I used to believe that. There are sites that used to exist that no longer exist. I used to visit a site commemorating the 6985th Electronic Security Squadron of the 1970s and 80s. All the pictures, stories people shared, and evidence of what we did are gone. A few pictures show up on related sites but most are simply gone. Maybe they're archived in some government data base but I can't find them.

You don't look to Tyson as a source of wisdom, but there it is.......He's right about that legacy shit: You're rarely remembered for more than a few years after your death, and, of course, you yourself don't get to observe your legacy........The best way to have a lasting legacy is to kill a lot of people during your life. Genghis Khan, Alexander, Julius Caesar have inspired lots of movies and bios. I wonder who will be the preeminent mass murderer of the 20th Century. It looks like Hitler will get the nod over Stalin and Mao. That's kind of unfair to Stalin and Mao who killed far more people, but like everything else legacies are unfair.....Tyson might achieve lasting fame among his weight class. Who remembers the Brown Bomber? Ali is still celebrated, but soon the boomers will all have shuffled off this moral coil, and he'll pass into obscurity. Tyson, what with his rapes and ear biting, might be the heavyweight that posterity enshrines.
