Happy birthday Pete. Who’s the new boss? Is he like the old boss? Have you met him yet? Say hello to Roger.

Da Who.
I think that in Canada, the new boss is the Liberal Party, which just announce that they are taking control of internet streaming and policing content, to ensure that it reflects "Canadian values," as defined by the Liberals. They are taking this step despite having a minority government.

Maybe Bob reads Smalldeadanimals.
Who? Right.
Who's on first?
Who are you? I really wanna know
One of them is going blind. Googled. It's Daltrey.
Turns out Townshend is the new boss who is the same as the old boss. Just ask Ringo's kid!

It's part of their charm offensive to attract academics fleeing fascism.
Cornpone among the aged.
Turns out Pete is happy that he got old before he died.
Well, I speak for a lot of us I am sure, when I say that we were under the impression that when we were walking forwards, we'd end up further onward.
But things ain't quite that simple.
“Norm!” Came the cry from heaven.
This is a Pete Townshend demo for a song that would have ended up on his Life House Chronicles album. It's on the Who's Next: Life House Super Deluxe box set, and I discovered it earlier this year.

And yes, Pete was inconsistent with his usage re: Lifehouse and Life House.
Another cool track from that same Super Deluxe box set is Pete Townshend's original demo of "Baba O'Riley." It runs over 13 minutes and goes all over the place. Worth a listen if you have never heard this version:

Real-life Bob Dylan is growing ever-closer to my movie's Bob Dylan.
My movie — “Bootleg: Highway 61 Redacted” — is an alternative history of Bob Dylan in the aftermath of his 1966 motorcycle crash.
It is absurd and whimsical, wistful, a bit paranoid at times, and warm in regard to the subject. And: no profanity (imagine that — it is very PG).
It is intertwined with odd details, allusions, red herrings and a great abundance of stock footage from the 1950s, 60s and 70s (I love finding just the right ten seconds from an old home movie that transcends with its imperfections).
It is basically a comedy, part road movie, but it has a lot of crosscurrents of themes of identity and perception. And I believe ‘my’ Dylan is far more evocative than the Chalamet one: yes, I said it.
It is going on the festival circuit soon, but I am posting a private link here for beloved Althouse readers and commenters.

Seriously: you should give it a try. It is pretty much in vignette-style, so watch a scene or two, then come back later for a little more if you choose…
I am Laslo.
(I apologize: I gave up after multiple attempts at getting the link to work)
"I've sucked the milk out of a thousand cows"
Too bad Abbie Hoffman isn’t around for Pete to smack with his axe.

Yes. Pete Townshend is the one that's going deaf.
Allusions and Red Herrings Laslo? What about Easter Eggs and MacGuffins?

Oh, it's definitely got those, too!

Now someone must cover “dumb”.
This is no social crisis, this is you having fun
@Iman, I bet he sure plays a mean pinball.
That was very entertaining, Laslo. Thanks!
I watched the video for awhile and I feel like the girl from Hibbing in the video who went to visit Bob in New York City and concluded he'd made some different friends.
Now you’ve left me thinking about Elton John in his outrageous high heeled clogs, etc., Joe Bar. Damn you!
Laslo, that's great. Thanks for sharing the link. Definitely a road worth traveling.
I enjoyed it. I kept getting interrupted after 40 mins or so, and yet, I persisted. I liked the guy in the blue hat.
It's time for Roger to hang it up. I love The Who, but it's time.
OK, I had the weirdest dream last night after watching that Laslo movie. [Dream content redacted.]
My sincere thanks to Clyde, wildswan, Mr. D, and Jaq for giving my film a try — it is very much appreciated!
I don’t really follow Hollywood movies anymore; my interests don’t seem to align with the audience they are seeking. I suspect many here feel this in a similar fashion.
So I make my own movies instead.
And a special thank-you to Althouse. This blog — her posts, and the opportunity to comment back, no matter how absurd in manner — is what re-ignited my creativity those years past, and I truly value that highly…
I am Laslo.
@Laslo
Only had time to watch the first 15 minutes. Good stuff! Definitely know your Dylan. Some of it sounds like liner notes he never got around to writing, some may even be a preview of Chronicles 2. Will watch the rest later. Thanks for sharing it here!
