Every report I read on someone who loses a job because of DOGE says they are losing their dream job. It makes me wonder what my dream job would be. I'm not sure.
Belated for Betsy Arakawa and Gene Hackman after brooding.
All the speculation. I know nothing.
My feeling, my wish:
Quoted by Hackman in “Uncommon Valor” to warriors embarking on a hopeful, though not guaranteed rescue, knowing they all might die. And knowing that they knew they all might die.
“If we do meet again, we'll smile indeed; If not, 'tis true this parting was well made. Why, then, lead on. O, that a man might know the end of this day's business ere it come! But it sufficeth that the day will end, And then the end is known. Come, ho! away!” - Shakespeare, Julius Ceasar, Act V - Scene I The Plains of Phillipi
Who knows but that Betsy and Gene took this oath, or an even higher one?
This was a stupid war and Biden should have picked up the phone and worked out a deal with Russia that kept Ukraine intact before it even started. Crimea voted to join Russia, and for those who say the election was rigged, would you vote to stay with a country like Ukraine that had just outlawed the use of the language spoken by you and your ancestors for centuries and outlawed your church? Would you vote to have all of your judges and politicians speak only a different language? We know what happens. It happened after the fall of Rome. The Goths kept the Roman courts, but all of the judges were Goths, and if you were Goth and wanted to get rich, you simply sued a rich Roman, it won't take three guesses which way the judgement will go, no matter the law. The election was fair, it makes perfect sense for ethnic Russians to vote to leave a country that hates them and considers them traitors.
The perfect pancake was discussed last night- but I read it today some time. Obviously that's a matter of opinion. Having said that- no one has ever complained about my pancakes.
Easy start- any brand buttermilk pancake mix. Made with milk- whole milk- not water, no matter what the instructions say. Whip an egg into it- though the recipe usually says just do that if making waffles. Add ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and vanilla to taste. Don't pour too much or too little on the griddle. Easy peasey. Fed 'em to my kids. their friends, and a bunch of Scouts and leaders on various camping trips. With real maple syrup, not the cheap stuff. No one has ever complained. A few months after one trip one Scout mother said to me- "I started adding milk to my mixes- it really does make them taste better!"
Part of my philosophy for getting children to eat- the more it tastes like dessert- the more likely they are to eat it.
Chicken breasts have almost no taste- you have to add things to give it some. Mix up some orange juice with the aforementioned spices. Completely cover the chicken breasts with the mix. Soak it for 3-4 days in the fridge- shaking it up at least once daily. Charcoal grilled or cooked in a pan- it's good. No one has ever complained about that either. Sometimes I throw in some garlic.
If Trump were to solve the supply problem of fentanyl and cocaine, there remains the demand problem. There are plenty of people who still want the stuff, and could get ugly, or uglier, if they couldn't get it.
It occurs to me that posting stupid offensive comments over and over on a website that you know will soon delete them is the moral equivalent of sending unsolicited dick pics. Only a pathetic and loathsome technically-human being would do either.
I don't know what mine would be specifically, but it would probably be something that is challenging and keeps me interested and wanting to go to work every day OR something where I could goof off and just show up occasionally - like just for lunch meetings at one of the finer area steak houses (expensed, of course) . Unfortunately, most jobs I've had have been somewhere in between those two extremes.
@Madison Man, who can't figure out how the Mafia0 works. "It makes me wonder what my dream job would be. I'm not sure."
What if you had a no-show job? You don't have to show up to work, but you still get that kiss in the mail every two weeks. What if on top of that you got a 9% 401K kick for 20 years? What if you could do that while being a functioning alcoholic? What if, after you retire in 20 years (not 40, like the rest of us) you get a 7-figure pension for the rest of your life?
Very close to a Nuclear deal with Iran says the King..Wrong says thE boss of Iran.Dont trust no americans especially a trump..trump says military war coming, great what about the price of eggs and getting groceries down, Still trying for the Nobel, you bailed out of 1st agreement because Obama got er done and now you want some glory. What the fuk did you think the kinfg of Iran would say Oh sur eI trust you>> so now your gonna bomb em? ASS BACKWARDS..
I have my dream job. It consists of working on a theory of quantum electrodynamics. I do most of my work between 2 and 5 AM. I'll wake up at 2, and start thinking about, say, magnetism. The magnetism issue. It's complicated. So I'll ponder on it, for an hour or so, mostly in terms of imagery, but some math, too. And then I realize that it is 5, and while I was continuously following a cogent thread of logic, I must have been asleep at least half the time. So, I go back to sleep for an hour or two, and then get up and address my day job. Which is a BS job for a government contractor. I'm wondering when DOGE will get around to us. But yeah, I have my dream job. In my dreams.
I have to say, DONKEY DICK 45, the way you describe it, it makes no sense at all. But it's hard to tell whether that's because the thing you are describing is senseless, or, maybe, your train of thought has a few rails missing. Could you give me a sample, for comparison purposes, of your typical thought process? Like, explain flossing. As you see it.

Here ya go... "Very close to a collab with Pardison Fontaine," says Belcalis. "Wrong," says thEE Stallion of Houston. "Dont trust no Nuyorican, especially a 'B'." Cardi B says rap war coming. What the fuk did you think the Cognac Queen would say, "Oh, sure I trust you"? So now you're gonna floss em? W.A.P. BACKWARDS..
Well Trump just showed a card and it's going to be really hard for him to un-show it. He cut off active intelligence sharing by American personnel and infrastructure, you know, satellites, drones, AWACs, etc, and suddenly Ukraine can't launch the Storm Shadow missiles anymore, or the ATACMS, etc. There are two ways to target an ATACMS, GPS, where you enter the coordinates from a map for your target, which Ukraine could plausibly do, or program it with detailed mapping data that only the US has, well, Russia jams GPS... so has become undeniable that US personnel have been actively involved in missile attacks on Russian territory. It's stopped now, but if it begins again, we can no longer plausibly deny that we are in a state of war with Russia, which has missiles now which can wipe out deep bunkers and entire bases, like naval facilities, all across Europe, without using nukes, and which cannot be shot down except by perhaps and incredibly lucky shot.
These are the chips that Joe Biden pushed onto the table because he believed that Russia was weak and that this was the time for us to provoke them into a war. Well he bet wrong.
We say that Russia is lying when they claim that this is an existential war for them, but that's precisely why we provoked it, because we thought that this war would lead to the end of Russia. When we say that Russia is just paranoid, that's just gaslighting, and I think that they are tired of being gaslighted.
If you can't have empathy for the situation that the Russians find themselves in, you can never understand what is going on. We move from our perceived self interest, and Russians move from theirs. What is our interest in making sure that Ukrainians rule over ethnic Russians in Ukraine and that Ukraine not be neutral? It's obviously not those two things, yet we rejected peace over these two issues. What do we want from this war that makes it worth WW3? We wanted to end the existence of the Russian Federation as a potential threat, and oh, BTW, loot Russia's resources the way the West has been looting Africa for centuries.

Jaq, ref US targeting assistance: This is why I wanted Trump to just ask Congress for either a declaration of war or a hot cup of STFU. He knows that killing Russians while pretending to be neutral (or, depending on how you look at it, pretending to be on Ukraine's side while not killing enough Russians to win) is dangerously unsustainable.

C’mon Flagg!
Flow... the movie. I really like it.
My dream job is to have $100 million USAID dollars show up in my account every month.
Josephbleau - well be sure to thank all the tax payers who made that happen.
