“At least 53 Michigan counties have more active registered voters than they have adult citizens who are over the age of 18. That number of voters is impossibly high,” the lawsuit said. “An additional 23 counties have active-voter registration rates that exceed 90 percent of adult citizens over the age of 18. That figure far eclipses the national and statewide voter registration rate in recent elections.”

PA Governor Josh Shapiro wants to tax electricity producers who use natural gas. Remember when the grid companies were encouraged (forced??) to switch from coal to natural gas? Pennsylvania is number 2 in natural gas production in the nation and gas producers are not pleased (nor will consumers be once they see their bill).

Janet Yellen doesn't have a clue at what drives inflation:
Yellen responded, “Well, look, inflation is down almost two-thirds from the high it reached in 2022, and the trend is clearly a favorable one. I wouldn’t look at — expect this to be a smooth path month to month, but the trend is clearly favorable. That said, President Biden’s top priority is addressing the issue of high costs that concern so many Americans. They’re worried about their ability to make ends meet, and he’s doing all that he can, bringing down prescription drug prices, bringing down the cost of health care, and, of course, the investments that we’re making to promote renewables in the United States will make energy more secure and lower the cost of energy to households. In the State of the Union, the President also proposed ways to increase the supply of affordable housing and make housing more affordable for new homebuyers.”
Inflation is caused by government policies. Excessive monetary growth, excessive deficits and excessive restrictions on supply. The FED has tamed the monetary growth, but Joe "Bribe me!" Biden's war on Americans continues. This years deficit is projected at $3+T, the regulators are choking off business with insane efficiency standards and restrictions on independent contractors.
Balance the budget and fire all the regulators. Then we'll have inflation under control.

This is a way to force users into green energy use, which we've seen is the MO since the first month we moved here three years ago. We had a representative from one of the green energy pushers come to our door and try to convince us on the spot, with Hugh pressure sales tactics, to switch to their service. I wasn't having it, and complained to the property manager that their rule against door-to-door soliciting was ignored. She said they had no choice as it was promoted by the Commonwealth. Every few months we get an energy report in the mail telling us we use more energy than our neighbors (though marginally so). Energy shaming.
Renewable energy prices are actually higher than coal/NG/hydro, so the only way to reduce costs is to cut back on energy use. But it looks more and more like that's been the plan all along.
Report from the Northern Barren Ground. I was able to pick a bouquet of snowdrops, aconites, squills and crocuses. These look very nice floating in a cut glass bowl. The red squirrels and chipmunks are engaging in lively skirmishes over who gets to pick over the ground below the bird feeder. Songbirds and woodpeckers are back. The woodpeckers are just convinced that they can peck through the plastic sides of the birdfeeders. It seems the woodpeckers can learn how to balance sideways to get the seeds which come out in tiny trays at the bottom of the feeders; they cannot learn that that is the only feeding trick that will ever work on a bird feeder. Woodpeckers are relatively big birds and I guess they find that sideways twist hard and keep hoping they can break through to the Big Seed Pile they can see - right there, right there, rat-a-tat-tat. Higher up still, there is no visible bud growth on the trees but the maple syrup season is already over. Flowering-bud preparations are going on inside those silent lines of cold, gray tree trunks. I'm reading about plant anatomy and cameras again.

I listened to "After the Gold Rush" album coming down from an LSD experience (1971). I was hooked ever since. (On Neil, not LSD).
Young would be a great musician even if all he released was the “Rust Never Sleeps” album. That is a masterpiece, IMHO.
