Obama's in Madison today — with Tim Walz in tow — but where is he appearing?

I've been seeing Facebook ads for this event for days and getting email, but it all lists the location as "TBA." Example:

"Exact address to be announced."

Why the big secret? Security? I'm going to guess that they'd like to use a big arena, but only if there's going to be the right size crowd. It can't be allowed to be seen that Obama does not draw in the masses.

They don’t want you to show up because they’ve hired a stunt crowd…

I think we have a winner.

rehajm said...

If true the form is to reduce the suspicion the whole effing thing is fake. Lots of ‘I filled out the form but I wasn’t selected to attend’ from the adoring Madisonians…

Steve Sailer has had to do the same thing on his book tour--you buy a ticket and then they tell you where the event is--because of Antifa et al threats causing cancellations for ten years.

Someone tracked where the phones came from at a previous Harris Madison event. 30% were from Georgia, the rest from towns in WI, MI, and IL. Did they want some black people in the crowd?

It’s creepy, like telling you the drop location for the bag of ransom money…

Madison?

Where next? Campaigning in DC?

Bingo!

WISDEMS, but no WISDOM.

Meade not allowed. Dems can’t deal with any opposition.

Dave Begley said...

I would love to see a debate between Barack and Ann. The topic: Why Kamala Harris should be elected President.

Leland said...

They’ll bus in a crowd as easily as they will mail in a vote. Besides, if anyone was allowed to attend, they might ask questions.

Dave Begley said...

Walz did the same thing in Omaha last Saturday.

Dave Begley said...

Note the language. You can bring a partner, but what about a spouse? Partner is the Dems default.

MartyH said...

Please attend if you can. I’d love first hand observations, if only from outside the venue.

gilbar said...

can't they (WON'T They?) just bus in homeless people, from chicago?

gilbar said...

expecting to be Allowed to attend a political rally, is as silly as expecting to have YOUR vote count

If Obama's out campaigning, who's running the country?

R C Belaire said...

Why is the pattern "President Obama" and always "Former President Trump?" One gets the impression that there's some bias in play...

rehajm said...

They have billions of dollars in donations to waste. They can afford to hire fake employed looking people…

Guessing game. Walz and Obama. Which one's the bottom?

"Pending capacity restrictions" it says. Uh huh. What does it say about democrats that they have moved on to the extent even Obama can't really be relied upon to draw a crowd? The most generous interpretation is that because his presence is needed for these impromptu events the USSS did not have time to adequately prepare a venue and screen the attendees. Keeping location secret until the last minute is one way to make assassin's plans more difficult.

Although that "last minute" golf game in Florida sure didn't work out for Trump, did it?

If the Jackasses played the crowd-size game the way that Trump does, actual attendance is not important at all. Trump just tells his cult that the arena was filled to overflowing and latecomers stood in the rain, cold , snow, wind - whatever outside.

I am not a Democrat, but I do remember back in the day when Sarah Palin was the GOP VP candidate that she drew larger crowds than John McCain.

Tim said...

Exactly. If you run an astroturf campaign, you have to be consistent. Obama needs that crowd to be enthusiastic, with no inopportune boos mixed in.

Left Bank of the Charles said...

No big secret. If you had signed up you would have been told where the rally is.

Breezy said...

10am to 6pm?? They haven’t nailed the time yet either?

AMDG said...

It should be Mr. Obama and Mr. Trump.

tcrosse said...

Maybe it's because Obama is president in fact.

MadisonMan said...

I've heard it was at Alliant Energy Center. The road construction on John Nolen might cause an issue if so. But maybe the person who told me that was just saying something without evidence.

DarkHelmet said...

It's surprising to me that the campaign thinks that big goofy face of Walz on the announcement is going to draw anybody. Interesting that the image consultants told him to lose the glasses. Prior to becoming the VP pick I never saw a picture of him without them. Without the glasses he radiates even less gravitas. Negative gravitas, in fact.

Just read the Wisco State Journal with the headline that the event will be at the Coliseum (which has a capacity of 10, 200) Doors open at 10 am for the afternoon event. I'm driving by on the beltline about 11 am. Hope it is not a problem.

The overall message: You're not invited!

This reminds me of the Dukakis campaign in his neighboring state of New Hampshire, where he never appeared except in front of invited crowds.

I'm trying to recall how Michael found out in advance the restaurant where he was going to meet Sollozzo and Capt. McClusky.

Dan from Madison said...

I've been wondering when someone would bring this up. It is common form to refer to any ex-President as Mr. President, or President and has for some time. The media has to use EX president or former president for Trump for "reasons".

Unseen, Michelle is giving Obama an I-told-you-so face and he's blinking "help me" back at her.

“…with Tim Walz in tow…” pretty much says it all.

You better watch out, you better not fly
American flags, I'm tellin' you why
Obama is comin' to town

He hears you when you're speaking
He knows if you're not woke
He knows if you hate Trump or not
And believe me, it's no joke

The kids in girl and boy land
Will have a jubilee
Things might get confusin'
When you go to take a pee

So say you like Tim even if it's a lie
And Kamala too, I'm tellin' you why
Obama is comin' to town

tim in vermont said...

Joe Biden's first big decision was Kamala Harris, and the decisions following that have been even worse, and her first big decision was Tim Walz, so we know what is coming if she wins.

Levi Starks said...

Maybe he’s not coming at all, and it’s just a ruse to get your contact information.

Steve said...

The fact that Kamala’s biggest star is going to
Wisconsin with two weeks left in the race is especially telling. Michigan Pennsylvania and Georgia are where the election is going to be won. It will only be lost in Wisconsin.

KJE said...

The same thing occurred during Harris’ recent visit at UW-Milwaukee. Very quiet that she was coming, and no real notice as to where on the campus she was appearing.

That’s fear you smell.

"Someone tracked where the phones came from" makes this an ironclad fact. I always believe what someone says on the internet.

They should go to a Madison McD's for lunch, obviously, and make it FUN. Even ask to go in the kitchen and serve at the to go window. Who would say no? Join in the fun and say, damn, this is fun.

This was the moment when the rise of the bullshit began to quicken and your state began to retch.

Well the crowd will be bigger than a telephone booth and smaller than a high school gym.

I’m imagining Bruce Springsteen singing this version, too.

Madison? I understand WI is a swing state, but do they really need to boost enthusiasm in Deep Blue Commie Country?

Obama is their messiah. He doesn't even have to show, and there will be fainting and swooning just thinking about it.

Hmmmm....now THAT is a conundrum.

I can count on my right hand how many conservatives live within 10 miles of this event. Why are they here?

Jersey Fled said...

I guess they couldn’t fill the buses with just Walz.

Big Mike said...

@Althouse, look for a convoy of out of state buses and follow it.
