Let's not forget Sia's 2014 hit "Chandelier" (which is both a "party" song and a song about addiction, best known for the nutso video featuring then 11-year-old Maddie Ziegler dancing around an abandoned apartment building), and the immortal lyrics: "one-two-three, one-two-three, drink."
I too didn't appreciate this record until I was older and hadn't heard it in years. It sounds a lot better now - even unusually so - however you hear it than it did from an AM transistor radio 58 years ago.
"Funny to see the dancers gyrating so fast when the beat doesn't really call for that."
Yeah, they seem coerced. It's not pleasant. No way could their movements be inspired by the music.
As for Len Barry, how could he be styled like that in 1965, one year into Beatlemania? The answer is that this is "blue-eyed soul" and he's styled like a black soul singer.

When a chat bot comes up with something as freakish as that, I'm going to start to worry.
I was in high school when this song arrived, giving it no attention. Little did I realize then how stupid it was.
like taking candy from a baby, yeah!
311223 in my world, but, hey, whatever stirs your coffee.
I miss Go Go girls dancing in cages. Thanks.
It's easy (it's so easy)
Like takin' candy (like takin' candy) from a baby
"The day 123123 is here at last."
And, regrettably, in some places it's easier to take life from a baby than take candy from one.
Dumbest thing ever.
Not even as good as typing 5318008 into your LED calculator and turning it upside down : )
Groovy.
Funny to see the dancers gyrating so fast when the beat doesn't really call for that.
I like the "bristol stomp":

Not for most people living on this planet.
I never knew Len Barry was the lead singer for the Dovells.
Thank you, rcocean.

And it's true, those gogo dancers looked strange, very strange indeed.
They look so wholesome now, but you know they're all on speed to move like that. When the shoot was over, the shooting began.
Happy New Year...

Chambers Brothers... remember when?
I never knew the singer of the song was white. It has all the hallmarks of a Motown song.
Boris: Easy, like taking brandy from baby.
Natasha: You mean "candy," dahlink.
Boris: You take what you want, I take what I want!
'I never knew the singer of the song was white. It has all the hallmarks of a Motown song.'
Bobby Caldwell and early Hall and Oates have entered the conversation : )
Great find.
