The subheadline half-justifies this reporting as "news": "The president is spending Christmas in St Croix, one of the US Virgin Islands, after a reasonably busy month."
What does "reasonably" mean there? I read it as: almost enough to deflect really harsh accusations.
From the middle of the article:
“There’s a great level of disappointment on the way this presidency is ending. It’s almost like a resignation at this point,” a Democratic lobbyist told The Hill. “Among Democrats, nobody’s looking forward to Donald Trump being president but everybody’s ready for the Biden presidency to be done.”

What the Democrats did in July was to say: “Well grandpa, we can’t let you renew your license on your next birthday — but until then you can keep driving and we’ll force the family to be your passengers.”
So far they’ve almost made it through without a catastrophic failure, but their fingers are still crossed.
In all fairness, Biden must be exhausted after researching all those clemency petitions.
Democrats were ready for his term to be done after his debate. Maybe even before that. They knew he was a political landmine. It was just a matter of time before it was stepped on and exploded. Never underestimate Joe’s ability to F things up. And that was when he was coherent.
Quiet Quitting best describes the press, as they lay down their weapons after eight years of aggressively fighting trump.
Joe Biden has spent 40% of his days as President "on vacation."
That is ... he works only 3 out of 5 days per week on average. A little over 4 if you count weekend days. He has never worked a "reasonable" amount.
It is misleading to suggest that the "press" has ever used their weapons against a Democrat.

"[W]hile naming a new ambassador to Denmark — which controls Greenland’s foreign and defense affairs — Mr. Trump made clear on Sunday that his first-term offer to buy the landmass could, in the coming term, become a deal the Danes cannot refuse."

We did buy the US Virgin Islands from Denmark. There is a precedent here.

Is this more evidence Biden voted for Trump and reads Althouse?
And on those three days, what, about three hours?
Democrats nominate Kamala Harris for president.

They quietly quit reporting on the Presidency in 2020. Otherwise we would have known (instead of just strongly suspecting) that Biden was non compos mentis.
They want it over because what little conscience they have is overwhelmed with guilt and gullibility over spending the last year propping up embarrassing candidates.
I took receipts and filed them away for when they try to reinvent themselves after the holidays…
To make more of a splash on his way out (and to get it over with more quickly), does Joe step down on January 1 and become the sole enabler of the first female US President (he was the one that brought her onto the Dem ticket as VP, and his action to step down would put her in the position of the Presidency without a single further vote required).
I think nominating Tim Walz as her running mate made it a two-fer.
Although Biden has his unique set of characteristics that make him taking plenty of time off seem worthy of wondering about, if I had to guess, I'd guess that every lame duck president adopted a leisurely approach to their presidency in its last month or so. Throw out some pardons, take as many rides as you can on Air Force 1, do a couple of really nice holiday parties in the White House. Savor the benefits of being POTUS, while dialing it in.
"...sole enabler of the first female US President."
Define female.
Aw, man, put a lid on it.
"Cackles inappropriately"
Given what he does when he is "at work," I would suggest he remain on the beach for the next month.
Perhaps they should've had a great level of disappointment on the way his presidency began, what with the mysterious disappearance of almost 4 million voters (not votes) and all...
To "quit" one must first start a task. As Biden was installed as a figurehead by backroom manipulators with true power, he merely responded to commands from Jan 21, 2021 onwards. After Kamala took over he was tasked to stay out of the spotlight and he obediently complied.
I'm almost waiting for the press to start pushing out stories about how hard Biden's team has been working to make it seem like the US still has a President. Those unrecognized, hard working, tireless souls lifting America's spirit right to the end.
What is he 'quitting', besides the occasional sad public appearance? He hasn't had any Federal responsibilities for about 4 years, now.
If it weren't Biden and if he hadn't been such a nasty piece of work all of his career (and doubtless his entire life) I'd have some pity for him. And since I consider pity to be little more than refined contempt, I don't know nor waste the time searching for the appropriate word. Perhaps loathsome in spite of his deteriorated condition. These people have spent so much time pissing on our legs and trying to make us believe its raining you have to wonder how they have managed to stay hydrated.
Wasn't it just published that Biden had zero Cabinet meeting for almost ONE year, Oct 2023 to Oct 2024? When's the last time he did a press conference, and took questions that had not been pre-approved? He quit a long time ago, and the press kept it quiet. That's Biden version of "quiet quitting".
We would've all been better off if he'd gone to St. Croix on November 8, 2024 and stayed there. Its not like he's running the White House.
WHEN hasn't he and his incestuous son been on vacation together??
There’s a great level of duplicity on the way this presidency has been run. It’s almost like a conspiracy at this point."
The idea behind that article is hilarious. Joe Shit For His Brains Biden hasn't been working at all in the last 4 years- so why start now?
I've been "retired" - from a paying job - for 15 years now (well, in two weeks from now). And in that time I don't think I've had a single month as lazy as Biden's "reasonably busy" December.
I listened to a debate this morning on whether Joe Biden's presidency will be remembered favorably.
I admit to starting out with a bias (a hard "no"). I didn't hear anything that changed that. I also thought the one arguing that history will not view his presidency kindly was too kind and forgiving and failed to challenge the one arguing for Biden having done well on some of his assertions.
The only one who should view the Biden presidency with favor is Jimmy Carter. He's no longer the worst president of my lifetime.
'Wouldn't surprise me if Biden were to step to a mike and say, "First of all I have this message for all Americans: Thank you for your pity".
Pity those tourists in St Croix, stuck in traffic due to Biden's immense presidential motorcade. Biden spent his 4 years in office mostly on vacation, or napping in his WH quarters.
Dixcus: "It is misleading to suggest that the "press" has ever used their weapons against a Democrat."
Misleading but true. They definitely fell upon LBJ. Which gave them Nixon, whom they then fell upon even more ferociously, to make up for their error.
Then they still had enough journalism in their tiny green hearts to go after Clinton, at least after it was impossible to make the story go away. And that contributed materially to give them eight years of W.
So to make up for that error, they redefined journalism for Trump.
But no worries, the R's (at least some faction of them) also learned from each of these episodes, so now the MAGA movement plays by similarly ruthless rules.

Quiet sabotage of his successor is more like it. And not that quiet at times either. FJB should be indicted ASAP in order to dissuade the Dem hacks still in office not to make trouble also. This would also make Biden sweat plus burn through some of his ill-gotten million$. It would be perfectly just if FJB had to blow a big chunk of his fortune that way methinks.
Let's go, Brandon!
Althouse's "biden drops out" tag raises a question. Did he ever drop in?
Dixcus writes, "[Biden] works only 3 out of 5 days per week on average. A little over 4 if you count weekend days. He has never worked a 'reasonable' amount."
For which we should offer boundless thanks to Providence. Imagine the damage Biden could have wrought had he worked at it.
GTFO!
"There’s a great level of disappointment on the way this presidency is ending."
Unreal. Joe's 'presidency' ended at some point 3 or 4 years ago. The American people have yet to be told exactly when he was removed and to whom the greatest power on earth was handed to w/o being elected. Until then, STFFU.
Quiet shitting.
The topic of Biden "quiet quitting" the presidency brings to mind the vignette involving Dorothy Parker who, when told that Calvin Coolidge had died, replied, "How can you tell?" Like all such apocryphal tales, one wonders if it is true, but it's too good to pass up.
