineries and our power grid.

Enriching Uranium beyond 5% is unnecessary for making nuclear reactor fuel. The only reason to go beyond is to make weapons. And Iran does not have a nuclear electric power generation program. The defense minister of Pakistan just admitted to Le Monde last month that Pakistan has been "doing the US's dirty work" by supporting Islamic terrorism for 30 years. Zbegniev Brzezinski admitted to creating the Taliban in 1979 in order to provoke a Soviet invasion. There's the whole story arc, from creating the Taliban to harboring bin Laden.
