Theo Von delivers an hour of casual conversation with Donald Trump.
This is what I'd hoped we were going to get from the Elon Musk conversation with Trump. Theo Von is much more adept at creating a conversational back and forth. Perhaps more importantly, the 2 men are in the same room. The cut begins with Trump buttering up Von: "But your thing is going really great. My son's a big fan of yours, Barron":

The rabid Left was furiously shitting all over this on X yesterday, mocking Trump, claiming this is the first evidence “he cared about anyone other than himself” and generally providing a Streisand Effect level of interest in the interview. It was funny in a way. Had they said nothing I might not have been aware or interested enough to listen to it.
If the Orange Man Bad caricature had even a germ of truth would such an authoritarian dictator subject himself to such a public conversation about his own personal fears and experience with addiction? Or is this the Evil Genius Trump, using new media to push his tentacles deep into the younger than Gen Z crowd?
Did you watch it Mike? Was it any good. Theo is pretty entertaining with his wild stories of incest and drug abuse while being a child evangelist.
I'm glad you found this. I listened to the clip yesterday of him talking about his brother and why he doesn't drink or smoke. He was just a normal guy talking. I said to my spouse after listening, "He's not a bad man."
I watched it, it was a very normal, non-campaign type of conversation. Showed a much more humble and human side of Trump.
Trump is in hospitality. You're the most important person in the world when he talks to you. It's polite society and it's a skill. Code switching into the appropriate circumstances.
He used it to reach comity with Kim Jong Un.
Why don’t you watch it yourself Howard.
The left/media/Democrats could make Mother Theresa the equivalent of Cruella de Vil. And would happily do it if it advanced big government.
Into it about 15 minutes. Donald Trump gives some great advice don't drink alcohol don't smoke cigarettes don't do drugs. I immediately flashed that one of the reasons why he looks so great even though his diet sucks while he does get regular modest exercise golfing number one and number two he doesn't drink alcohol. You can see it on people's faces it is the worst poison that people take chronically that just destroys their body and older age. It's obvious that Bill Clinton and Joe Biden like to drink. For The last 5 years I've got my drinking way back to you maybe the total of four to six drinks per year usually distributed over 2 to 3 occasions.
I advise everybody to take Donald's advice on this topic
I was hoping the Elon/Trump conversation would be more like this podcast. It was a much calmer, thoughtful Trump.

Don’t think i’ll be watching but i caught some clips of his interview with bernie earlier this week.
How does anybody have time for all this crap? The Trump/Musk interview lasted for two hours. Scott Adams’ post-mortem with somebody or other lasted another two hours. I’m retired with only a part time church musician job and grandkids to care for (and in old age daily exercise is imperative) and I don’t have time for all this. Who does? How can anybody stand it? And, I say this as a pretty enthusiastic Trump supporter.
What you do ST is take your iPhone with Spotify on it to your daily exercises and listen to podcasts like Rogan, VDH, Peterson. They have guests that are the show. It’s the guests that are the thing, like DJT being on Vonn. You really hear them far better than clips.
It has always been obvious that Trump is very skilled at reading and understanding the feelings of who he is talking to.
He has always clearly been a decent person.
I read transcripts or turn speed up as high as possible while going for a run if I watch it at all. I get about 10% of these at best.
By this point I have seen enough of both candidates to know who and what they are. We are way over saturated with this crap.
+1. As a society we need to stop reinforcing alcohol use.
I chose not to drink before I could really even do it after looking at all the alcoholism in the tree. I also looked at what people acted like when drunk. Got lucky.
Like most plant products alcohol is just poison. Your liver filters alcohol out as a pathogen. People need to learn how many things your liver does for your body to keep you in balance before they drink alcohol and tax it or damage it.
Listened, didn't watch. I like to listen while I work on projects.
Joe Biden also never drinks, for the same reasons.
Yeah, it really does matter that the men are in the same room. I think Musk would have been OK, not great but OK, had Trump been in the room during their conversation. I might actually watch if Trump goes on Rogan.
I don't watch either, Thomas- just not enough time. Transcripts only if I have expectation to learn something I didn't already know.
Consider going shopping with a teenager - seriously - and getting yourself rigged up with some ear buds and an 'app' or two. You can listen to the podcasts while exercising, and when you speed them up to 1.5x you quickly become accustomed to hearing everything with ease. It's pretty good mental exercise too, of a kind, and it helps work the old noggin' out a bit, keeping up with the accelerated pace of discussion.
Most don't. It is all about the clips that can be chopped up from the interview then used on Tiktok, youtube, big media.....
Theo does this for a living. Elon makes electric cars and rockets. He’s pretty amazing, but he can’t be amazing at everything.
Nice that he did this interview, I don't have time to listen. Did Trump discuss Republican Party efforts at winning the mail-in vote harvesting competition this election season? Because if he doesn't wi, that, he loses and Harris wins. Not a lot else matters this election cycle, just like in 2020. I'm sure he said lots of things, but nothing else matters as much as harvesting universal mail in ballots, to getting him elected.
Trump is talking about making hospitals reveal their prices to consumers. Kamala is talking about price caps at the grocery store.
As Bob Boyd said, I don't think Joe Biden drinks. At least that is what he says publicly and has for a bit. When Obama was President there was the "Beer Summit" where Obama and Biden sat down with Harvard Professor Henry Gates, and the police officer that arrested him. At the time Biden said something about how it may be a Beer Summit but he will have Root Beer because he doesn't drink.
They were a thousand miles apart, That was the problem.
This was good, no Adderal induced shouting, no teleprompter .The cognitive chasm between Trump and Biden, or even between Trump and the Cacklin Ho is there for all to see. He’s right about a “loser pays” costs rule: it’s what we have in England and 90% of cases never go to trial, because the one who is trying it on knows he is trying it on, and settles to escape escalating costs.
I'm not the target for this conversation. Barron Trump is targeting people missed by other targeting- and that's people who listen to this sort of thing. My opinion? Good move. Should pick up some new Trump supporter/voters from it. How many? I have no clue. But small shifts in voter preference or voters showing up could have significant impact on final vote tallies. I doubt any of the people normally listening to such podcasts are ever reached by pollsters...
I love Theo, I’m a regular listener as a 58 yo suburban mom. I enjoyed the interview, I thought it was funny that Trump didn’t seem to get any of Theo’s jokes and likely did this because Baron told him to.
Trump is my one exception to the golden rule: never trust a man who doesn't drink. People without vices have little virtue. I love alcoholic beverages. I'm drinking one right now (Lillet and tonic). If you don't drink, good for you. Now shut up.
"People without vices have little virtue. I love alcoholic beverages."
Yeah, so do many of us who abstain from booze. I was a daily drinker for 40 years. My life is so much better now that I am sober all the time. I'm also alive, and that is often a good thing. I still miss a nice glass of fine port or a bourbon. It's the second bottle and the early grave I can do without.
