Writes Michelle Goldberg, in "How Did So Many Elected Democrats Miss Biden’s Infirmity?" (NYT).
I don't know what "sort of reckoning" you're going to get if you keep saying "too old" when you mean mentally deficient and when you ask why couldn’t the insiders "recognize the problem" when you can't see inside the insiders' head.
I don't think you yourself are recognizing the problem when you say the problem was that he was "too old" and when you portray the insiders as sincerely failing to see what was there. If they saw that he was quite old, they could nevertheless believe that he was an old one with excellent capacities.
But I'd guess that they knew he lacked capacity, and I wonder if the reason they didn't recognize that problem is that Joe Biden has lacked capacity all along — including when he ran in 1988 — and the insiders were always operating through him and didn't particularly need or want him to have what it takes to serve as President.
So if you want a serious reckoning, reckon with that. But you don't, do you? You didn't then, and you don't now. You're just hoping Trump will fail so badly, that the much-abused people will come stumbling back to you in the end because there's nowhere else to go.

Insufferable a**holes all.
Are you telling us that Michelle Goldberg's hitless streak continues? The longest hitless streak on record? No, say it ain't so.
Goldberg, with her usual display of dishonest ineptitude.
…I reckon…
Goldberg etal. were lying the entire fucking time. That is the "reckoning" that she and Tapper are attempting, by writing fhousands and thousands of words of "invesigative journalism and analysis", to evade. In short, they are still lying.
They didn't "miss" anything.
Biden lacked capacity in 1972.
" rococo"? The last time I heard that was the character "Rocky Rococo" in The Further Adventures of Nick Danger".
They are simply unwilling to tell the truth, despite the fact that that is the only thing that will release them from their current state of impotency, after an uncomfortable period of consequence and/or discipline, of course. They need a dramatic inflection to give them new life. Truth-telling will do it, in time.
There is the real, practical question of how far we want to go in uncovering the last Admin.
First there is the election fraud piece. Then there is the issue of, whether legitimately elected or not, Biden was incompetent, and the levers of government were being pulled by various shadowy figures.
Do we want the courts filled with claims from people who suffered injury from a "Biden" decision? (scare quotes as shorthand for the whole legitimacy/competency complex)
Where would courts draw the line between ministerial acts that would happen no matter who was in office, and acts clearly connected to "Biden" policies?
Do we want long dragged-out prosecutions of people who wielded power in Biden's name? Is that even a crime?
What sorts of precedents would come out of those cases?
Do we want foreign countries to reject every "Biden" agreement? (mostly moot, as they seem to be doing this anyway, but still)
Serious questions. I don't know what the answers are.
JSM
Which "sin" is the "Original Sin"? Has the Biden cognitive cover-up now displaced slavery as America's "Original Sin" in the eyes of the legacy media?
How did so many bright, talented, idealistic young J-school students become such pathetic, dishonest, spineless hacks?
The real issue is why did the MSM and the Democrats lie to the American people for 4 years about Biden. They knew about the autopen, "the sundowning", the refusal to have press conferences without prescreened questions, the failure to meet with Cabinet members and inability to have substantive long discussions with anyone.
None of the press had the slightest interest in doing ANY reporting or investigating that would reflect negatively on Joe Biden or the DC Democrats. There were no "sources familiar" giving negative takes on ANYTHING biden did.
This is just more dishonest bilge from Michelle Goldberg. LIke so many in the media, I have no idea why this mediocrity has a column. She's not smart, she's not funny, she's not insightful. Goldberg churns out the party line and wears a dress that (and being Jewish) seems to be why she was hired.
"Plenty of Democrats are annoyed that 'Original Sin' has catapulted the issue of Biden’s enfeeblement back into the news..."
"... threatening to distract voters from Donald Trump’s rococo corruption."
Oh, it's "the issue of Biden's enfeeblement" that they're concerned about having been "catapulted back into news," is it? Not the fact that the entire Democrat establishment, and their PR wing, the news media, conspired to deceive the voting public for four years?
They're counting on the midterms. And Trump is gambling on the economy's having improved for the frustrated new voters who supported him by then, and it's a frickin' Trump-sized gamble. And if those frustrated voters, who - it is my view - weren't solely frustrated by the Biden economy but also turned out for Trump because they realized they'd been lied to for at least four years about the Biden economy, about COVID, about Trump's supposed fascistic tendencies, racism, sexism, homophobia, etc., ad infinitum, keep being reminded that they were lied to about everything, they might just decide to give Trump a little more time on the economy.
They don't give two hoots about the book's drawing attention to "Biden's enfeeblement." They care that it draws attention to their eager complicity in hiding it, and in shielding whoever was actually running the Executive Branch (we still don't know, do we?).
Go on, Althouse lefties: how is Trump worse? Have at it.
THe real problem goes back to 2020 when the DNC and party elite decided Biden would be the nominee after SC. All the other candidates immediately dropped out en masse with 90 percent of the delegates still up for grabs. No doubt some mysterious someone phoned all of them and " made them offer they couldn't refuse".
And of course just about everybody says, with admirable brevity, what I said at my usual length.
Dont worry Jamie, we love your long verbose takes. Haha just kidding. I see nothing wrong with what you wrote or its length.
Original sin is a consumptive act that transformed a baby into a fetus.
"How Did So Many Elected Democrats Miss Biden’s Infirmity?"
To ask the question is to continue the media-Democrat coverup.
Exactly ZERO elected Democrats missed anything. They actively tried to hide it from the public, with the helpful aid of a corrupted and conscripted media elite in the United States.
If not for Elon Musk's purchase of X, and the failed attempt to 86 Donald Trump, this all would still be ongoing and Biden would be "President" (but really Barack Obama would still be President).
A lying liar, lying.
The NYT did not enable comments for this column by Goldberg.
The cowards.
This isn’t a reckoning. I don’t know if “original sin” is an apt metaphor, but mixing them, the people that need a “come to Jesus” moment are the ones pointing fingers at others. Numerous videos exist of Jake Tapper excoriating people that commented on Biden’s mental decline. He doesn’t get to claim now that nobody told him. He is not receiving his reckoning. Neither is Goldberg.
"Plenty of Democrats are annoyed that 'Original Sin' has catapulted the issue of Biden’s enfeeblement back into the news, threatening to distract voters from Donald Trump’s rococo corruption."
I immediately thought of Madison's Rocky Rococo pizza.
The only "reckoning" they're looking for doesn't apply to anyone on their side of the aisle.
We need some laws. We can't use the business world as a model because there are no specific rules or duties that require disclosure of a CEO’s health. If the executive's health condition is "material," in the board's discretion, then the company needs to disclose it. (This was sort of an issue during Covid because every CEO was getting a positive diagnosis and the crazies (you know who) flew into a panic every time they heard.)
This is going to be a tough issue to legislate. Presidents have a right to privacy. We don't really need to know that JFK Jr. (Obama?) had all sorts of sexually transmitted diseases. And disclosing health issues could send the country into a panic without the health issues ever escalating to the point where the President becomes incapacitated and unable to perform his duties. But we are entitled to transparency from our government as well.
…and I wonder if the reason they didn't recognize that problem is that Joe Biden has lacked capacity all along..
Hooray…good for you for at least wondering. Those of us who recognized it back when it could of done everyone some good wonder if the reason they did it was because they had fooled so many with some of the biggest, most consequential lies in the history of humanity…
So if you want a serious reckoning, reckon with that. But you don't, do you? You didn't then, and you don't now.
I think she sees the necessity of having this conversation now to get it over with and begin educating voters on what "rococo corruption" is. Those walls aren't going to start closing in by themselves.
I’m trying to recall any column from Goldberg in the last 5 years expressing any concern whatsoever about the subject at all. Yet it’s the fault of those nameless insiders whose names we are just now hearing about when we were talking about it here during the previous campaign and every day since.
- Krumhorn
During the 2019 and 2020 campaign for president, I watched Biden exhibit several symptoms of dementia. I commented about it here, often. He showed clear cognitive decline enough for me as a layman with family experiences of the same problems to note them, name them, list them, and correlate their existence with his stage of dementia. I am not a physician. Again, my experience with dementia comes only from seeing family members die from it.
That those closest to him did not know, were fooled, or thought otherwise than Joe Biden suffered from dementia back then is utter hogwosh, a Big Lie, and should be dismissed with anger at those pushing it. Everyone there knew. Everyone lied. Everyone involved should be dismissed from public service of any kind with disgust at what they did.
These liars aren't fooling anybody. I really don't understand how they can live with themselves.
Biden's mental infirmary was clear during the 2020 campaign, and they knew it then. How else to explain them hiding him in the basement?
Rococo Corruption. Great band name.
Sin In Haste, Repent At Leisure.
"LIke so many in the media, I have no idea why this mediocrity has a column. She's not smart, she's not funny, she's not insightful. "
She's willing to debase herself in the service of the party, in full view of everybody. That's her sole attribute.
"Jackie, are you here? Where’s Jackie?"
It’s always projection with them. They know that anytime they wheel Joe Biden into public, the stench of corruption accompanies him like he’s a corpse flower. It’s out there, so the rules of propaganda say that it has to be stuck to Trump.
The cynicism of these people is impeccable, but, as the saying goes: “Think like the fans; sit with the fans.”
The Progressive media and the Progressive Democrat politicians are dancing around the lie, not wanting to admit their complicity in promoting it. But admitting their duplicity is the golden ticket: They need to establish credibility before they can assert dominance again, so they'll come close to admission, and then shy away - just as we're seeing. Pretending to be surprised, digging down to find the truth, solve the mystery ! - all while hoping that their feigned earnestness is similar enough to admitting their sin, without confession, to fool the rubes. They're pretending good faith so that the faithful can climb back on board and beg to be led. Psychological hijinks.
Joe, thanks for bringing up the Firesign Theater . Loved them and that album in particular. I brought that record to Madison when I went to college and a group of us listened to it a couple of times a week for the entire year I lived in the dorms. Had it completely memorized then and I can still do a few good size chunks of the dialogue.
They might have viewed his incapacity as an asset. The 'slightly goof uncle' who asserted in 2008 that President FDR went on TV after the stock market crash on October 29 1929, and suffered nothing for saying that malapropism, could count on the DNC-adjacent MSM to ignore pretty much anything outlandish.
"Plenty of Democrats are annoyed that 'Original Sin' has catapulted the issue of Biden’s enfeeblement back into the news, threatening to distract voters from Donald Trump’s rococo corruption."
Enfeeblement? He was already feeble before the election. He campaigned from his basement, with the occasional rally of supporters at a drive-in rally.
"they should be honest about what they got wrong" As the post already indicates, they can't be. Even the "got wrong" is wrong. Dems knew exactly what they were doing, and wanted to do it. They thought Biden was their best shot, and his frailty would work to prog PTB advantage. They counted on the MSM to assist, correctly. Honesty requires exposing the in-your-face lies, the gaslighting, the utter manipulation, the elite collusion, the sheer lust for power, the putting party over country, the absolute untrustworthiness of the entire Dem apparatus inside and outside the party. The modified limited hangouts being foisted on us now are designed to avoid a reckoning.
“Tapper and Thompson, it’s important to note, don’t report that Biden’s addled state led to poor judgment, at least aside from the catastrophic choice to run for re-election.”
Guess Tapper and Thompson omit the Afghanistan debacle from their book—and Biden’s follow-up interview with George Stephanopaulos when he swore not one person recommended maintaining a small force of 2,500 troops in Afghanistan. Top generals later contradicted Biden under oath.
Biden demonstrated poor judgment every day he was President.
🇺🇦👶🩸👎🏼
Democratic Party and their loyal corrupt ass-sniffing butt-wiping lying liar who lie media hacks = Sewer.
Mr Mosby: Yes to all.
I believe the blog's theme today is 'willful ignorance'.
Seems to me that if there’s a senile guy doing nothing in particular the usual way and a senile guy setting everything on fire, the fire guy is the one who should be the focus of media inquiry.
The faceless cabal who were running things during the so-called Biden Admnistration can blame the disastrous results of their mismanagement on Biden's "enfeeblement" rather than their own wrong-headedness. Biden as figurehead and Fall-guy.
The modified limited hangouts being foisted on us now are designed to avoid a reckoning.

Kak-a-phony.
Are you paid to be a dedicated democratic cultist?
Remember when they told us Joe Biden struggled with a lifelong stutter?
He had SOLS - Sudden Onset Lifelong Stutter
A good number of the Democrat base is going to buy into the excuses because if they admit that Biden's mental and physical enfeeblement were obvious and the people on the right were correct when they pointed it out, well that means they were suckers and suckers never admit to being suckers.
Or they are going to go the KaKa route, which I have seen in real life already. Sure, maybe our guy wasn't all there mentally and some unknown cabal was running the government, but the same thing is going on with Trump.
"
I don't think you yourself are recognizing the problem when you say the problem was that he was "too old" '. Yep, obvious ex cept for the TDS victims (see above).
Now it's the wheel chair focus. His stumbling, tripping, old man shuffle were "tells" of his general infirmity, They were NEVER to core problem. And the "stutter"? GTFOH
In any event, there is no use whatsoever discussing this with a dedicated lefty. They are incapable of grasping the fact that hiding the fact that the POTUS was mentally deficient and unable to fill the role to which he was elected and that the executive branch of the US was ran by a currently unknown cabal is inherently a bad thing because "Orange Man Bad." They are just upset that it was discovered. Anything said by any leftist on the subject is just an attempt to minimize the damage to the party. Which is actually fortunate for those of us on the "right" side of the aisle because a combination of TDS and the Democrat party being captured by crazy communist leftists has put us in an advantageous position.
Donald Trump says US will set tariff rates for scores of countries in 2 to 3 weeks ~ Bloomberg
Translation:
1) Contrary to what this administration has been saying, countries aren't dying to negotiate deals with the US.
2) Instead, Trump will dictate how much US consumers and companies will pay to import goods from other countries.
3) It's absurd.
I think there may be some evidence that this man doesn’t know what he’s doing… We have a plan to develop a plan. A concept of a plan, rather?
MAGA is still collecting the data and analyzing the evidence. Some people say it’s too early to tell, but I'm not so sure.
Note that KaKa is trying to change the subject.
Well put profe.
You're right Ron, but it is a reminder to check my TSLA stock. Wowsers!!! Over 50% growth in six weeks. Bank baby!
Biden was known to puff up his credentials, even after getting caught, Biden would repeat the lies about being top of his class. At the last debate, Trump fact checked Biden claims to have a better golf handicap than the one he really had.
The Democrats didn't "miss Biden's infirmity." They actively lied about it because they thought it was in their best interests to do so.
Who is Michelle Goldberg calling an "insider"? She worked for that campaign 24/7/365, starting in 2021. I don't recall her doing any recognizing.
Everybody knew. The short list is anybody who didn't know.
Comedy Gold-berg.
That ease of lying - so cluelessly on display again - is priceless.
Anyone looked at her column from 2022 that she linked, and the sienna poll on Democrats' views on Biden running for reelection that she linked to in that? Goldberg was with Democrats who overwhelmingly did not want Biden to run. In 2022. Age the number one reason in the poll, and in her column headline, but many others. Mental acuity was broken out separately, and just 3%. That was the way amomg Democrats it was discussed, age not acuity. To me that is the reckoning that is needed. How did leaders ignore the polls? When I argued with friends they never had an answer for these polls. Taken of Democrats. Part of the problem, the ages of so many others in leadership. Who all need to go.
Obviously the racist, sexist, misogynist Democrats and MSM, did everything possible to keep a strong, Black/ Indian, woman vice president Kamala Harris from replacing feeble Joe.
If Bootyedge had been VP, the left would have ditched Joe in a hurry.
I wouldn't really call this a guess. Biden has always been a stupid person and an obviously corrupt tool who made the perfect figurehead for a conniving set of people who conspired to run an illegitimate regime.
The real problem here is not that there is a group of people who want to install and manage an illegitimate regime. That is a historical pattern that is impossible to escape. You would have to wipe out humanity to eliminate this phenomenon.
The real problem is that about 30% of the population will support a regime like this. That is about what it took for Hitler to install his control over Germany. It was probably less for Mao.
The people who support what the DC Regime was trying to do need to be suppressed. They are people who are incompatible with a free society. We cannot have a free country with a critical mass of people who represent the current Democrat voter.
The short list is anybody who didn't know.
Even then, the videos should have picked enough curiosity to ask the people in the know. It was the President of the United States after all. And if you asked and were lied to come forward and tell everybody what you were told.
The Democrats need a come to Jesus moment. The Comey fiasco is only highlight how badly they need one.
Also, people in the media who knew are still enjoying the perks of the platform without any of the repercussions for the lies they either knew or should've known. It's in the frigging job description!
Why all the kid gloves with these people? They have done nothing but lie to us for years. Enough!

The Democrat party is obviously corrupt. The Democrat party clearly rigged 2 primaries in a row.
Yet Readering still supported Biden over Trump.
Readering will support anything as long as her tribe gains power. This is why she can support killing Trump and imprisoning his supporters. This is why she can support importing people who can be exploited for cheap labor and used to fill in mail in ballots.
There is a level of virtue that is required of a critical mass of the population in order to maintain a free society. A floor level of honesty and integrity.
The current democrat voter lacks this.

A society can only exist as long as incompatible elements are suppressed.
People who lie and cheat within a system fundamentally undermine a free high trust society just by their actions. It does not matter if 95% of the population does not steal. If the 5% that do are not punished then the entire system will break down and you will end up with chaos and a completely different society whose inevitable state will be that of Mexico or Russia or China.
In China if someone steals something from you it was your fault for being weak or careless. People like this require a police state to maintain order. The people who run China understand this and they make sure their people have low moral virtue. Thus the police state maintains itself because it is necessary.
If you allow a political party that calls for it's political opponents to be jailed or killed and it is supported by a significant population then you will eventually lose your free high trust society.
These people do not require the moral virtue required to support this society and will bring it down.
Now it can be told: It turns out the emperor wasn’t in fact wearing any clothes. Who knew?
Achilles is a one note. She repeats the same thing in comment after comment.
They were fine with Biden's condition because they figured they were getting away with it. In my opinion getting away with it is the only thing democrats care about these days.
Achilles - Democrats would vote for the exhumed zombie corpse of Hitler, over Trump.
Do you believe ANYONE in media saw what we saw and still did not suspect Biden was mentally declining before our eyes? Did Alison Camerata really believe Biden was wandering away from the G7 to talk to some random parachutist? Did fake Jake Tapper really think Laura Trump was mocking Biden's stutter?
These people sell themselves on TV as acute observers and that is why they are journalists. But they didn't see the dozens of times Biden was lost onstage? Or the many times he stepped away from a microphone and "shook hands" with thin air? Or when he'd spin around facing away from the mic and start talking to the curtain or wall behind him?
Michelle and her print media coconspirators need to come clean, say their mea culpas and tell us they will do better. Otherwise we have every expectation that they are just as lousy at their "profession" now, and in the future, as they have been for the last five years.

Achilles is a one note. She repeats the same thing in comment after comment.
Your problem is that you cannot deal with that "one note." People like you are why totalitarian regimes are able to take and wield power.
You are incompatible with a system that allows free expression. You support censorship. You have participated in at least 10 massive obvious lies like Russian Collusion Hoax and the J6 Reichstag Fire. When these lies are exposed you continue to support the liars.
You support an obviously corrupt, evil and violent party knowing it has subverted the democratic process. You support the murder of the leading political opponent.
You are incompatible with a free high trust society. A society full of people like you will never be able to reach broad consensus. It will always result in a tribe ascending to a dominant position and using violence and power and suppression to maintain it's power.
Republicans also need to come clean about Trump. The guy who posted separately today on Truth Social about Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift should not be running the Executive Branch. The end of the Third Term nonsense a start I suppose.
Original Sin is the book you get when you ask the serpent to give his version of events in the Garden.
Achilles everything you write is nonsense.
During the Biden administration the economy added 16.6 million jobs and GDP grew 12.6% with the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years. Wealth, adjusted for inflation, rose a record 37% for the median American households. Not to mention the stock market at record highs. These metrics were so positive/successful that I think it overshadowed any reduced capacity.
President Biden was a C student at the University of Delaware who committed plagiarism. He was near the bottom of his law school class. He won two closely contested elections, ever, in 1972 in Delaware by about 3,000 votes, and the 2020 presidential election. As people who were around in 1988 know, he was a joke then.
I don't think there was a cover-up, because we all knew Biden was too old. The idea of a cover-up is a way to protect Democrats from admitting their own bad decisions. Everyone who watched Biden on TV knew. The story is Democratic cowardice when facing the truth. They let it go on until July, 2024, when it was no longer possible to delude themselves.
This is why I don't think Democrats will win the presidency in 2028. They are unable to make hard decisions that require telling the truth that everyone knows. They won't say true things, because then they'd have to do something about it. It's unserious and shows a fear of responsibility.
Also, they keep choosing worse and worse leaders in a kind of idiocracy sequence. Obama chose Biden, Biden chose Harris. Why? Because the choice was driven by insecurity and a desire to have someone less capable who wouldn't threaten the President. Perhaps not insecurity in Obama's case, but I was very irritated at him in 2008 for inflicting Biden upon us. I knew that Obama didn't respect him.
@Dunham
The voters disagreed.
Either they knew and said nothing,
or
their observation skills were lacking entirely.
Either way, not fit for office.
2024 Mentally deficient Biden > 2025 Corrupt, dementia ridden Trump
Oddly, I thought Readering made a very good point and stated it well.

Maybe MAGAts should learn from the Dem's mistake and admit that Cheeto Mussolinni's brain is cooked?
2024 Dementia ridden Trump outsmarted the Democrats.
Maybe MAGAts should learn from the Dem's mistake and admit that Cheeto Mussolinni's brain is cooked?
I may not understand/agree with everything Cheeto is doing/saying, but he’s in very good form and on top of his game, the evidence for which is that he daily makes the bug-eyed lefties howl in anguish and spontaneously combust. That’s some seriously good work.

Professor Althouse's comment is a weird misreading of Goldberg's piece. Goldberg actually recognizes that the problem was declining capacity. As she writes: "Party officials burned a lot of credibility defending Biden’s cognitive fitness. As they seek to earn it back, they should be honest about what they got wrong."
Goldberg makes no claims about Biden's capacity "all along."
In any event, the idea that Biden lacked capacity all along (since 1988) and that everyone knew it is belied by his successful career in the Senate and the respect in which he was held by people like Mitch McConnell.
Finally, Althouse's suggestion that Goldberg is urging standing back and waiting for Trump to fail is directly contradicted by Goldberg's suggestion that Carville's advice to that effect is wrong and just continues the ostrich like course.
In short, this feels like a rant against someone who largely shares Althouse's view.
A final point: Althouse is quick to conclude that Democratic insiders knew that Biden was incompetent. But she has professed repeatedly that she cannot determine whether Donald Trump knew that his claims of a stolen election were without merit. Where is the cruel neutrality?
To investigate the questions Althouse posed would start a trail, leading to a smoking gun with Barack Obama's fingerprints all over it. No one in the Democratic Party or MSM wants to go there. Better to throw a few Biden cronies under the bus for the enfeeblement cover up. Modified limited hangout, I believe is the apposite term.

She did make a good point and she did state it well. She knew the Democrat party was corrupt and based on lies. She knew all of this and tried to convince her party members to not be evil disgusting shitheads.
She knew that she had participated in all of those lies. Additionally she refuses to apologize to the people she lied about and continues to support the Regime that she knows lied to her and everyone else. Everything she said that led her to support the Democrat party was a lie.
Knowing this she continued to support the Democrat party and cheered on their efforts to kill or jail Trump.
This is how Totalitarian Regimes operate through the support of people who are willing to compromise morals for power. She wasn't trying to convince people not to support Biden because of any principles. She was trying to get her fellow evil shitheads to support someone who had a better chance of keeping power.
Stephen: I agree with you on Goldberg. Above I pointed to he linked column from 2022. But overlooked how in that she linked to her 2019 column on Biden on the campaign trial where she also pointed to his age-relatated failing in 3 appearances she witnessed. But not just a question chronology. 2 of his main rivals in 2020 were about his age, Sanders and Bloomberg. But one did not hear them being attacked for being infirm. Goldberg was writing in 2019 about a Biden specific issue.
Stephen said...

The 2020 election was obviously fraudulent. The fact that the regime resorted to:
1. censorship
2. arresting dissidents
3. locking observers out of vote counting stations
4. Boarding up windows at vote counting stations after observers were removed
5. Simultaneously shutting down all vote counting in 6 states and reopening counting hours later with Biden in the lead
6. Blocking all attempts to audit the election from outside entities
7. Destroying records
8. Destroying ballots
These are all statements of fact. You can't argue that these things did not happen. It is on video and it is in court records.
There is only one conclusion that you can draw from these events about this election. And the fact that Biden magically ended up with millions more votes than either Hillary before him or Kamala after him just makes it plainly obvious they created millions of ballots for Biden in 2020.
"Original Sin" is the modified limited hangout.
There is no plausible way the media wasn't well aware of Biden's condition, and studiously looked the other way. This is the way they are going to try to get past it. "We were misled by the bad guys on the Biden team." Which is nonsense. Your job is to ask the bad guys and the good guys the hard questions, and report honestly what you know.
"During the Biden administration the economy added 16.6 million jobs and GDP grew 12.6% with the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years. Wealth, adjusted for inflation, rose a record 37% for the median American households. Not to mention the stock market at record highs. Since the left/media lied about Biden's mental capacity, why shouldn't I assume those figures are lies as well?
And the really fun piece is they may make a major motion picture from the Tapper etc book. Apparently negotiations have already begun. So what actors would sign on to be Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford of this generation?? If a book launch is having this result, imagine what a movie release would do for the 2028 presidential primaries.
Those figures derive from the low point of the Covid shutdown, and go from there. GDP and "wealth" were goosed by the massive infusions of "emergency" dollars into the economy through Covid relief and then the Biden "Inflation Reduction Act." And they changed the definition of "unemployment."
Other than that, those are perfectly legitimate figures.
Stupid people rise because they don't see the obstacles in their way and because they can be quite shameless. In today's world, the gatekeepers are also stupid and willing to promote stupid people.
In 2012, Goldberg criticized a column written in USA Today by Ann Romney, wife of politician and businessman Mitt Romney. Romney wrote that there was "no crown more glorious" than the "crown of motherhood." Goldberg responded that such phrases reminded her of "pronatalist propaganda of World War II-era totalitarian regimes." Conservative media outlets criticized Goldberg for the remark; she subsequently said, "I should have realized that right-wingers were going to pretend that I was saying that Romney is akin to two of the century's most murderous tyrants. ... I'm truly sorry to have given the right a pretext for another tedious spasm of feigned outrage." Wikipedia

Achilles,
I'm actually addressing Althouse, since she at least claims to be neutral. I have never observed you to utter anything but the straight MAGA line.
But since you mention it....
Those claims did not stand up in court--30 losses on the merits, one small win, that did not move the needle.
Not one of those claims was accepted by the Trump supporting electoral officials or the Trump appointed judges that reviewed them. Or by Trump's justice and homeland security departments. Or by any of the four Republican controlled state legislatures in AZ, GA, PA and WI. Or by either House of Congress, including a Republican controlled Senate. Or by Mike Pence, Trump's running mate. Or by a subsequent review of the evidence by conservative Republican jurists.
In fact there were recounts and audits galore, including after the election. None vindicated your claims.
It is well documented that rafts of Republican lawyers and office holders told Trump that he had lost. When Pence told him that, he responded, "You're too honest, Mike."
So if these were facts, why did just about everyone including a host of Trump supporting officials, judges, and lawyers
conclude that they were not facts and/or had no impact on the overall results.
Could "This is the best Joe Biden ever" be excused if no iteration of Joe Biden was ever very good? Maybe a senile Joe Biden who was tightly controlled by his handlers was better than a loose gun Biden? But no, you always had things like "minor incursion" to worry about.
Why are we still having this bootless discussion? If I, with access only to edited video that was publicly posted, knew Biden was mentally incapacitated in 2020 (and proceeded to get worse and worse over the ensuing four years), there is NO WAY that media figures who were actually ON THE SCENE as he bumped around stages like a Roomba and searched the crowd for dead people and read stage directions off his teleprompter could have "missed" it.
The only way Goldberg's piece could possibly be seen as factual is if, when she says "got it wrong," the "it" to which she's referring is "the way ordinary people would view our obvious duplicity."

We saw these things happen on video.
It is true a bunch of corrupt judges decided that there was "no standing" to challenge the legality of these events.
But these events all happened. You are a dishonest piece of shit if you think that lawyers and judges deciding it was OK makes it OK.
The election was obviously and clearly corrupt. A corrupt judge just discredits the legal system when refusing to hear any evidence about it.
And AGAIN, as our host was at pains to bring to our attention, the issue was never Biden's "age" no matter how often these same media figures tried to pretend that Republicans (and non-Republicans who dared to speak aloud about how clearly impaired Biden was) were ageist AND didn't have a leg to stand on because after all, Trump is old too.
Kak, TBH - you must know how ridiculous you sound when you say that Trump suffers from dementia; TBH is going to keep it up no matter what, I know, as all she's got is gross insult (in line with her handle), but Kak, stick to "Chaos! It's all chaos!", dude, because you are perfectly aware that Trump's mental faculties are intact. It's valid to say that you believe he's wrong and even that he's stupid (although the evidence of his life contradicts you handily there), but dementia? Show me one instance where he didn't know how to get off a stage.
Do you think Joe Biden remembers starting negotiations to temporarily replace Air Force 1 with a Jet Qatar?
Trump probably knew this all along and just let the Democrats and The Pravda dig themselves a nice deep hole.
The dominant media - progressive to their bones - ran cover for the Biden Crime Family from 2019 on and they now write positive reviews of this joke of a book. I’m not sure they could admit their wrongdoing if they had a gun put to their vacuous heads. They can’t even do it in an attempt to hold on to the credibility they, and only they, think they have.

Oh, sweetheart. Compared to you he's Mensa.

Remember all the 25th Amendment talk in 2017-19? Did anyone hear any in 2021 and after? Kamala must be even more unimpressive in private than in public. Yet she had the state delegations sewn up the day after Biden's withdrawal. How'd that happen?
"Rococo features exuberant decoration, with an abundance of curves, counter-curves, undulations and elements modeled on nature."
Trump's corruption has style!
Mr. Malarkey being a somewhat dim loudmouth, as he was in 1988, 2008, and 2012, isn't the same as the confused old man he had become by 2020, and whose decline could no longer be concealed in 2024. He may have been a little ball of barely controlled resentments and insecurities in 1988, occasionally exploding in public in embarassing ways, but he was in charge of his staff, and in charge of which policies he was advocating (regardless of whether he believed in his malarkey). During Bush II, when Biden proposed we partition Iraq along sectarian lines, as the British partitioned the Raj, that was Biden, not Biden-as-mouthpiece.
Biden 2020 was Biden-as-mouthpiece. Early in his Presidency, he did push back from time to time -- I think the withdrawal from Afghanistan happened because he pushed it through, and it ended up a confused mess because the professional civil service didn't want to withdraw and thought they could roll their senile boss, so they just didn't bother to prepare. But by the end, that stopped happening. He was more pliable.
But frankly, by 2024, even most of the people who wanted to vote for Biden knew perfectly well he was in no condition to run the country. They weren't voting for his judgment or leadership. They were voting for civil servants gone wild, with no adult supervision, no accountability to elected officials at all. That's what they wanted! If you look at Biden's poll numbers, they dipped after the debate, but they didn't collapse. Most of his supporters had already priced in the obvious fact of his mental incapacity. As long as he was still a viable candidate (well, for some definition of "viable"), they were happy to support him as a figurehead, behind which the bureaucracy could consolidate its power.
The Democrats (and I include Goldberg) don’t get it. To them, covering up Biden’s incapacity was justified to prevent Trump 47; now it must be condemned because it instead paved the way for Trump 47. They have yet to consider it on its own.
@balfegor
Yeah, I think you're right. I know people who were voting for exactly that, because it was better than Trump, supposedly.
I'm not a huge Trump fan, but I couldn't vote for a non-executive. Harris wasn't much of an improvement.
