Had our wild but semi-tame woodland fowl "Mallory" over for dinner tonight. She loves river shrimp and duck pellets for dinner and hanging out through happy hour on the river side patio.

Two deers and a doe by the old recycling pile. Next door neighbor’s Malamute tried to come in the back door. Rocco is entranced with her. I tell him, don’t trust women three times your size with long white hair. They just want to use you to get your kibble.
Nice. We’ve had a lone wood duck make the commute down for the winter the last two years. Seems perfectly happy to hang with whoever shows up. No sign yet but nobody’s here yet…
Democrats always measure success in terms of money spent. Not what they actually accomplish. Which is often little or nothing. And that’s on a good day.
CFP is saying Kamala Harris looks to be inebriated in this little clip. Maybe, maybe not. But what she says is absolutely excellent. Well done VP Harris: https://x.com/citizenfreepres/status/1861571313246040306?s=46
Sounds very heartfelt, but vacuous. Exactly what does she mean by "power"? If her supporters still have all the power they had before the election, does that mean the election had no effect? Doesn't that conflict with her claims before the election that this was an important election? Did anything change because of the election? If so, what?
She needs to be clearer about what she means by "power".

The theme is to not give up and keep working for justice and ideals, etc. That, apparently, is the "power" her supporters still have. Pretty standard stuff. Still pretty vacuous, though. Its also pretty irritating if you don't like being talked down to like a child.
It's been a little warmer than usual this year, but the deer have finally gone into rut, making them crazy. I had both dogs on the leash tonight, walking through the woods, and a buck stood there and watched us approach, about 30 ft away. Normally they go crashing off through the brush, snorting their warning to the herd, as soon as they glimpse movement - but there were a half dozen does, twitching their tail and we were in between, so.....
Been wondering....if Kamala was a bad candidate, and I think she was, is the fact that she lost popular vote by 2.4 million a good sign for the D's. What if they had run a good candidate, like Wes Moore or Josh Shapiro? DJT factor is hard to evaluate, also. Millions come out to vote against DJT, but he does bring out the low propensity R leaning voters that probaly stay home for a "traditional R" candidates.
Watched 2 Way with Mark Halperin tonight. Both Mark and Alex Castelloanos think DJT will go fast in his first few months. Also think DJT will keep doing podcasts and alternative media. They speculate he might even try to behave himself a little bit better. We will see on that last one.
“They speculate he [the Donald] might even try to behave himself a little bit better. We will see on that last one.” Trump is often compared to Reagan. But with this difference: With Reagan the catch phrase was “let Reagan be Reagan”. With Trump it’s “please, please let Donald not be Donald”. Hey, I just realized Ronald and Donald rhymes. “History Doesn't Repeat Itself, but It Often Rhymes” – Mark Twain.
Power is a conglomeration of what's classically imperium, potestas, auctoritas or officium, a so-called reification error to avoid saying which you mean.
I see that Walmart is the latest firm to start backing away from its previous embrace of DEI. I never saw DEI as anything other than affirmative action with quotas attached, and since i was under the impression that the courts had found quotas to be illegal, i wonder that DEI did not get slapped down years ago.
I am stealing this from some guy on Twitter named Mark Ames, but Harris insiders say that there was never a time in the campaign when Kamala Harris was leading, so it was basically "The Producers," a guaranteed loser, but they had over a billion dollars to spend, and spend fast. Their version of "Springtime for Hitler" was using Liz Cheney.
Looks like we are facing a WW3 that is going to be decided by manufacturing might or nuclear war. Who can make the most missiles and drones fastest? Well, it won't be us, although a couple of decades ago, before we offshored the strategic industry that we invented, micro-electronics, we would certainly have won.
So, nuclear war it is! Russia has just demonstrated a game changing intermediate range missile, but they only have them in limited quantities right now, and we have a senile old man who is controlled by others whose names we do not know in charge right now. We are doing everything we can to provoke the Russians into overreacting and widening the war. One can infer that Russia probably just wiped out Ukraine's main stockpile of missiles by the behavior of Ukraine and NATO, which is in a panicked mode shipping more missiles to Ukraine.
When Russia all but wiped out Ukraine's air force, leaving them, as a leaked call from a German general said, in the "single digits" of fighter bombers, the F-16s suddenly became all important.
Even without reading the BBC report of three hours of secondary explosions after the strike on a Soviet Era bunker system that the Ukrainians likely believed was safe from attack, even if the Russians knew that it was full of missiles, you can infer that they are suddenly desperate just by their behavior. Now the rumor is that the Germans are sending the missiles that they had refused to send up to now, because under German law, it's illegal for Germans to fight in foreign wars like this. Well, you have to hand it to the Ukrainians for their ability as the tail to wag the dog.
Oh yeah, and the head of NATO is saying that we will probably need to strike Russia first because they are so .... I don't know, rich in natural resources? Such good friends with China? Or some kind of threat to overrun Europe when they can't even overrun Ukraine, a trick Hitler had no problem performing.
I should have let hunters use the property this year. They’re tearing down all the woods and putting subdivisions in, and I don’t hunt, so our woods are seriously over-run. Deer really are like big rats. Big rats with ticks.
The season probably isn't over. Go ask some of the guys building the houses if they'd like to set up a deer stand. Thinning the herd makes healthier deer.

Campus seemed very empty today. I suppose tomorrow it'll be even more noticeable.
Pete Buttigieg, $76 Billion for 8 EV chargers
Kamala Harris, $42 Billion for zero broad band hook ups

Oprah Winfrey: $2.5 million of it.
BOOYA
Wonder how much Beyonce got? And boy I'll bet Robert DeNiro feels like an idiot about now giving it away for free.
"Pete Buttigieg, $76 Billion for 8 EV chargers

How anyone could have voted for that puzzles and worries me greatly.

Nice pics.

I don't get it.

Oh. You are being sarcastic. You think the Harris clip is vacuous too. (I just checked the website it came from.)
Is the unedited clip available? Perhaps she tells us what she means by "power" in the larger context.
Beyonce? Rumor has it she received $10M! Lizzo only received $2.5M or something. The "real Slim Shady" $1.5M.

Looks like the dems threw her out there to destroy any last vestiges of viability.
They are done with her.
And the blistering attack against the campaign by major mega dem donors ($1.5Billion in just 10 weeks!) seals her fate.
"Looks like the dems threw her out there to destroy any last vestiges of viability."
Destroy? Such a Debbie Downer. I'd bet Democrats in California would still vote for her.
