"President Donald Trump pressed South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to protect White Afrikaner farmers from violent attacks in an extraordinary Oval Office conversation..."

"... in which Trump made no mention of the African nation’s long-standing epidemic of violence against both White and Black people, nor its violent and discriminatory history of White rule. Trump amplified false claims that White Afrikaners have been victims of a genocide, even showing video of crosses and earthen mounds that he said represented more than 1,000 grave sites of murdered farmers. The mounds were in fact part of a protest against the violence, not actual graves. Ramaphosa stared straight ahead, wiping his face and occasionally moving in his seat and looking over at Trump, who wouldn’t make eye contact as a clip played of crowds repeatedly shouting, 'Kill the Boers,' a reference to White farmers descended from colonists who built and led the nation’s racist apartheid regime...."

South Africa has been on a downward spiral. They've lost reliable electricity. This means they'll lose access to their mineral wealth as you can't mine platinum if your miners can't breath. It's ironic that they are following the Zimbabwe route of purging their most productive farmers, since they had to bail Zimbabwe out by allowing them to use the SA rand for Zimbabwe's official currency.

Thanks for the Unbiased reporting Wapo! LOL.

1) Why should Trump have mentioned black v. black violence or talked about Aparthaid, now dead for 30 years?

2) The fact that the WaPo asserts "the claims are false" is not supported by any evidence or source. Its not even clear what "claims" are supposedly "false".

3) Either S/A whites are being killed without any intervention by the Government to protect them or they're not. Either white S/A are being racially discrimnated or they're not. This is 2025, and it doesn't matter what happened 30 years ago.

4) The correct response to the claims of discrimination against whites and turning a blind eye to murdered Boer farmers isn't, "blah, blah, how dare you?". Its: no, we're not doing that and this is not happening and here are the facts that prove it.

5) Of course if Jews in S/A were claiming blacks were killing them or they were discriminated against because they were Jews, the WaPo would have written the same sort of article. Yes, indeed.

The ANC is a leftwing Government and like the Leftwing Government in Spain 1936, Russia 1917, Chile 1970s, etc. is doing a standard trick. At first the Government doesn't kill the group they dislike. They just send the word out: " Its open season on Group X". And mysteriously killers aren't arrested or brought to justice and despite all the protestions that the Government is "really really upset about this" nothing is actually done.

Its this tactic that brought about the spainish civil war. The Conservative party leader (think Speaker Johnson) was murdered by leftist thugs and the Republican Government did nothing except shrug its shoulders and go "Gosh, thats sad".

Depending on who you ask, the European Age Of Discovery started in 1418. In 607 years, an incredibly small minority of Europeans essentially terraformed wastelands, modernized every society on the planet (even those they didn't directly conquer), closed the frontier, and became the dominant cultural force on Earth.

In 607 years a small minority of Europeans have done what people they encountered would not have even conceived possible in 6000, and I want to go back. I also want the people who have appropriated our culture as much as we've appropriated theirs to go back to.

Let's all go back to the time before 1418 when everything was clean and pure as driven snow and test the modern academic theory that access to Europeans, their culture and their technology is a human right for everyone that's not European. Let's start over and see how everyone "turns out".

Equality of opportunity does not lead to equality of results, especially when the people wanting equality of results never took the fucking opportunity in the first place.

In the year 2632, everything will have turned out exactly the same, I give you odds.

It does meet the definition of genocide: government leaders encourage murdering whites. They also do nothing to prevent black-on-black crime, nor to improve living conditions for the millions of destitute black citizens. Despite being an incredibly tiny proportion of the population, whites are still murdered at a higher rate than blacks.

The leaders of South Africa squandered an extraordinary reserve of resources and goodwill when apartheid ended. Now it is their turn to stop persecuting both white and black citizens. There is nothing wrong with this diplomatic stance. Trump will follow the stick with the carrot, if he hasn't done so already (which the fetid Post would never report) That's diplomacy.

South Africa is well on its way to following the example of its neighbor, Zimbabwe. The transformation of Rhodesia into Zimbabwe is a success story, if you're prone to be a totalitarian leader with enough smarts to surround yourself with like-minded, but not quite-as-smart goons who also see opportunity. There's still plenty to steal. Rhodesia was once considered the bread basket of Africa, and now its people routinely starve. South Africa will get there. But sure - Trump is bad for pointing these things out and bringing a little heat in front of the cameras, while the UN postures.

And, clearly, de Klerk should have left Nelson Mandela to die in prison l, confined apartheid, and arrange a white successor at least as brutal as he was in his prime, the better to prevent black on white genocide in the 2020s.

Perhaps it’s because working in high tech made me look forward, not back, but I believe people need to look only look backwards to avoid repeating mistakes. Yes, South Africa has had a nasty, bloody history. Is that an excuse to be perpetuating the blood and the violence? Or is it a reason to keep killing each other until everyone is dead? Nelson Mandela was released from prison 35 years ago, and he became South Africa’s leader just 4 years later. Is there a statute of limitations? Or is everyone supposed to pretend it’s 1989 forever?

(If there’s no statute of limitations then I have dibs on killing Italians for what Roman Emperor Diocletian did to my Christian ancestors a few centuries back.)

Why are we even debating this?

I can reel off at least five or six Marxist states (and the roots of the ANC are pretty thoroughly commie if you look into them) that all went by the same playbook:

1) Take over power and promise landowners that their holdings would be protected.

2) Find a reason that the landowners are enemies of the state (“Kulaks”) and expropriate their lands and turn them over the regime’s favored group.

3) The regime’s favorite group proves totally incompetent at farming the newly seized lands.

4) The state takes over full control of the seized lands (“forced collectivization”).

5) State control proves disastrous. In at least 3 of the 6 examples I can think off, mass famine results, with casualties in the millions. In all of them, agricultural production basically never recovers in comparison to privately held farms around the world.

Just wait, within a decade there will be famine in South Africa. Remember, you heard it here first.

If all those murdered were over 50, then they may have some guilt, but did they not deserve a trial to determine that? South Africa is heading the way of Zimbabwe, and at an accelerating rate. The statistics on farmer deaths in South Africa are being manipulated (lefty lips are moving; lefty lies are being told.) The way I understand the statistics is that South Africa has a very high murder rate and, within that nation-wide context, the absolute number of white farmers killed is not very significant. BUT within the context of the number of farmers killed the rate at which white farmers are being killed is very high. They are 60% of all farmer deaths.

It may be that the blacks of South Africa can't forgive the whites for the past - and it's the recent past. Segregation and a land grab were introduced after World War II. Living people had their grandparents dispossessed and they know their grandparents' story. They themselves were under-educated in inferior schools and subjected to the color bar. But "We can't forget and won't forgive" can easily become genocide when two groups are closely intertwined.

These South African farmers have something to contribute to this country. The African white farmers are Europeans who know how to farm the red clay soil of the South and the states like Texas, and Oklahoma. Most European farmers know how to farm soil affected by the glaciers or deep, black loam which is what you encounter in Europe. They ranch everywhere else. But the white farmers of South Africa can work with the red clay and the semi-drought conditions you find in non-glaciated areas like South Africa. So they would be a good group to bring in here if climate change, as predicted, is going to burn up the South and Southwest more.

It would be a good idea for South Africa to keep them for the same reason. Many of the tribes in South Africa have no more idea than Europeans about how to farm on difficult, arid, red-clay soil; it's no more their farming tradition than it is traditional European farming.
