Andrew Cuomo "blames the leftists in the State Legislature, who never liked him no matter how many left-wing priorities he passed..."

"... gay marriage, a $15 minimum wage, paid family leave, a fracking ban, free state-college tuition, legal marijuana, and stricter gun laws—and who were lying in wait to take him down. The allegations [of sexual harassment] were just a pretext, in his view, especially at a moment when the progressive wing of the party had the upper hand in the Democratic coalition."

From "The (Partial) Reinvention of Andrew Cuomo/He says he’s grown and learned. His brute-force takeover of the mayor’s race, at least, looks familiar" (NY Magazine).

"Cuomo... maintains that much of the whole affair was concocted by [state attorney general Letitia] James, whom Cuomo endorsed for the position and who, in a kind of gubernatorial attempted coup, ran for the job herself after he resigned.... 'That women’s issue was so electric that once somebody lights that fuse, you can’t stop it in that environment. Politicians were like dominoes—boop, boop, boop, boop,' he said, mimicking with his fingers the tumbling of the play tiles...."

Resigning was always a head-scratcher The accusations, even if true, seemed not to warrant removal from office. There is a lot more to this story that we're not being told. Whether that involves criminal behavior or just ruthless power politics, I don't know. But someday some journo will write a tell-all book

Now if he can find someone to blame for the pesky nursing home issue his future is bright.

When she's kicking you in the nuts every day, resignation starts to look like a good option. Come back and fight another day, when it looks like the boots are at the cobblers shop.

Know that if you're out, someone will always be there to drag you back in. That's his story and he's sticking to it.

Sexual harassment is and has always been a negotiation, turned into a women's woek legal upper hand.

It's not like everyone in office has passed some sort of moral standard. For a disturbing percentage of them it seems like a job requirement since they can Cuomo you when you fall out of favor...or line...

People never change. But sometimes they find other avenues, other careers, other things to do with their lives once they've been tossed out of something. Not politicians. They can do only one thing. And so, he will be the next Mayor of New York. Because this is how New York goes.

His policy of putting COVID patients into nursing homes for the elderly killed a lot of old people who otherwise might still be alive today. He did it deliberately just to increase the COVID death count during Trump’s first administration and to cut back on the number of elderly people receiving state resources.

He doesn’t deserve to live in Gracie Mansion. He deserves to end his days in a cell on Rikers Island.

The Dems have a desperate, nostalgic longing for someone who seems halfway normal to lead their party. Cuomo brings a solid resume of ordinary, decent unscrupulousness and good, old fashioned sexual misconduct, all of which presents as an a heart-warming return to Clintonian normalcy in today's party.

So vote for the guy who foisted all that crap on you for the purpose of getting the leftists at the state house to like him.

Since he cucked on everything in order to stay in office, why didn't he have a sex-change operation? That woulda worked.

What are we supposed to do, feel sorry for him? He was controlled by the Left, and gave them all they wanted in terms of policy. Even his CV-19 crackdown. He reminds me of the other Cuomo, Mario, who was supposed to be so wise and reasonable. Yet, in policy he was a typical leftist.

Funny how Cuomo has never paid a price for all those nursing home deaths. How many old people died due to his policy? 10,000 ? 20,000? BTW, I suprised to learn the whole ventilator thing that we had so much concern about, wasn't really to help the old people with CV-19, it was to protect the medical staff.

From GROK :

Data from various studies, including one published in JAMA in 2020, showed mortality rates for ventilated COVID-19 patients over 65 exceeding 90% in some hospital systems, like those in New York during the early pandemic surge. Age was a major factor: patients over 65 were far less likely to survive mechanical ventilation compared to younger cohorts, with some analyses suggesting they were over 20 times more likely to die if ventilated.

It’s not that fallen politicians won’t do something else when they fall, it’s that they’re incapable of doing something else.

There is a reporter named Fred Dicker who has (or had) the Albany beat for the New York Post. Several years ago when Cuomo was still in the governors mansion, Fred said in an interview that as bad as Cuomo was, there were a large number of people in his own party who want to take NY to the left of California and that there were a large number of billls sitting on Cuomos desk that he has flatly refused to consider, let alone sign.
This is why that shrew is currently sitting in the governors mansion, but there is an agreement between her and the state house; You can sit in that chair as ling as you sign what we put in front of you. Failure to do so and your husband will find himself under indictment for whatever we choose to charge him with.

Newsflash: Ruthless, cynical, career politician from NY political dynasty, says he's bitter & twisted about being the subject of the dirty tricks campaign that pried him out of office for still-undisclosed-but-probably-criminal reasons. New Yorkers will probably vote that corrupt P.O.S. back into power, and get treated good & hard, if history and behavior patterns run to form. I wonder if he still sports his nipple rings.

His little brother was on Bill Maher's podcast recently. He was sounding like a compassionate free market populist. Once again you guys should be jumping for joy at how Donald Trump has completely flipped a number of people over to the dark side, lol

This is exactly why, when I was hospitalized with COVID-related pneumonia, I refused consent for a ventilator and did not nor will I ever sign a final directive. This forced the hospital to use other measures for treatment. They started with remdesevir (even though I was 10 days post COVID-19 infection), but also (hooray!) hit it with antibiotics and steroids. I was on oxygen and though it took another ten days for me to be discharged to home, I improved and was back to normal by about two weeks post-discharge.

"Boop, boop, boop," playing with his fingers? Fingering boops got you into this mess, Andy.

It is a good illustration of what happened to the Democratic Party. The progressives of the day backed Cuomo's father to keep Ed Koch out, even though they would really have wanted Bella Abzug or Liz Holtzman or Ramsey Clark. If Cuomo is right about today's progs, there is no Ed Koch and no Republicans to worry about, so the progs don't need Cuomo.

But look, Andy was the guy who said, "We were never great." That's proggier than what a lot of Sander's supporters have said. Andy couldn't shake his straight white Boomer maleness or his Mafioso looks and ways, but he did try very hard to be what the left wanted.

Letitia James ran on a campaign platform of "I'll get Trump." The 30+ "felonies" involving Trump's lawyer recording NDA payments as "legal expense" instead of "campaign expense" was the result of the "Get Trump" promise fulfilled. Cuomo's an A-hole, but James is evil.

If Cuomo doesn't win outright, the ranked-choice bullshit will probably give New York the hard-left mayor it deserves: a more hard-working and enthusiastic version of DeBlasio.

MadisonMan said...

It is odd to me that the two best choices here are Andrew Cuomo and Letitia James! Really, Dems? Those two are the best you can find? This is a symptom of a party in the throes of Mediocrity.

New York is a case study in the incremental disintegration that ensues, and then builds upon its disintegrative momentum, when there are no enemies to the left.
They don't seem to understand that Wall Street's physical location is a footnote. Wall Street exists in the cloud. There is a limit to how many feathers they can pluck from the golden chicken.

Reading the comments above, I get the impression this Cuomo guy has a fairly sordid past in govenment, without any redeeming features in his private life that would suggest he is worthy of any elected position of trust and responsibility. Therefore, knowing the Democrat Party as it has existed for my entire life, I'd bet he gets elected again.
Yes, this is acceptance of the fallen state of the person and the party, both. What we gonna do about it, other than avoid NY state and city for any business purpose?
