"She didn’t really like doing certain things.... She appeared to find it cringey the way Jill Biden always seemed to be hanging around Joe..."

"... once telling [Stephanie Grisham, her former chief of staff] that she didn’t need to 'hold her husband up' the same way. Being silent was 'Melania’s armor,' [her friend Stephanie] Winston Wolkoff said. 'It was a way to protect her by not letting anyone fully know who she is,' she said, adding that she and Melania had an 'ongoing pre-approved list' of words to describe her, such as 'confident' 'strong' and 'independent.' 'We discussed how her intentional lack of communication with the media would keep everyone guessing and ultimately maintain the narrative of being mysterious and an enigma,' she said. ... In a recent interview with Megyn Kelly, Trump stuck to the script when asked about Melania’s whereabouts, saying: 'I think part of the beauty is that mystery.'... Trump listens when Melania offers suggestions.... She has, for example, suggested he stop making fun of transgender athletes and refrain from his goofy arm-based dancing he often features onstage. He hasn’t stopped either. 'She said, "Darling, I love you, I love you, but this is not presidential,"' Trump told a crowd recently in Sioux City, Iowa, before later announcing: 'The country’s going to hell in a handbasket. Let’s do a little dancing."'"

Why does a first lady have a chief of staff? The first lady is not a government position, she had no public duties. How much public money is spent on her staff?

When did People or Us do a cover puff piece on her? When did Vogue do a complimentary piece on her fashion choices? When did Glamour do a piece on her beauty tips?

Her first interview was a sabotage job back in 2015 because of one choice she made: her husband. She was an appendage to the press, not a person. Why would she make herself available to them? Her close friend, the chief of her staff, sold her out.

Heh. Trump is funny.

After having actively shunned her in every way imaginable while Trump was in office, and made it clear that any piece would be an attack piece. Yeah - go figure.

I can envision Trump avoiding a pile of dogshi*t on the sidewalk, and then seeing the writeup that he's walking 'erratically, almost off balance'. Relentless hostility with fear at its base.

To forgive in this, is to accept losing forever.

I really don't care, do u? Apparently Winston does.

I've always found Melaina's aloofness to be sexy. Adds a touch of mystery. Confident men welcome the challenge of trying to get into such women's walls. Trump is nothing if not confident.

It feels like she's hiding because she's a private person. And she knows the media has not given her an ounce of respect- berating her taste, her topics, and her looks- even while knowing she's an actual former global model. On the other hand, Michelle Obama is swooned over, and treated like she's the model- even though her walk more resembles that of a linebacker than a model.

Melania's private- the opposite of Donald. She doesn't care much for the media who have treated her like a pinata. No mystery. She's too polite to say 'fuck off', so she says nothing and ignores them.

Melania Trump is one the most beautiful women to ever occupy the white house in my opinion. Right up there with Jackie O. When she was younger, she was a stone cold fox, if you've ever seen some of her photo shoots. A lot of people - a lot of women - were soured on her because of her looks and some of the risqué work she also did when she was younger but that never bothered me because A) I don't consider myself a prude and B) she's European and their standards for decorum are different. Some might even say lower, but I don't think that, they're just a but more comfortable with sex and sexuality than most Americans generally.

There are times, more times than not lately, that the clueless and feckless Biden makes Trump look like Churchill.

On the list of unpresidential acts performed by Trump dancing like he is giving two giraffes hand jobs doesn’t even make the top 10.

My sense is that the reason Melania (and Ivanka) have stepped back is Trump’s quest to slave his wounded ego is making their lives miserable.

She should consider wearing ghastly print dresses like Dr. Jill so she’s easier to spot in the crowd.

The media, including WaPo, doesn't cover her at all. That's her hiding.

"...her intentional lack of communication with the media..."

Two-faced, lying assholes.

There’s a definite air of insincerity in WaPo “searching for Melanie” now, three years after leaving DC, where I believe the Post is based, and after spending Trump’s entire presidency studiously ignoring the fact she even existed. What the fuck?

On topic, Melania is a seriously gorgeous woman, and smart too. I suspect she would best DOCTOR Jill in an IQ contest...

I like a modest classy First Lady who does her own thing and operates behind closed doors. We don't vote for the 1st Lady and we don't need "Two for the price of one".

BTW, Jill Biden seems smart enough to keep a low profile. She has to prop Biden up in public, because otherwise he would fall down. But we haven't heard the rumors that "Jill Biden is the real President" - which is suprising.

rcocean said...

i don't think there's been a single truly positive article on Melanie in the MSM. Everyone is explicit or snide hit piece. Again, the MSM hates Trump and everyone who supports him. And they aren't going to change.

Gee, its a real mystery why these wanna-be DeSantis "online influencers" can't drag their lad across the finish line.

Well, there's always the GOPe/dem Lawfare alliance possibility that keeps hope alive for the Ryan/Rove/Bush crew.

Sociopolitical editorials that isolate individuals, groups are diversitist... divisive... sexist... genderist, perhaps, and should be banned... cancelled, too. Right, WaPo?

Trump did not make fun of transgender athletes. Rather, he mocked the decision of competition authorities to allow biological men to compete against women under the guise of transgender equality.

A couple of months ago I kept seeing these constant, "Where's Meliana? Newspaper articles.

Then she started appearing with Trump and we got a pause.

Now we're back to the, "Where's Melania? Newspaper articles again.

These articles are obvious, political hit pieces to give the impression that Trump's wife doesn't support him.

Melania isn't running; Trump is.

"BTW, Jill Biden seems smart enough to keep a low profile. She has to prop Biden up in public, because otherwise....".

Early on, I came across a picture of DOCTOR Jill sitting at the President's desk on Air Force One, looking at a sheaf of papers. I think that might have been a slip-up, because I haven't seen anything like that again. But behind the scenes, the word is that she is very involved with running interference, sometimes to the irritation of staffers.

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

Of course Trump does not have to rely on Melania to steer him on and off stages, in and out of rooms, up and down stairs and try desperately to keep him facing the audience and staying awake. And on topic. Melania also doesn’t have to pull Trump away from little girls mid-sniff or remind him that the Halloween candy goes into the bag or pumpkin. Nor does a random staffer dressed as the Easter Bunny have to run interference lest Trump mangle a shouted question from the crowd or press. This just a few of the things Melania need not worry about.

The Donald could take some cues from his wife on how to handle the press. They're looking to character-assasinate him. They stick a microphone in his face and he just gives them more ammunition.
