I read that at one Papal conclave the Cardinals could not agree on a new Pope and the conclave went on for over a thousand days. And the secular authorities became so angry that they only sent in bread and water for food and then later took off the roof of the church where the conclave was meeting. But still there was a deadlock - political factions much to the fore.

Michelle Obama is not "transitioning" as she claims. She's always been a man and Barack Obama has always been a closeted gay. They just have no further need to hide this from people.

Maybe we can get to the bottom of who killed the gay chef that washed up on their lawn.

My guy in the wagering pool, yes he was closest to Francis and would be a great follow up. It looks like they got some dirt flying on him though but if you watched the MOVIE CONCLAVE(which they are saying many of these voters did, lot of 1st timers) you can see the politics involved always. So many up in here referred to Francis as the Commie and Lib and blasphemed him (took a highly respected position and dragged it through the mud AND RIDICULED IT) so I know my pick battling long odds ,BUT WE REMEMBER the Crusaders would shout IF GOD WILLS IT, before they would go slaughter the Muslims, SO its back in the hands of GOD WILLS IT! As a long recovered Catholic I have watched this organization for a long time. Francis gave it a real "work of Jesus perspective" must be why so many dissed him you know CRUCIFY HIM...cmon Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle im in your corner. I have been wagering and handicapping events in life since I was 10 from marbles on the block, flipping coins and baseball cards against the stairs,and card games on Friday and thoroughbred handicapping for over 60 years and hold my own. Next up BREEDERS CUP and next WSP champ...White smoke by Friday! 5-2 on the board.

I’m not sure why Michelle Obama needs to air her feelings over an open mic. It’s sad to see her in this state. It’s an unsettling unveiling. Not sure if it’s a mid-life crisis or PTSD. Or simply a nurtured narcissism, where she believes we can all learn from her vaunted experience. I’m no expert. I hope she finds a quieter place to work all this out though.

I see that the CA assembly has passed a "duty to retreat? biil, don't know if it's yet to be signed into law.

I totally fail to see how "duty to retreat" can be reconciled in any way with the Constitution, especially Amendment 9 :The enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people. A free people do not have a duty to retreat under any circumstances. They have a right to defend their ground, to stay freely wherever they are legally.

I do feel a little sorry for Michelle Obama. I've heard rumors about the quality and content of her Master's thesis and think maybe she's a victim of that imposter syndrome effect, where people begin to doubt their achievements because they been riding a smooth, well-paved road put there by benefactors. I hope she'll figure it out. The sympathy I feel is because she's the kind of public figure that owes her fame to a highly polarizing personality, her husband - something she doesn't have complete control over, not just a matter of choice. She probably thinks she's being honest and sincere, and I admit there's a chance of that, but only because she might not know what that really means.

That "Michelle Obama is a man" thing was a joke or insult that some people pretended to take seriously, and others actually did take seriously. There are pictures of her in grade school -- definitely a girl. You don't get out of South Side Chicago and change your sex without the whole neighborhood knowing about it.

I saw a book today, "Why Alanis Morrissette Matters." I loved her music but haven't heard from or about her in 30 years. Does she really still matter? The problem with "Why X Matters" books is that they make us ask if anything really matters.

Last month, I thought John Lithgow was dead until I saw him in Conclave and realized near the end that he wasn't William Hurt. Now, Lithgow is on the radio every hour plugging his Buzz Aldrin podcast. Lithgow as Buzz seems like bizarre casting, but it is Lithgow's podcast so what he says goes.

First of all, appeasement is the act of satisfying the demands of an aggresser to avoid conflict or further disagreement. Problem number two is that Trump has no authority to act in this dispute.

The NYT is worried because Melania isn't spending any time at The White House, but she might be at Trump Tower. Considering that Barron is attending NYU's Stern School of Business, just three miles south down Fifth Avenue, that would be a good guess. The young man obviously has ASD and Melania has never left his side.

The USSS agents can guard both family members and Trump can bill the government for housing the agents.

That's interesting. Can you elaborate? I think a lot of MAGAites would agree with that statement. They would go a bit further, and say not only Trump, but the whole US, have no authority or business with that conflict.

Gadfly states that fluoride is a naturally occurring element to argue that its use in drinking water is safe. This is a bullshit argument. Snake venom is naturally occurring too. A million toxic substances are naturally occurring. The its natural so it is good argument is a nonsense. Fluoride has negative effects on bone development and creates brittle bone. While it prevents cavities and its use in toothpaste is effective, putting it in drinking water may not be the best practice.

I think the idea that Barack Obama called his wife Michael comes from a similar mishearing, perhaps willful, of something he said. Even if it were true, it wouldn't be out of place in world where women can be called "Charlie" or "Jules" or "Teddie" or some other men's name or nickname. Much about Obama is explained when you realize that though he was born in 1961, he's more like a Millennial than a Boomer.
