I'm reading "FBI to release Jeffrey Epstein video ‘confirming suicide in cell’/Dan Bongino, the deputy director of the agency, hopes the video will end speculation that Epstein’s death was suspicious" (London Times).
If they're "working on cleaning it up" and "mak[ing] sure" it's "enhanced," then people are going to think there were "shenanigans." If the video is "clear as day," why do they need to clean it up and enhance it? Well, I guess he's saying we'll see "the original" and the cleaned-up, enhanced version that will influence how we look at what we'll see in that "original." I expect people to deny that they are seeing what the enhanced version is nudging us to see and to question whether the original is really the original.
I was just listening to the newest episode of Joe Rogan, where subject of Epstein comes up:

Yah, if you wanna quash the very justified suspicions and restore some faith in government you release what you have- everything and let the public draw their own conclusions. When someone says "Day 1," I take that to mean it's a priority, not that they will literally do it on Day 1. Especially since they can't know what is involved in releasing the video.
It's been a few months--maybe longer than it should have been, but Epstein died over 5 years ago and I really don't want this to be the highest thing on their list, so I'm glad it wasn't regardless of the "Day 1" talk.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. In this case the extraordinary claim is that Epstein hanged himself with a bedsheet from a bunkbed.
I think most people who joke about "Epstein not killing himself" are joking about the discomfitting fact that an intelligence asset/agent that kills themselves doesn't alleviate the motivation for why they killed themselves. History is replete with examples of zealots choosing death before debriefing.

I know a New York cop--I run most of my police-scandal opinions (Derek Chauvin is another) past him before I decide how I feel about it. His view at t time was that every "anomaly" that supposedly indicates a cover-up--cameras not working, guards not where they are supposed to be, etc.--is actually just how things run normally in New York prisons.
There is nothing suspicious about any of it.

How Epstein died is less important to me than who his customers were.
I'm not impressed with the same pathetic attempts to smear Trump because decades ago he associated with Epstein. Trump called the cops on Epstein and no longer associated with him afterwards. Guilt by association is a logical fallacy, but I expect no less from people that cannot form rational arguments.
The problem with the "prison business as usual" explanation is that Epstein was very very high profile, and highly public; the FBI, the CIA, and the press were all over the handling of Epstein. The idea* that the prison authorities were simply negligent is preposterous.

With all the public suspicion so widely expressed, and the confidence of the public so low, why would they withhold this information until now? This video could have been released or at least described when it happened, and much of the suspicion avoided, although many, including me, would still not trust the previous administration about anything.

It's easy to say that if you're Dan Bongino you should "release what you have- everything and let the public draw their own conclusions" (rehahm, 9:22am), but that is clearly impossible in this case. Much of the evidence is videos of adult males (and maybe females) having sex with children. It's grossly illegal for anyone except an authorized member of law enforcement to even view such films. They can only be released to the public with black rectangles added to make them PG or R instead of XXX. Whether they can be sanitized enough to show in court without covering all the details that clearly demonstrate the guilt of the adult participants is a good question.
Should DOJ at least release the names right now? That's not so easy, either, because you have to disambiguate them first. There's a 'John Roberts' on the flight logs? Hah It must be the Chief Justice! Or maybe it's the Fox news commentator, or the actor/comedian, or the British businessman, or one of the other dozen or so living John Robertses on the Wikipedia John Roberts disambiguation page, or one of the hundreds of John Robertses in the world not famous enough to be on that page. Police first investigated Epstein in 2005, and he was first charged with a crime in 2006. Was he already molesting underage girls a dozen years before? If even the police didn't know, how was Trump supposed to know? Only a lying swine would call him a pedophile on that timeline.
