These dummies aren't interested in talking about the merits of the book, acting, singing, or dancing. Or comparing say Astaire's style with Gene Kellys or why 7 Brides for 7 brothers was more popular than say: Band wagon with the 1953 public. Instead, they rattle on and on about Feminism and "toxic masculinity" or some other sin against the current party line. One women actually stated that as a Producer in the "the Industry" they're unsure whether "problematic" plays like "My fair lady" should be produced anymore!

Even more moronic was listening to several supposedly straight men talk about how "creepy" it was that Gene Kelly agressively gets Leading ladies phone number in American in Paris!

This confirms my theory that the convention is being used as an infomercial to the urban populations in swing states.

So many of the speakers, music acts, celebrities, etc., all week have been black. Way beyond 13%. And mostly not anodyne cuddly black: Oprah and Legend fit into that category, but the rest don’t.

Putting Sharpton and the CP5 up there won’t convince a single wobbly rural white. It probably turns off most of them, especially in the swing states where there is almost active hostility between the city and the hinterland.

So the Dems think salvation lies in urban turnout.

Either that, or they know they’ll be printing ballots anyway and so they just programmed the guests they like.

Or they could just be completely tone deaf (that was one of the rappers they couldnt book: Ton-Def!).

But definitely not an all-out grovel for Latino votes. I dont know if this reinforces my theory that the Dems are picking urban black turnout as a Schwerpunkt to concentrate all their efforts, either for real votes or for poll numbers to make their high-speed ballot printing plausible.

There also is the weirdness of Chicago, the host city, being one-third each white/black/brown, so that politics consists of intra-Dem jostling between blacks and Hispanics for the right to tell the whites who to vote for. Currently the blacks are on top, so there would be pressure from the Cook County machine to have more black people on stage.

Just a very strange convention.
