"I think the best people age the hardest. You know, I think Obama like, was probably like a very idealistic young man..."

"And that dude aged more than anybody.... Who ages the least? Trump.... He just brushed that shit off his shoulders. Like it was nothing....  So he's got an act, he's basically like a comic.... These other people... have canned speeches.... But it's not them. It's not them. That's why they all fall apart when they're talking.... All of 'em have to be protected from themselves, because when confronted by like some basic facts about the fucking corruption of the world, they don't know what to say. And they, they crumble, and Trump just starts talking shit.... They're like, oh, he's a crazy person. I'm like, yeah, that's the only kind of person that would survive what you try to do to him.... That's the only kind of guy that gets through. Like, you want a perfect person? A perfect person morally falls apart by the time they've been indicted and they have 34 counts, felony counts. Like your whole body's just destroyed by the stress of you possibly going to jail for the rest of your life. You have to be a fucking insane person to ride that out and not look like anything even happened. Then you get shot. You get up after you got shot, you're fucking bleeding from your ear and you go fight, fight, fight. You gotta be a crazy person to get through these. He's a nightmare. For anybody that's trying to rig a system like that, guy's the nightmare. He's the final boss of Fuck You...."

Obama is the person who led the weaponization of the federal government against it's own people.

Obama led the creation of a mass censorship regime to strip first amendment rights from his political opponents.

Obama preferred the use of drones in killing people. Drones do far more collateral damage than most of hte other tactics available. Obama also led the charge on extrajudicial killing around the globe.

Obama led operation crossfire hurricane which was the definition of sedition.

Obama sold guns to the Mexican Drug cartels in Operation Fast and Furious in order to create a crisis on the border by getting as many people killed as possible.

There are so many more examples of where Barrack Obama is just a piece of shit.

They're actors. Actors frequently forget their lines. Actors have publicists to protect them from themselves. And people scratch their heads about why there's such a democrat/hollyweird nexus...really?

I take issue with "best," of course. I think it's likelier that the people who have never had to participate in individual bare-knuckle fighting, who have always had a picador* or six weakening their opponent before they come out to deliver the killing blow, and are suddenly thrust into the... the octagon? Is that right? - those people are going to age the hardest. And Rogan, as a former fighter, ought to know that.

* In checking up on my terminology in the above grossly mixed metaphor, I find that the correct term for the guy who plants the barbs in the bull's shoulder muscles is actually the banderillero. I'm staying with picador as it's a more well-known word.

Worse thing... the Obama speechwriters were stealing off the Internet too. He didn't even surround himself with smart people. We're still out here though... stronger than ever. Enjoy reading megan mcardle's food tips, ann. lolol

...one should Altparse Rogan's use of insane. I don't believe Trump is insane I believe his skills of navigating politics were honed over his lifetime. Those who truly look to delve Trump's history can look back at interviews as early as the 70s and see what he believed and how he operated. It's really not much different than the skills most successful business people have, only modulated for the intense NYC environment in which he operated.

...most career politicians are kind of stupid midwits who have enough luck and learn enough skill to go along until historic preservation status embalms their careers.

Just saying what you actually think works pretty well. The Trump path.

Also Trump is not the final boss. Any reasonable person will note that Trump is not a fighter and is absolutely a deal maker first and foremost. He is only the latest escalation.

Perot, the TEA Party, and the 2012 Republican Primary were all attempts by the American working class to be heard.

In 2016 we turned to Trump.

Either Trump will succeed and the DC leviathan will be reigned in or we will escalate again. He is the best deal the scumbags are going to get going forward. The next person will be the one that promises executions and jail time for criminals and traitors.

Exactly why I voted for him. But they keep testing him every day. They tried to get him to send American bombers along side of Israel to bomb Iran, imagine what the world would look like today after that mission, and after Iran shut down oil from the Middle East, and Trump would be rightly blamed, but he said no. This kind of stuff really frosts their onions.

Germany just awarded Kiev $5 billion dollars to develop and build "home-grown cruise missiles." I know the Ukrainians are some kind of master race, untainted by the blood of Mongols, like the Russians, but this is preposterous, it's just cover for Ukraine to use German Taurus cruise missiles inside of Russia. It's up to Trump to stop this crazy plan before the Europeans manage to drag us into the war through Article 5, which is their goal.

Trump is actually the final boss of "Fuck No!" I hope he is up to this test.

Obama aged a lot because he was young. Just like all the other younger presidents.

Trump has not aged much because he is already old. Just like all the other older presidents.

Rogan is basically Holden Caulfield here. He's basically talking about phonies. He's not really wrong here though. Trump is a phony of course too, but he's an honest one. People like Obama are not honest and their body rebels against it.

Yep, exactly right.

I like Joe but he misses a key point. Compared to most of our Presidents, since Eisenhower, Trump has had a real job, with real job pressures, his whole life. kenedy, LBJ, Nixon, Clinton and Obama were lifelong politicians. Bush 1 had success in the Oil business but moved to politics ASAP, the family business and Bush 2 likewise dabbled in business. Reagan at least had experience in the cutthroat Hollywood business. Carter was an enigma; Peanut farming is hard work but maybe not mentally stressful. The Presidency is a real job, with real stress and demands. Trump has had real jobs his whole life. I think it would hard to find a more stressful job than being a builder in NYC and elsewhere. Everyday it's unions, shop stewards, city officials, city bureaucrats, politicians, etc., etc. It probably helps that he doesn't drink or smoke.

To support Tim's point contra to Rogan- Bill Clinton looks like a ghoul these days and I assure you Bill was not among the "best" of people- it is simply that the Bill Clinton in our memories was only 46 when he was first elected. The same applies to Bill's wife, Shelob.

Ever wonder if whether that accelerated aging process is due to stress caused by repressing your real personality versus your public persona, hiding your real personal life versus your media image? Anyone who seriously peruses Obama's prior life in Chicago as bathhouse hustler and neighborhood organizer (both well documented, by the way) will realize that he was compelled to live a false-front life for those 8 years of presidential service.

Hopefully, Trump is the "final boss of Fuck You." But I'm very doubtful. If Trump doesn't prevail against the Deep State, the final boss will be much, much worse.

I have heard U.S. politics referred to as Hollywood for Ugly People.

“Trump is the "final boss of Fuck You."

And Obama was the final boss of trick fu*king the public. Everything he did involved hiding his motives and creating tissues of lies to hurt his opponents. Even his goofy healthcare system was a way to make health care company donors rich while secretly hoping it would crash the whole thing and usher in commiecare.

Not really a surprise that someone who has fought government, the media, and courts his whole life would be better trained than someone who was coddled by it all. Most Presidents were coddled either always or at least during the time before politics. Trump's training just got more intense with time. He long ago snatched the pebble from the hand of the master.

bagoh20 said...

Obama was a hedonistic charmer constantly looking for approval and easy advantage regardless of the morality. He was the opposite of idealistic, but fake idealism is one of the primary tactics for such people.

I remember 2016. Well. I remember waking up that morning, thinking "Oh, God, she's President now!". And then I went downstairs, and my roommate was watching TV, and they were talking about President Trump. He and I had never spoken about politics, or really about much of anything. But I asked him, "Trump won?". And he gave a thumbs up. And we both went "Fuck-Yeah!".

Well I'll agree with Rogan in part. Trump may be the final boss of Eff You. But I don't think Obama was one of the "best persons". He did age in office--but then living with Moochelle is going to put some years on anyone.

NeggNogg said, "I have heard U.S. politics referred to as Hollywood for Ugly People."

There are some attractive people in politics. Tulsi Gabbard comes to mind. But if you mean "ugly" on the inside, then yeah. But not Tulsi. Not her. I imagine she's like a cozy, tropical Hawaiian sunrise holding a mai-tai and waiting-for-me-to-get-there-so-she-can-feed-me-grapes-by-hand-in-a-vegan-leather-bikini on the inside.

Don't any of you step on my dreams ya hear? Don't you dare...

Obama was shallow and brittle. All the obstacles were cleared out of the way for him to become America's First Black President. So when adversity came, or just when the wind went out of his sails, he crumpled up.

Was Obama idealistic? I think he was his own ideal. He was the Hope and Change he had been waiting for. Obama taking office was the "fundamental change" he promised.

Was it similar with the "young, idealistic" John F. Kennedy? He was a hard-headed politician who couldn't either support or denounce McCarthy. He couldn't bring himself to fully support civil rights or decide what to do about Vietnam. Ted Sorenson made a "young idealist" suit for JFK and JFK didn't have any trouble wearing it and making assorted "idealistic" gestures.

The problem described is really one of perception. Once you realize what people say and think is much less real than what they do, how they behave, the former just pales into insignificance.
