Oh, no.

That happened at the Democratic National Convention last night. Some kind of Minnesota = Prince = Tim Walz concept.

I was starting to think why not Bob Dylan, but the answer is clear: Dylan lives. Prince isn't around to object to this travesty.

After the stupid Prince thing the other night I was wondering if politicians could have free reign with music from dead people. I guess it's just leftie politicians...

I’ve been very good, I haven’t watched a minute of the DNC. I’ll just read the comments.

Democrats want to Lead the Glamorous Life. Obamas, Bidens, Clintons, Pritzkers, Pelosis.

Even the music at the DNC feels like pandering.

As the Obamas droned on about how important government is in our daily lives, I found myself wondering what percentage of DNC delegates are government employees?

Tim Walz grew up in NE and lived here after college when he began to teach high school. But we don't claim him.

Walz gave a great speech.

He's an authentic midwestern Dad who grew up in a small town, served in the national guard for 24 years, a teacher, coach, Congressman elected six times in a rural, red district, and successful two-term governor. He's the first VP candidate that isn't a lawyer in many decades and connects with voters that Democrats have lost in recent years. He's the opposite of the 'coastal elite' that Republicans like to rail against.

Republicans attacking his bio show they're scared he'll take some of the rural vote away from them, along with more votes from union members and veterans, especially in the Midwest. And that will sink their campaign in a hurry.

The Tim Walz — JD Vance contrast is just so devastating for Vance. Tim Walz is who JD Vance pretends to be.

The dancing white lady at 1:30-1:33 ate the purple banana, so they can stop looking for it. I think the lyrics are a really good fit for the Harris campaign:

We're all excited
But we don't know why
Maybe it's 'cause
We're all gonna die

Scott Johnson at Powerline long ago suggested "Let's Go Crazy" as the theme song for the Democrat takeover of Minnesota.

John Legend & Sheila E: They performed “Let’s Go Crazy” by Minnesota’s own Prince Rogers Nelson to introduce Tim Walz. Now here was truth in advertising. By my lights, “Let’s Go Crazy” is the fitting theme song for Walz’s work with Democratic majorities in the 2023-2024 session of the Minnesota legislature. They went crazy. They have more where that came from.

Achilles said...

I like how they pretend that the drums and the guitar were actually plugged in and producing the noise they were supposedly making.

Democrats are just completely dishonest and transparently fake about everything.

narciso said...

omg thats sad, and I kind of like john legend's music,

Well, Dylan is liberal, to a degree
But, if you think you can use his music for free,
You must be just as crazy as AOC.

Ok,Ok, I know...I'll leave it to the other guys..

gee. First they bump James Taylor with the 'White Lady Feelz' singing, then they make time for this. I don't think I could stomach either one.

The overlap between delegates, government workers, and folks living on government handouts and actual dem voters approaches 100%. That is why dem policies don't need to have any basis in reality. The real problem is that the country has allowed those categories to get so ridiculously high.

Well that doesn't make much sense at all. Even if Prince is dead, his copyrights are still very much alive and will be for the next 60-odd years or so.

What is a travesty is Trump dancing to "YMCA" (especially considering the Republicans current assault on LBTQ rights) or using Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On."

Well, well, well ... Donald Trump is certainly getting smarter: Reports out that he is REFUSING national security briefings by the CIA/FBI/NSA because he knows they're trying to set him up and accuse him of leaking classified information.

He's finally realizing one of the 1,000 ways Chuck Schumer told him they can "get you."

He wrote that song 40 years ago. I didn't really get that song when I first heard it. Both parties liked Israel back then. But 40 years later -- financed by oil money from the Middle East -- our universities are awash in brainwashed kids who hate. Bob is the man and the left can suck it.

My guess is that a good number of the delegates are only vaguely familiar with Dylan. And II suspect that he would denounce it. He never struck me as a a party guy (although I did see a picture of him reading Baseball news in the 70’s and he never struck me as a baseball guy either.

Too bad - it would be amusing to see someone singing “Positively Fourth Street” to that audience.

This convention seems like modern TV commercials. White people are just tokens, usually buffoons.

Lazarus said...

Vance had aspirations to be a more serious and significant figure. Sure, he has hardscrabble Middle American roots, but he doesn't wrap himself in them to the degree that Walz does. He doesn't expect that playing that role will be enough. Rightly or wrongly, for good or ill, he thinks he has more to contribute. Walz doesn't, and he doesn't even live up to the image he's created for himself.

Lazarus said...

They missed the opportunity to have Sheena Easton sing Alexander Nevermind's (that is, Prince's) "Sugar Walz."
