Rocky says Trump is George Washington.

I'd forgotten I had a "Trump is Epic" tag. I should go back into the archive and add it to a few things... a few hundred things.

We are casting off the yoke of a foreign enemy who hate this country.

The analogy works.

Dave Begley said...

A little over the top. But both were shot at by the enemy.

Dixcus said...

This is a horrible analogy. Washington actually shot AT people to protect our country. Trump GETS shot at.

They drew First Blood on Lexington Green.

People looking at Trump's comeback see an event for the ages--literally something that might still be studied and talked about 1,000 years from now. They make a good case.

But it is far too soon to say whether Trump is a curiosity or something much more consequential.

NB: Lexington and Concord was a military operation by the King to disarm th Minutemen. They fought to keep their guns.

Too many Democrats are fighting each other over campaign tactics, because it is easier than accepting that Trump was underestimated as a candidate. He was a “super candidate” with increasing appeal to a broader electorate-likely beyond the reach of both Democrats and Republicans. - Alex Soros

I don't think Trump is Washington (or Hitler). I do think actors are generally dumbasses, though, and Stallone is a good case.

PM said...

Gee, hope that helps Trump keep his confidence up.

Drago said...

No, its not.

Trump is already, historically, immensely consequential. We are at the point of determining over the next few years the degree of the already exrtraordinary consequentiality.

Are there any cherry trees at Mar-A-Lago? Because cherries are difficult to grow in Florida, I would think.

Oh shit, somebody better protect the Rocky statue. He's going to be wearing diapers. Or worse.

Saint Croix said...

"He's not getting killed. He's getting mad!"

Ampersand said...

Had no idea Trump owned slaves.

Dixcus said...

Have you seen who is pouring the coffee in the White House?

Dixcus said...

I've been there. To the exact spot. There's a small monument there and about an acre of "park" which consists of grass and one bench. The area surrounding it is practically a ghetto in the Massachusetts sense (i.e. a white ghetto ... they don't let blacks live there.)

I ignore celebrity no matter what side they are on.

Koot Katmandu said...

Wish they would just shut up and sing or act.

Not according to the liars in New York, Georgia, etc.

tim maguire said...

We can't know that for at least 20 years. We have no idea whether Trump will have a lasting impact or just be a blip on history's radar.

Definitely the one posting the assassin*** attempt.

AOC has removed the pronouns from her Twitter bio bro. We don't have to wait for any more history. Trump did that.

Mt. Rushmore, bro. GET ON IT.

I saw a photo of Trump in a boat crossing the Delaware and now I don’t know who’s who.

Did the boat have gold colored oars?

RideSpaceMountain said...

"Trump was seen crossing the frozen Delaware during Christmas to kill fedcoats."

Plausible.

rehajm said...

Yes but what does Bullwinkle think?

Dixcus said...

By the way, Ann ... not every President has operated the Presidency out of the White House. In this way, it may very well be that Trump will be like George Washington.

My prediction is that he will not run the country in Washington, DC. He will run it at Mar-A-Lago.

Kind of nice he respected the youngster's question. He could have been patronizing...

Play the Stallone clip from the beginning. He actually sounds eloquent.

There's a lot of rapids to row through in the next four years. A military coup led by Obama's clique of brass hats in the Pentagon, or open mutiny by the D.C. bureaucracy, could bring about a real shooting war.

All men aged 17 to 45, and all female officers in the National Guard, are members of the Unorganized Militia as defined in Title 10, Section 311, U.S.C. They are subject to being called up by the President to suppress insurrection, bearing weapons supplied by themselves.

If that's the only remaining way to keep the boot of the people on the throat of the Deep State and military-industrial complex, I'm in. We all die someday.

victoria said...

That's HUGE stretch. Rocky is losing it.

The founders did know that their success or failure would have an impact on the rest of the world, or at least Europe. It was probably more along the lines of "necessary but not sufficient," meaning that success would at least give Europe a chance, while failure would set the freedom clock back by centuries.

Was never a Rocky or Rambo fan, but this over-the-top scene made me LOL.

Rambo 4 Kill Count.

Mentioning George Washington in this context reminds me of the historians who point out that the American Revolution is one of the few revolutions that was "conservative" in nature. Those who rebelled did so to regain their rights as British citizens that had been stripped away by the elite royalty in Great Britain. Those regained rights were enshrined in our Constitution and, in particular, our Bill of Rights.

Washington wanted to make America great, but was entangled by Democratic legislation. He was concerned about the viability of minorities surrounded by terrorist nations.

James K said...

When I was a freshman in college and still not free of my leftist upbringing, I took a class on revolutions that covered the French, Russian, and I think Chinese, but pointedly ignored the American, for the reason you mention. I still remember the professor dismissing the American Revolution as a one-off exception (presumably only delaying the inevitable Marxist progression of history). Nearly 50 years later she's still preaching the gospel.

Not exactly George Washington in this photo but epic!

I have to say, I had no idea Sylvester Stallone... what, was a conservative? A Republican? A Trump supporter?

Whatever he is, we can all be sure he's a stupid Nazi, just like the rest of us.

I'm feeling a little bitter and a lot heartbroken right now - just cut off by a beloved relative, who says it's "not political, it's a moral issue" for him. Mm hmm. I wonder how he'll feel when his non-binary young adult child, whom we always call by a newly chosen name, because although I think this young person needs psychological help we are not out to cause pain, but whom this relative insists on deadnaming, cuts him off. As a moral issue.

Dixcus said...

Or themselves. Most of them lost everything they had (substantial losses). Many were murdered. Some killed by the British.

Nevertheless, they persisted.

Dixcus said...

He's a garbage person. Like the rest of us.

Robert Cook said...

Maybe Sylvester Stallone really did take all those hits to the head that we thought were just movie-acting!

Robert Cook said...

"This is a horrible analogy. Washington actually shot AT people to protect our country. Trump GETS shot at."

Mmmm. Maybe.

Robert Cook said...

"But it is far too soon to say whether Trump is a curiosity or something much more consequential."

Alas, he will likely be a consequential curiosity.

Maybe so. But what would be your excuse?

Ted said...

Donald Trump and Sly Stallone are 22 days apart in age.

The last President to change the direction of the country in a positive direction was Reagan. The rest at best slowed the negative drift, and the others actively advanced the negative drift. Trump #1 slowed the negative drift. We'll have see how Trump #2 does.

He may run the GOVERNMENT from his home. We elected him because we don’t want the President running the country.

Just think of him as a sinner, and forgive him. You might be surprised to see him come around after a while.
