My understanding is that '86' refers to an old gangland colloquialism of taking some mook 8 miles out of town, and putting him 6 feet under.
And Trump is conveniently already 8 miles out of town. Surrounded by the people who did 9-11. James Comey, of course, was FBI director when Robert Mueller was appointed Special Counsel to investigate Trump.

That matches my understanding of the origin and meaning as well.
It's pretty clear '86' means one thing in the restaurant business and something else in the criminal underworld. There are lots of terms like that. "Ice" as a verb also means to kill in the criminal world, but elsewhere can mean to exclude someone or put something on hold. Regarding '86' the question is whether Comey would be more familiar with the criminal underworld or the restaurant biz. That's a puzzler.

Comey does, in fact, belong behind bars, but not for this. He has admitted to giving classified information to reporters.

The Democrats are using "86 47" like a "bat signal" to call on some deranged follower like that kid in Butler, PA to make an assassination attempt for them. Previously, Gretchen Whitmer had "86 45" in the background of a video call in Trump's first term. If another attempt is made, wouldn't it be awful if some of these people sending out this bat signal started mysteriously getting "86"-ed themselves?
