From WaPo: "Trump was looking cheerful and relaxed, sharing smiles and laughs with his lawyers, as they prepared to leave for the day. As soon as the judge announced that instead we had a verdict, his demeanor changes dramatically. He crossed his arms and knitted his brows. He continued to whisper with attorney Todd Blanche, but no longer cheerfully."

UPDATE 2 FROM NYT:
ADDED: An acquittal will do Biden a favor. This story will fade into obscurity.
UPDATE from NYT: "One juror appeared to glance at Trump. The others didn’t."
UPDATE 2 FROM NYT:
Trump is guilty on first eight counts
Counts 9 through 11 are guilty
UPDATE 3 FROM NYT:
Trump is unresponsive, sitting slack at the defense table.
ADDED: There goes my hope that this could fade into obscurity. I'm steeling myself for the onslaught of spinning. Too much anxiety and no hope of anything like a normal presidential election. Is this what we, the People, deserve?
AND: Trump speaks. NYT reports it like this:“This was a disgrace,” Trump says. “This was a rigged trial by a conflicted judge who was corrupt.”Trump is significantly less animated than he has been as he rattles off the familiar lines that have characterized his remarks in the hallway for much of the trial. He seems more sober.
He closes by saying, “We will fight for our Constitution. This is long from over.” Then, looking more somber than I have seen him at any point in the last several months, he walks away from the cameras and does not answer questions.
Video here.
AND: My transcription: "It's okay. I'm fighting for our country. I'm fighting for our Constitution.... This was done by the Biden administration, in order to wound or hurt a political opponent. And I think it's just a disgrace. And we'll keep fighting. We'll fight to the end. And we'll win. Because our country's gone to hell. We don't have the same country anymore. We have a divided mess. We're a nation in decline, serious decline. Millions and millions of people pouring into our country right now — from prisons and from mental institutions — terrorists — and they're taking over our country. We have a country that's in big trouble. But this was a rigged decision, right from day one, with a conflicted judge who should have never been allowed to try this case — never. And we will fight for our Constitution. This is far from over."
ALSO: Strange how he slotted in the immigration issue. It seemed as though he started in on his rally speech beginning with "our country's gone to hell" and then he could have gone through a list, but he only got to one item — I presume it's his #1 issue — illegal immigration

Stuff it, commie. That quote doesn't mean squat. It only reflects who is or in not *eligible* for jury duty, not how the jury selection process works. I deferred my jury service for over a year without doing more than simply calling the courthouse and saying I wanted to reschedule it. The judge has the final say on who can be excused from the jury panel, and he can excuse a prospective juror for any reason.

If they did this to Trump what do you think they'll do to us?
Or any potential Republican candidate deemed threatening.
They did this Rick Perry when he finished as Governor of Texas and put his hat in to run for the Republican nominee. Honestly, his conviction was even crazier than Trump. Perry was convicted of abuse of power when he used his constitutional power to veto a funding bill. He vetoed the funding of a DA literally drunk with power that demanded her arresting officers let her after arresting her for DWI.
Trump is just the most recent example. And like Perry, an appellant court will throw out the conviction, but nobody who pursued the prosecution and abused their power will face consequences.
Scott Adams says he's not standing for the fucking flag anymore or pledge of allegiance or that crap. The jury system was all we had going for us after everything else was corrupt.

This was one of the canary in the coal mine moments for me, this is from an article in Foreign Policy, a neocon publication. Remember that Joe Biden is a neocon wet dream:
Democracy works by compromise, but climate change is precisely the type of problem that seems not to allow for it. As the clock on those climate timelines continues to tick, this structural mismatch is becoming increasingly exposed. And as a result, those concerned by climate change—some already with political power, others grasping for it—are now searching for, and finding, new ways of closing the gap between politics and science, by any means necessary.

I was just listening on the radio to Jon Ossoff, liberal Democrat Georgia Senator, elected when Steve Bannon and Jenny Beth Martin got naive conservatives to not vote in the Senate race.
I didn't listen to his words. I listened to his voice, and I heard ... fear. I think that's the feeling that a lot of Trump-haters are feeling right now, not because they fear violence from Trump supporters, but because it's rapidly sinking in that they went too far.
I'm so old, I remember when dems did this only to blacks.

Might be awkward having the Secret Service share a cell. Somewhere in this slew of idiocy, hysteria and corruption, there's a Democrat functionary who understands there might be limits.
I think one can trace the onset of this industrial strength corruption shit to the Clintons and Holder.
Arkansas mafia moved the pieces into place.
The case was brought by a bigoted DA before a bigoted judge and a bigoted jury and reported on by a bigoted press. This is sure to prompt an angry response. And probably a lot angrier than the Democrats are expecting. What were they thinking? This is stupid beyond the ordinary dimensions of stupid.
Trump was convicted by a jury of his peers on all 34 felony counts. His defense attorneys objected to only one potential jurors during jury selection. That this is somehow a rigged verdict or trial by the Biden administration, as Trump and his toadies argue, is beyond ridiculous and entirely without evidence.
The case was brought by a New York district attorney without help or direction from the Biden administration, and the verdict rendered by 12 jurors. There is absolutely no evidence of jury tampering by the Biden administration.
So, as a duly convicted felon, in addition to having been convicted in civil court and ordered to pay $83 million in damages for sexual assault, and with multiple much more serious felony cases awaiting him, Trump may find his campaign increasingly challenged.
Trump, as a convicted felon, will likely find it more difficult to raise money, to get endorsements, and win over undecided and independent voters. He'll also likely lose some Republican voters as well- although not as many as would be the norm 20 years ago, when his political career would've ended in disgrace before it ever began.
It may only impact a small percentage of voters — probably not more than 5% or so, but that may well be the difference between winning and losing the election. There is no indication that becoming a convicted felon will help his election chances.
If I was a DeSantis supporter who still hoped that my guy was going to win a Republican primary some day, well, as the French say, this is a good opportunity to shut up.

As far as I am concerned, those jurors can burn in Hell. Along with the judge and all those associated with the prosecution.
And, asshat "New Yorker", this Brooklyn-born patriot is now willing to take out the POS people who did this traitorous act. Including those who rejoice in this sham trial and verdict, for they shall suffer the most.

Actually, it's up to the judge. I've seen some judges let people off for frivolous reasons and I've seen some judges be very strict and not let anyone off at all. What I find so interesting, and potentially momentous, about this is that a couple of clownish judges and juries in NYC have just converted half the White people in America to a, more or less, Black mindset regarding the integrity and fairness of the legal system. Fascinating to watch how that plays out.
That fact hasn't been lost on me. I noticed it for some time now. I will note that it was Senator Biden that threw his support behind the Crime Act that made minor possession of drugs a federal crime. It was President Trump that signed the First Step Act that ended many of the Crime Act laws. Biden's son will soon face a trial that in the past would almost certainly end in conviction for a black person, but he's already been offered a sweetheart deal once by this DOJ.

Now, those same assholes turned on him and his money couldn't get him out it. And guess what?! They didn't respect his Constitutional rights either? How unfair.
This is a shitty day for America but it is an AMAZING day for poetic justice. Trump is now tasting what he put people through his whole life. Poetic justice doesn't get much poeticer.

That is actually an interesting idea and I am ashamed I had not thought of that. There is precedent. When George Wallace was term limited out, his wife Lurleen ran on the platform that she would be his puppet.
An additional benefit is that Don Jr could serve 8 years as senior's puppet.
They could put an extra desk in the Oval and let Donald have the Resolute desk and the other Donald have the other desk. Maybe even a "Partner Desk" https://tinyurl.com/48buxvma (A two sided desk with a partner on each side)
Another precedent is India after independence. Nehru realized he was over his head, asked Mountbatten to come back as Viceroy. He could not do that after independence but sat next to Nehru in cabinet meetings whispering in his ear (literally) what to do.

This was inevitable. Even the founders saw it coming. It took a little longer than they thought actually.
The fate of any democracy/republic even one with as many safe guards as we had in our constitution will inevitably fall to a bureaucracy that turns into an Aristocracy. Now it is time for them to be put back in their place.
As soon as Senators were elected by popular vote rather than state legislature and the 19th amendment the path was set.
The Regime has now broken the social contract.
Everyone senses that things are broken and you are going to see everything go to 11 now.
Trump supporters are not going to back down in public. The Regime is going to have to defend this sham and any Regime supporters are going to get immediate blow back. We are openly discussing what to do when the thin veneer of civilization vanishes. We have plans in place with other families.
Meanwhile the left is mobilizing their campus campers and BLM looters. They will burn their own stuff for a while but they wont be allowed out of the deepest regime centers again.

@Rich (8:27), tell me, genius, where in the Constitution does it sayy by that the President cannot be a convicted felon? Shocking as it may seem, he does not have to be sworn into office at the U.S. Capitol Building, nor does he even have to swear his oath of office on a Bible.
As to specific points in your piece of crap comment:
The case was brought by a New York district attorney without help or direction from the Biden administration
That’s a lie and you’re a liar. Did you fail to note that the DOJ donated a member of its leadership team to serve as a member of the prosecution?
There is absolutely no evidence of jury tampering by the Biden administration.
Did you look? Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Maybe if we waterboarded a few of them we would find out what threats and/or inducements they received.
Trump, as a convicted felon, will likely find it more difficult to raise money, to get endorsements, and win over undecided and independent voters.
Anecdotal evidence has already said that you’re wrong about raising money, and having locked up the GOP nomination he doesn’t need any more endorsements. Other anecdotal evidence says you’re wrong about winning over undecideds, but we shall see.

You guys talking about "lock her up" do realize there is no statute of limitations for that crime and there is no double jeopardy because she was never tried.
