Claire McCaskill is the one who promoted Todd Akin as a straw candidate, and bragged about it. https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2015/08/todd-akin-missouri-claire-mccaskill-2012-121262

Oh my goodness. I guess I should wish now that I had voted for endless pension destroying inflationary spending, endless war, and endless immigration of unskilled labor. All policies that disproportionately benefit the rich and disproportionately harm the poor.
Very surprising the Jake Tapper book isn’t #1 on Amazon’s best seller list. It’s #3. With all the crazy publicity it should have been #1 as a pre order. Melania’s book was #1 in preorder for weeks and then was #1on the first day of publication - with almost zero publicity. Original Sin is only #64 on the kindle/audible best seller list. Not that great. Also why isn’t the co-author doing any interviews? BTW, like everyone else in Washington, Tapper also writes mysteries. He’s written 3 of them: the Charlie and Margret Mardur murder mysteries.
The Democrat Party is hobbled by certain people, McCaskill being one of them, along with Whoopie "Rape Rape" Goldberg, Jake Tapper, Oprah Winfrey and John Stewart.
As long as they have platforms, the Democrats are cooked.
Megyn Kelly did a pretty good job of holding Jake Tapper’s feet to the fire. Alex Thompson didn’t say much and his facial expression was one of consistent alarm, but there were some very telling moments.
BTW… it has been said that Claire McCaskill left a smelly, oily wet spot on every chair she sat on.
Progressive Democrats (politicians, media operatives with bylines, voters who choke their swill down) are liars, they unabashedly lie about nearly everything and their current situation - where they find themselves - will not improve until they are held accountable. They need to learn - the hard way, if necessary - that they may have fooled the idiots who vote for them, but the rest of America has their number.
Belated 100th birthday wishes to The Great Gatsby. Published 100 years ago in April 2025. Have seen no talk/buzz about that fact in popular culture. DJT - Please talk about the greatness of The Great Gatsby. We all know you read Althouse.
David Hogg looks like he's getting the boot from the DNC. He didn't get that the number one position is support the party. It's position 1, 2,3 and all from there. He wanted to challenge Reps in the next election. Bye David.
The Great Gatsby shows up every once in a while in the top 100 books sold on Amazon. BTW the #2 best selling book on Amazon’s best seller list (it beat out Original Sin for that spot) is Oh, the Places You’ll Go! by Dr Seuss
I watched Secretary of State Rubio figuratively rip the face off Maryland Senator Van Hollen and Secretary of Health Kennedy shred Washington Senator Patty Murray.
About time Republicans pushed back on Democrat lies.
BTW a book that has continually been on the top 100 best selling books on Amazon is James, a reimagining of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from Jim’s perspective by Percival Everett. There’s a movie in development. Stephen Spielberg is producing, Everett writing the screenplay and Taika Waititi directing.
On May 18, 1991, George Wendt hosted Saturday Night Live. The Cheers star, a Second City alum from the South Side, was a fan of the first “Super Fans” sketch. He was the perfect person to play Bob Swerski. In the second incarnation of “Super Fans,” Wendt fills in for his “brudder” Bill, “who’s still recovering from that dreadful heart attack.”
I forgot what sci fi story I read where the story referred to the "creative ages" as stuff that happened in the past, when people believed in stuff, and in the present people just rehashed the stuff that was produced in the past. Maybe it was a Herman Hesse novel, but it sure rings true.
Maybe I will rewrite The Great Gatsby from the POV of Tom Buchanan.
"Very surprising the Jake Tapper book isn’t #1 on Amazon’s best seller list." Really? I am kind of surprised that anyone wants to read it. I mean, at this point, what difference does it make? Can you imagine slogging through all 2-, 3-, or 400 pages of that AI-generated slop, just to find out that according to Jake, what was evident to at least 40% of the people paying attention at the time was somehow completely invisible to him? Chinatown, Jake. Chinatown.
The more interesting question is, What was Jake's advance? I have long wondered how all these utter nebbish politicos can get these 7-figure advances to write a book that makes oatmeal look exciting. I encountered a video the other day that explained it. He said that lobbyists arrange for a publisher to give a huge advance to some shithead, braindead politico, with the understanding that the lobbyist will buy thousands of copies of whatever toxic sludge is eventually churned out. Then the politico hires a ghost-writer, and the deed is done. I gather, that problems arise when the politico imagines that it would actually be helpful for them to be involved in the writing of their book.
Yes, Eva Marie, Thompson didn’t get much of a chance to say anything, but he did weigh in. Tapper was fighting like Hell to hang hang on to the shred of credibility HE thinks he still has. It didn’t work out for him at all.
Pardon me. That should have been, "I gather, that problems arise when the politico imagines that it would actually be helpful for him to be involved in the writing of his book." When the sex is indeterminate, the gender is masculine.
"That smarmy little Nick Caraway sneaking my wife away to meet that bastard Gatsby, who ends up sleeping with her and then, if that wasn't bad enough, he tries to take her away from me. Oh, and Daisy, I'll forgive her, but what a piece of work! And! She killed my mistress! Speaking of whom, here is her husband, outside the door, waving a gun around! What to do. What to do?"
I believe this is the news cycle on the outrageous corruption of various kinds now evident at the highest levels in the US: First - The Simpsons prophecy the outrage Second - South Park issues a satiric sketch which, of course, is just a joke. Third - Journalists get hold of the story a - Lefty journalists spike the story; write a series denying the story; win the Pulitzer; and are promoted. b - Conservative journalists publish the story. The White House denies it; the FBI, the IRS, and the CIA, and a Senate and a House Committee investigate the journalist and have him/her arrested at dawn by Federal Marshals with drawn guns; a mob protests at their children's day-care, kindergarten, grade school, high school and college; the journalists are fact-checked by Snopes, retired intelligence agents, and professors from Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Columbia; ridiculed by late-night comedians; fired, cancelled, mobbed and disinvited. Fourth - The the story comes out anyhow due to independent media within which all the right wing journalists are now clustered. a. The left writes the story and wins several Pulitzers for explaining how they covered up the story previously. They are all promoted just before their paper, show or podcast shuts down forever. Brad Pitt, and George Clooney star in the movie; the Obamas collaborate with the Sussex's on the Netflix series.
Biden began taking extraordinary amounts of time off from his duties as President starting right away in 2021. Is this untreated cancer the reason why? Was his mental decline related to pain-killing drugs? How could he get pain-killers without his doctors knowing why? If they knew why, why wasn't he treated? There's no need to go after Biden any more but the people around him should do some explaining.
"Obama made it all about race when a black man was affected by a police action or killed by a non-black person. (George Zimmerman was called a “white Hispanic.”) It’s no surprise that the BLM movement began under Obama, nor that the fiction of “systemic racism” took hold, nor that the black victimization ideology became omnipresent." https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2025/05/we_re_living_barack_obama_s_racial_legacy_in_real_time.html
"..How could he get pain-killers without his doctors knowing why?." Hah, that's pretty funny, considering the way bags of cocaine popped up in the White House under full-time Secret Service coverage.
"RCOCEAN II said... Yeah, sad that "Norm" died. All the other cast members are still alive though. There's all getting up in years. "Frasier Crane" is the baby at 70."

Norm from Cheers passed away. 76 years old. Died peacefully in his sleep.
MSNBC's "McCaskill says Americans weren't 'smart enough' to keep Trump away from WH"
A former senator said that.

Keyword being "former."

That was Alex Thompson? That’s funny. He didn’t say a word in the segments I saw. Tapper had his sadly concerned James Comey expression on.
Yeah, sad that "Norm" died. All the other cast members are still alive though. There's all getting up in years. "Frasier Crane" is the baby at 70.
Kirstie Alley also gone…
@ROCEANII You forget Nick Colasanto, who played Coach, and who passed away in 1985.

Regarding the announcement of Joe Biden’s prostate cancer, former Washington Post columnist Taylor Lorenz wrote this on X:
”Hopefully he rots in hell and rests in piss.”
That’s the Left, classy all the way.
