SNL takes on the VP debate... and, yes, we get to see Dana Carvey as Joe Biden again.

And I love Jim Gaffigan as Tim Walz...

Okay, I laughed.

When the tyrant begins to lose their grip on power it goes slowly over time.

Then it goes fast.

This time is approaching for the regime. People are not going to forget or forgive the vaccines, open borders, wars, and the latest outrages in hurricane response.

Dana Carvey still has his fastball. The wine drinking was a subtle but useful clue. Walz remains, to use an alias from "Fletch Lives," Elmer Fudd Gantry, but that's not Gaffigan's shtick.

Some of last night’s show was funny. New writers?

Soon to be fired.

The firs question's answer from Vance sounds like lines that should have been given my Kamala.

"You know that is such an important question, Margaret, one that deserves an answer because it's important and it's a question that you asked of me tonight."

I was hoping SNL would poke some good natured fun at Doug's occasional lapses into boffing the babysitter or slapping his date. Maybe later. Apparently they're now willing to make fun of Biden's age and frailties. You just have to be patient.

The same biases and diminishing returns on being funny.

I saw the ice cream dripping down Kamala’s chin and I immediately thought of Willie Brown.

I thought the whole thing weak and bland but at least they did poke a few jabs at Dems, light jabs, harmless, and dumb. And I can no longer stand Jim Gaffigan after his anti-Trump screed a few years back. Tbh, I had tired of his schtick long before that.

They gave absolutely nothing of value to the poor actor stuck playing Doug.

Exactly what I thought as well. But then I realized that, yes, SNL even, was going to make fun of Walz - I mean they simply could not pass that up, could they - and so it was of course mandatory to make fun of Vance as well. But wait, Vance was pitch perfect in that debate, so what to do? No problem for the SNL lefties - just make up something about him and then mock that.

Sycophant Husband Doug is about as far as SNL will go. I doubt they will touch the girlfriend slapping stuff.

“The uploader has not made this video available in tour country.”

SNL never does. Another reason to hate them.

No thanks. They will never mock Democrats like they should.
Hard pass.

Not bad. Gaffigan pulls off a good Walz parody and Carvey is great. Maya Rudolph does an adequate Kamala. I'm with Lash LaRue wondering if they got a bunch of new writers.

Wow - The eyebrows on Norah and Margaret. Shazam!

Tried to watch. I like JD, and the SNL JD does nothing for me. I bailed.

Lets roll some footage of entirely mock-able JOKE candidate Kamala, shall we?

Number one

Number two

Number Three

I see it’s now it’s OK to admit our President is senile. Hilarious stuff.

Desperation move. SNL is signaling; "Vote for Harris! If you do you'll get four years of us ragging on Walz! If you don't, you get four more years of Alec Baldwin's crappy Trump impression!"

NorthOfTheOneOhOne said...

While that may be true, it's ridiculous to believe that anyone from SNL would be in the vanguard of a preference cascade. They will support the current regime until the bitter end. Go back and try again.

It only took until Crook Joe stepped aside for the writers and D-NBC to feel comfortable enough to let a small dose of mock thru the cracks. Bless their hack-hearts.

"I see it’s now it’s OK to admit our President is senile."

Maybe the subtext is to say that the job of president doesn't require brains or fortitude? Vote Kamala!

Harris's most mockable characteristic is her over the top cackle. Rudolph only gives a subdued version. That's not an accident.

Don't think they're not still in the tank. The most sensible and responsible adult in that comedy sketch is Harris. That's the message.

The most memorable image from the VP debate was Walz’ bug-eyed deer-in-the-headlight stare and nervousness. Gaffigan didn’t even attempt to riff on that obvious theme; he was jovial, friendly or just plain confused instead.

strange tweaks of various noses on SNL players >> sneak attacks to pass censors?

The writers are preparing for the day Trump loses or is assassinated. They can't spend the next 4 to 8 years mocking him, when Harris/Walz are the Whitehouse residents.
Baby steps.

I was bored

Their "JD Vance" acted like Walz actually acted. It was pitiful

Greg The Class Traitor said...

Pimp Hand, that's Achilles point: SNL is turning against Harris (while still lying about Vance).

If they're doing it, the preference cascade is well in progress

Althouse the link is now a video from the Lake, not from SNL. Something changed.
