For those folks nationally who are curious about the approximate date and time of Robert Card's suicide, there is a high probability that that information will remain unknown.

Annual autopsy rates in the state of Maine consistently hovered at well under 20 percent of death investigations for the past five years. In 2022, the office performed 403 autopsies on the 2,526 deaths it took jurisdiction on - a 15 percent autopsy rate which is by far the lowest autopsy rate in the country.

“If a person commits suicide with a gunshot wound to the head, most jurisdictions will automatically do an autopsy. In Maine, if the circumstances are not at all questionable, we don’t always autopsy those cases,” Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Mark Flomenbaum said.

Flomenbaum was fired as chief medical examiner in Massachusetts in 2007 after a consultant’s report revealed rampant mismanagement and the misplacement of the body of a Cape Cod man. In 2016, Flomenbaum served as a defense expert in a child manslaughter case in Connecticut. The judge in that case found Flomenbaum’s testimony not credible.

The Maine OCME facility, built about 30 years ago in Augusta, has two autopsy tables and shelving units to store 15 bodies. The facility also lacks proper ventilation and is unable to keep up with current health codes. It also lacks the capacity for multiple autopsies to be conducted simultaneously.

They're bombing in places they told people to run to for safety.

I buy the big bars for Halloween and have between 50-100 kids a year. THIS year, so far, 3 different kids, not together asked if they could take 2. I would have NEVER had the nerve to ask that. Little begging varmints!!/S (that's what we call our cats when it is dinner time...they start bugging an hour ahead of time!!)

First blush I thought the picture was taken from a paddle boat. I’ve must’ve interpreted the snow as light in perspective and the ground as shadow somehow. The miniaturization of the phone screen also played a hand, maybe.

Nice picture.

Crack, you need to research your misdirected criticism.

First of all, if you believe Hamas, the terrorist organization that deliberately beheads Israeli babies, I am sorry for you. Hamas runs Palestine and uses civilians as shields.

Second, here are the instructions IDF gave to Palestinians:

Thousands of leaflets were dropped into Gaza, calling on residents to flee south of the enclave within 24 hours, before an expected ground invasion. "Don't return to your homes until further notice from the Israel Defense Forces. Leave all public and known shelters in the city of Gaza. Do not approach from the security wall, and whoever does so, is risking their lives".

The Israeli military said it would operate "significantly" in Gaza City in the coming days and that civilians should return only when advised to do so.

That's what it looks like down here 135 miles from you. Except it looks like your trees still have more leaves.
Wendy.
This was a good year for us. Hardly any candy left. Usually we wind up giving it away the next day.
My script goes, " Say the words. Say the words or you don't get treats." Nine times out of ten I only need to use the first scentence and this year nearly every one said ,"Thank you."
It's a day for kids to rapacious vultures. I indulge them.

We went dark for the T&T hours--it's a pain, and there are plenty of people in the 'hood whose enthusiasm exceeds our disinterest, so the little buggers will be sick later even without our offerings.

Hard to believe Eightmonth is over and Ninemonth upon us.

Muslim leaders have been telling bald-faced lies, and American journalists have been credulously passing them on for decades. Case in point: Reagan's bombing of Libya 37 1/2 years ago. Here's what I recall:

1. Ghadaffi claimed that all of the dead were civilians, and the press didn't notice that damned near all of them were males between 18 and 30 and that the bombing had destroyed a bunch of planes at the military airport. It was obvious that these young men were Libyan Air Force, not civilians, and had died at the aiprot, but the press either didn't know that or didn't want to admit they knew it.

2. Ghadaffi claimed that his young daughter had been killed by US bombs, the press reported it as fact, and stupid politicians lapped it up. He'd been bragging for years that all his children were sons, so his 'daughter' was obviously not his daughter at all, except by posthumous pseudo-adoption. In any case, the US didn't kill her. See next point.

3. American surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) are designed to blow up in the air if they miss their targets, as most SAMs do, to reduce collateral damage, though falling pieces can still do damage. Soviet SAMs were not: falling SAMs land and explode in random places and are therefore very unlikely to hit their own side's military stuff, plus collateral damage - dead civilians - is a propaganda plus for heartless swine. The same goes for antiaircraft bullets. The girl was almost certainly hit by Libyan antiaircraft fire (random) rather than American bombs (aimed at specific military targets).

4. Did Libya use Soviet-made SAMs? Yes, and the proof is the most amusing evidence of all of Libyan lying and American press credulity. The US said they lost one plane to antiaircraft fire and it landed in the water. The Libyans said "No, we shot down an American plane over land and here's the wreckage!". The press reported that as apparently true, with a picture. The "American bomber" was about 2 feet in diameter, had no cockpit, and was red, with 'CCCP' painted on the side in yellow. In other words, it was a SAM that fell to earth and did not explode, and our press reported it as an American jet, like the lying morons they already were and still are.

"Hamas runs Palestine and uses civilians as shields."

As you keep repeating that, you give Israel license to kill anybody they want, for any reason. Who forced the election that resulted in Hamas leadership? THE United States and Israel. Who has created the conditions that have resulted in no further elections being possible? The United States and Israel. So that results in you claiming "Hamas runs Palestine." Meanwhile, the Palestinian people are just trying to stay alive, while all of you lie about them.

Who's issuing "misdirected criticism" again?

I watched the Zionism video Crack posted.

So, the dude was talking about the apocalyptic goal of the very-minority religious Zionists, akin to snake-handling Christians: basically seeing themselves as the hand of God in the world, rebuilding the Temple and somehow conjuring up a Messiah.

He does acknowledge a distinction between this group and nationalist Zionists, the Israeli Jews who remember the history of Jews in the modern era - say, 1500s on - who were hounded and persecuted and driven underground and driven out and blood-libeled by every nation they lived in, and in some were killed in terrible numbers. These modern Zionists believe that a nation-state is their best defense against a world that wants them to die, and that the best place for that nation-state is the only one the world would let them have, which has the additional advantage of being a place where Judaism has a millennia-long history and that a lot of Jews had already started returning to by buying land.

But the interviewee's solution to the problem of "Judaism has a religious minority that wants to drive the 20% of the Israeli population who are non-Jews out of Israel in order to immanentize the eschaton" is "therefore Israel should cease to exist."

I am unconvinced.
