"I was such a good little kid and I had so much love and I trusted everyone I met.... [My parents] are trying to learn how to be parents to a daughter while also watching their child get reamed.... As a parent, you’re trying to protect your child, and if transness is the thing that is being used against me, they have a hard time sometimes seeing that it’s actually a beautiful thing.... I think hopefully years from now we’ll look back on this time period and be like, What the fuck was that?... I don’t want to be the one that’s scared, the one who’s controversial — that word, controversial, drives me fucking insane. What really makes me controversial? That I’m trans? That I’m hyperfeminine? That I make jokes? That I overshare? Because I actually like being myself or that, God forbid, I’m happy? Maybe that’s what makes me controversial. I don’t think I’ve actually fucked up majorly. Should be he.
Ok, two things.
1. A good illustration of the "I'm not crazy, the world is crazy" thing of a day or two ago. I'm sure I won't be the first to observe that.
2. Why is being trans "beautiful"? Douglas Murray gets very impatient with this thing about how heterosexual people are just so sadly dull and every other form of whom-you-want-to-have-sex-with is rainbow-horned-unicorn pixie-dust special.
Apparently there is actually a cis-hetero stripe for the Pride flag - it's gray. [eye roll]
Why, oh why, does your sexual preference render you either beautiful or boring? And transness is apparently like those dumb teen movies in which the frumpy girl turns gorgeous by taking her hair out of the ponytail and taking off her glasses. Ta-da!
"[My parents] are trying to learn how to be parents to a daughter while also watching their child get reamed...."
Some comments positively scream out for the insight and wit of Laslo Spatula.
"that word, controversial, drives me fucking insane"
Me too, considering that it's generally used as a prog tool to affirm the prog default and deplore deplorable positions.
Somehow, Mulvaney doesn't sound happy.
Now he's "hyperfeminine" when, before, he was a girl
Dylan Mulvaney is the happy face of trans and I far prefer her (yeah, yeah, so what? I'm following the "don't be a dick" rule) to the screaming harpies of trans activism. The bullies who try to ruin anyone who gets in their way.
That said, "I don’t want to be...the one who’s controversial" is horseshit. She puts herself out there as a face of trans, publicly celebrates trans, makes her money off being a trans influencer, but she doesn't want to be controversial!?
He’s a man.
Right-wing as in independent. Conservative as in Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. Gender as in sex-correlated attributes (e.g. sexual orientation). Trans- as in a state or process of divergence from normal. Is he trans/gender or trans/social?
I'm sorry I haven't put Dylan Mulvaney's 'happiness' above that of all the people he's angered.
I don't know what I was thinking.
1. Let’s start with agreement: yes the world is fucked up.
2. Even if I accept him as female it is not girlhood. So any article with such a ridiculous headline has lost credibility already.
3. As far as I can tell 95% or more of “the criticism” is rightfully directed at Bud for misreading the market and hiring the absolute worst people to steer the biggest brand in the category. It’s an ongoing disaster of marketing.
4. What Dylan undoubtedly has endured is mockery because when a grown man prances around like a little girl dressed as Holly Golightly the jokes write themselves and ordinary Americans, working their asses off to survive without the time and money to spend a year “finding their inner girl,” will always point and laugh at such a spectacle.
It strikes me that Dylan doesn’t understand America any more than that Heinershneid lady who chose this uninfluential “influencer” as the new face of Bud Light. Finally, he still thinks it’s all about “her” and I’d like to hear someone at least acknowledge the several hundred workers and contractors who have lost their jobs downstream of the Bud fiasco. Dylan is being rewarded by the monoculture. Hundreds of families were negatively affected in the midst of a recession. So maybe Dylan’s growth as a human being would be helped if he exposed himself to other points of view instead of complaining without evidence that we have no idea what he is going through. We all have family and friends and you would be surprised what we’ve come to understand about “trans” or whatever shorthand you choose to label your current situation.
Butt-Head: Whoa, look at his face.
Beavis: Yeah. His face sucks.
I don’t think I’ve actually fucked up majorly.
The evidence to this point says you’re wrong.
I think that the world is fucked up.
And you’re one of the fuckers who fucked it up.
I, like, so don't care.
Nobody cares. Shut up and Go Away, I'm busy with anything else.
Yecch
Can someone translate 'I dont care' into what ever this particular fetish cult speaks.
He ought to get to liking himself, before worrying about what he thinks, others think.
Shouldn't be famous is the problem...
No, it is you Dylan. You're crazy. Men can't become women.
Personally, seeing a grown man transition into a girl is pretty disturbing
Little sicko's parents watch him being reamed? Yewww.
Dylan Mulvaney entertains using womanface. The shtick is offensive. Also, who is the supposed to be attracted to the clothing being modeled in that article? Women? Gay men? Heterosexual men? Trans women? Trans men?
Butt-Head: You just weren't reaching us, dude.
Beavis: Yeah, and if you try reaching for us, I'll kick you in the nads!
Narrator: Yeah, he "f'k-up" although it may be some time before he realizes the extent of how royally he has done so.
that word, controversial, drives me fucking insane. What really makes me controversial?
YOU'RE not controversial. It's not about you, though I understand why you and the Left that empowered you want to portray it that way.
It's about yet another multi-billion-dollar corporation weighing in on an issue while THE PEOPLE are still trying to sort it out.
It's about the people not having 5 g-d damn minutes to work though concepts that overturn a millennia of human understanding. It's not about you. You're just the latest prop. You're future is rosy. (I think you know that time is on your side.)
I think hopefully years from now we’ll look back on this time period and be like, What the fuck was that?
Yes, hopefully. Just not in the way he thinks.
I understand this completely. Craving attention is a powerful drug.
What the hell is "hyperfeminine" ?
Hmm. Doesn't sound positive according to Planned Parenthood:
"Hyperfemininity is the exaggeration of stereotyped behavior that's believed to be feminine. Hyperfeminine folks exaggerate the qualities they believe to be feminine. This may include being passive, naive, sexually inexperienced, soft, flirtatious, graceful, nurturing, and accepting. . . .
These exaggerated gender stereotypes can make relationships between people difficult. Hyperfeminine folks are more likely to endure physical and emotional abuse from their partners. Hypermasculine folks are more likely to be physically and emotionally abusive to their partners."
https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/gender-identity/sex-gender-identity/what-are-gender-roles-and-stereotypes#:~:text=Hyperfemininity%20is%20the%20exaggeration%20of,graceful%2C%20nurturing%2C%20and%20accepting.
Best way to extinguish a noxious dumpster fire is to take a long stick, carefully close the lid and starve it of oxygen.
Probably this individual will come up with some other "schtick" in a year or two. Won't pay attention to that either.
T
He's not even trans, just a female impersonator (see Finocchio's in 60's SF) grifting off the cultural insanity sweeping the nation.
1. A good illustration of the "I'm not crazy, the world is crazy" thing of a day or two ago. I'm sure I won't be the first to observe that.
Strangely enough, Jamie, you're wrong (but only because you responded more quickly than the rest of us).
The problem for Dylan -- and a lot of other people who indulge the trans fantasies -- is that his view of his girlhood is based on his view, as a biological male, of what it's like to be a girl. Dylan is not a biological female, therefore "she" is merely an individual emulating a female from an outsider's perspective. What was it like the day Dylan had "her" first period? Has "she" ever suffered cramps in the middle of a high school exam? What was it like when "her" breasts started forming? Dylan has no answer to these questions. So saying that "she" is a real girl is a fantastic as the Velveteen Rabbit imaging life as a real rabbit.
What really makes me controversial? That I’m trans? That I’m hyperfeminine? That I make jokes? That I overshare? Because I actually like being myself or that, God forbid, I’m happy? Maybe that’s what makes me controversial.
Whew! Great troll there Dylan! Fact is; you haven't been that controversial since the Bud Light fiasco died down. You're still out there, though. Can't go look at the Daily Mail or NY Post anymore without your picture popping up at least once. But, I guess you're not going to be happy until they become the Daily Dylan Mulvaney and the Dylan Mulvaney Post.
“Uncle Ben” and “Aunt Jemima” were controversial. The controversy that involves Delaney is about a brand deciding to dump their consumers. Typically marketing campaigns aren’t about destroying the market demand. That is the controversy.
A lot of good comments above. Some not so.
I've believed from the outset of The Heinerscheid Fiasco that this had little or nothing to do with Dylan Mulvaney. Does any Bud Light drinker care about Dylan? In fact, it had little to do with Bud Light.
Heinerscheid, especially in her interview lauding herself and disparaging previous Bud Light ads appealing to "fraaaaaty" consumers, unwittingly presented the American Public with an opportunity to finally rise up against Woke Corporate America and shout "Enough with shoving your Leftist shit in our face!". AB InBev just got unlucky that the Mulavaney thing and Heinerscheid interview went viral on them. Too bad.
Too bad, indeed. Somebody had to take the hit. There's a lot of companies I refuse to patronize. Who? Just watch TV commercials. It's damn near all of them.
No, he can't win over everyone. Not even most people.
How disgustingly patriarchal and misogynistic he is to think that he can come in and just shove women aside claiming to be one.
I don't much like or drink beer. I see it all as arrogance. With no dog in this, I say, "Let them fight."
It was the product manager who dissed Bud Light's customers who tanked the brand.
"I would talk to you differently knowing no right-wing conservatives could run with what I say."
Welcome to adulthood. I routinely hide my views (political, social, moral, etc.) based on who I am speaking with and how well I know their belief systems. Self-censorship is not unique to Mulvaney.
". I think hopefully years from now we’ll look back on this time period and be like, What the fuck was that?.."
That's what everyone is saying of the transurrection NOW, you corrupt, dipshit grifter.
He’s a man.
He may be a male, but he is definitely not a man.
This guy is a brilliant performance artist, so give him his due.
And like the porno politician, he put himself out there to the public for the express purpose of making money.
Consequences that follow must be dealt with while he counts his money...
Dylan needs to accept that not everyone celebrates him and being trans. As a leftist I am in favor of him being who he chooses to be. He can live his life happily without complaining that he isn’t accepted by everyone. By the time most people are his age they come to a realization that they are no longer precious children and everything they do is adorable. I say to Dylan, grow up, buck up, go live your life and stop complaining. Learn to cope. Life isn’t a bowl of cherries for anyone. Don’t expect applause from everyone, learn to not desire universal acceptance.
Hundreds of people lost their jobs, but it's his 'happiness' that comes first.
" I think hopefully years from now we’ll look back on this time period and be like, What the fuck was that?"
I think we are all in agreement with Ms. Mulvaney on this point. I only hope it doesn't take too many years for this day to arrive.
" A good illustration of the "I'm not crazy, the world is crazy" thing of a day or two ago. I'm sure I won't be the first to observe that."
Thanks for remembering that. I thought about it when I was writing the post.
Another, "My privacy is being invaded and violated" by all these people making fun of my internet videos.
You don't want to get reamed? Fine, stop showing your ass everywhere.
A man, even one with feminine features, can never really be hyper-feminine because he ain't female, which is a prerequisite for true femininity. For you Dylan it is all just play-acting.
And let me echo the germane cry of the day: WHERE ARE YOU LASLO? YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU!
“Strangely enough, Jamie, you're wrong (but only because you responded more quickly than the rest of us).“
I’d agree w/Jamie. Maybe b/c we are women &our perspective is different. Self-mutilation in order to get results that boost a “man-made”, created image- just how far do these self-image addicts go- how much bone shaved and whittled, implants added and penises/breasts removed does it take for happiness?
And who’s paying for the madness?
It’s the mind that needs tweaking, here. Not the body.
… I could be wrong.
Pretty sure I’m not, though.
--- those dumb teen movies in which the frumpy girl turns gorgeous by taking her hair out of the ponytail and taking off her glasses. Ta-da!
Jamie! I am shocked, shocked that you wrote that. Pony tails are not frumpy!
But wait, my main point was this.... You may well be right about teen movies with sudden wowie-zowie transitions to sexiness. But the greatest example of all, for my money, is in The Big Sleep. Famed for Bogart-Bacall, nonetheless the hottest moments in that picture come when Dorothy Malone removes her glasses, shakes out her hair, and suddenly transforms herself from mousy bookstore clerk to va-va-voom drinking partner and hangs the Closed sign on the door for a little fun with Humphrey.
What a thread. When I can agree unreservedly with rhhardin, Jamie, Drago, Anon, The Crack Emcee, tim maguire, B, n.n., Dave Begley, Jeff Vader, Narr, Sydney, CJinPA, Jake, Tacitus, MikeD, Big Mike (yeah I know he disagreed with Jamie but I agree with both anyway), North)OfTheOneOhOne, Leland, Wilbur, Mark, tim in vermont and tommyesq it's a pretty interesting day!
Just for clarification: is it still the case that the ONLY category that you can "identify" into or out of is gender, right? If that's the case, and this person was over 18 before identifying as a gender, the person did NOT experience "girlhood," right? Or has there been an exciting new development allowing us now to "identify" as different ages? (Oh, I hope this is true! Retirement benefits, here I come!)
[My parents] are trying to learn how to be parents to a daughter while also watching their child get reamed....
I would have more sympathy for this argument had Dylan not been posting daily about it.
-- Day 1 as a girl!
-- Day 2 as a girl!
-- Day 3 as a girl!
When you open yourself to the world expecting affirmation, you can't be surprised when you also receive criticism.
Yes, it's all been quiet on the Dylan front for a few weeks now. It's time for a new meme, to get some new reactions from the squares to be hysterical over. It's a living, mate.
She wants jail for people who don't use correct pro-nouns.
Suppose there was a future in which being trans was quite common. In such a future there would be trans criminals or maybe trans activists arrested in protests and then the question comes: what side of the prison should they be on? male or female? Suppose a young man with a woman's body (or most of it still left). Won't he be in danger of horrendous abuse on the men's side? Of course, prisons know how to protect people in danger but how could a trans man phrase the request for help? "I'm a woman and I'll be raped?" In the wonderful Mulvaney future, it's a crime for the rest of us to say he's a woman; what is it for him to say it? And anyhow, it's against what he considers to be reality. Or, on the woman's side, the gang leaders get the best looking women as sex partners at the present. What if they could have cute little performing boy toy?
Reality can be pretty grim. Already Mulvaney is saying that the world is crazy - where does that take him in a few months? And if the worst happens, and he enters the real world, which is what Foucault would say sanatoriums and prisons are, Which side of that real world, male or female, should he ask to be imprisoned on?
"What really makes me controversial?"
It's not that complicated: Dylan has a strong desire to be famous. He also like to dress-up like a woman. This would be okay if it was done with a humorous effect or if he was a really convincing woman. Neither are the case, it's cringe and creepy.
If you're off-putting and constantly in the public eye because you seek fame, controversy is inevitable. Sorry, but it's obvious and Mulvaney should know this.
Gee whiz. Disregarding the silly second sentence I can even agree with what Inga wrote. I could have written it. Everybody is tired of Dylan. Everybody thinks Dylan needs to grow up. Nobody blames Dylan for Bud's woes. Has there ever been a post before at Althouse with this much convergence? My imperfect memory says nope. Not one with 50+ responses and climbing.
PS - I saw a pony tail reference but it wasn't Laslo dammit.
Live your life, knock yourself out…
Just stay away from our children.
learn to not desire universal acceptance
Words to live by!
Though difficult in adolescence - and the continuing difficulty of some people beyond adolescence these days points to a deep problem with these days.
Just tried to read the quote you supplied, Althouse. If I wanted to be charitable, I'd call it disjointed.
I hope this sad individual is being really well paid by the magazine, because he (she? it?) needs some expensive help.
Is it not offensive that the title of the article is a play on words for a title of a film about a psychologically disturbed woman? A Straussian reading of the title implies that the author considers Mulvaney to be delusional.
"That I’m hyperfeminine?"
Not. Even. Close.
I don't think the world was mad at Dylan, the world was/is mad at Bud Light in general and that product manager in particular. If she had just said it was a simple casual outreach to a small community, it would have disappeared quickly.
"That I’m hyperfeminine?"
Not. Even. Close.
And now I LOLed. Pithy.
I don’t think I’ve actually fucked up majorly. I think that the world is fucked up. Cheers to that.
Mulvaney is never going to reproduce.
For heterosexual men who want to have babies, a relationship with Mulvaney would be a lie. It's based on a deception. He presents as a woman, but it's plastic surgery. He has no uterus and will never bear a child.
To be honest, he would have to explain his situation to any suitor. That honesty would drive the vast majority of his suitors away. Even if he presented as hot or the perfect-looking woman.
As for homosexual men, they (presumably) are not going to be inspired by his female appearance. He might present as a she, as a woman, but that's not what a homosexual man is looking to find.
(I always thought Dog Day Afternoon was strange because one of the gay men was going to transition to a woman, and as a kid I wondered how the other gay man felt about his future sex life with a woman).
Dylan will never be a heterosexual mate for a man who wants to have children. And if he's supposed to bury the past, and it's a crime to talk about his past, then he has to burn all his family and friends and everybody who knew him back when he was a man.
It's an exercise of power. How dare you speak about my past, you peasant! The past is dead. I am a woman now.
But your history is reality, and your denial of your own past is dishonest. And of course the major form of dishonesty was done by the doctors who failed to treat his gender dysphoria and sold him on the (false) belief that doctors can turn a man into a woman.
I see why doctors are excited about their miraculous power! I just call bullshit. It's rather like your ability to make a woman go from pregnant to not-pregnant. All you really did was kill a small child and remove the baby's cadaver. You're not curing an illness, doc, you're in violation of the Hippocratic Oath, and you sold your soul for money.
See also the Budweiser CEO.
You pursue sex and money, and you use what's fashionable to get it. But fashions shift! And then you're caught up in your lies, unhappy and wondering what went wrong. So we all should remember, as we pursue sex and money, don't lie to people. That's how Satan works, he is Mr. Shortcut.
@Mike (MJB Wolf), I only pointed out that Jamie thought he would not be first, however he was first. And I congratulate him.
The truth (s)he avoided: "Now that I'm a woman, I'm not gay. My parents are so relieved."
Mike (MJB Wolf) said...
"A man, even one with feminine features, can never really be hyper-feminine because he ain't female, which is a prerequisite for true femininity. For you Dylan it is all just play-acting."
The proper word to describe Dylan is effeminate, which is applied to males and not females.
"She"
Heh. I like to be called "M'lord," but even though I pretend really-really-really hard to be an English earl, it's not working.
It's win-win for Dylan. He wants to be celebrated for his wit and frivolity, and some people do just that. Others find his act off putting, and that's even better. He gets to be martyred. Martyrdom is the highest and most sanctified form of celebrity. So it's all good. Dylan will respond to your jibes with a pained tolerance as he looks past you to some sunny upland pasture where someday, thanks to the efforts of visionaries like him, we will all reside. There's no possible response to Dylan that doesn't in some way rebound to his credit and glory.....Dylan doesn't come out of this contretemps a loser. Even the woman who hired him will probably go on to another job. Maybe not in marketing, but she's got that prestige degree and someone will hire her for her remarkable abilities.....The big losers here are the route drivers and salesman for Bud Light. Their skills and gender aren't so readily transferable to other positions. When they're laid off, they're dead meat. Their suffering doesn't rise to the level of martyrdom or even victimhood. They're like those greedy peasants who wanted to own their own cow.
"Girlhood, Interrupted"
Since he's 27 now, that's unfortunate. When will he finally grow into a woman? When he's 45?
Aberrant is the term that comes to mind. Bud light still ageing at the grocery.
What's next attention whore? Choking the chicken in a public parking lot like your "sister"?
Even if he presented as hot or the perfect-looking woman.
It's going to be hard to maintain that fiction every night when the neovagina expander dealie has to be inserted. Of course, I guess there used to be a lot of women who didn't take off their makeup until after their men were asleep, and got up early to re-apply - but I doubt whether it really fooled the guys.
Big Mike - as I've said about similar subjects, I don't give a hoot about this and will certainly answer to "him,", but just for clarity - Jamie, she/her, all parts intact if no longer in production.
"... years from now we’ll look back on this time period and be like, What the fuck was that?"
Indeed we shall.
If I was the only person who refused to accept that men can physically change their bodies and become women, I'd accept that I was wrong. But there is no consensus on transwomen being women and even though I am officially in the LGBTQ+ tribe, I can not go along with this program. For that reason alone Dylan and others label me as "right wing," which I find inaccurate and very objectionable. That's the nature of politics these days though. If you offend the doctrine of the left you are automatically labeled without hesitation as a right wing extremist so that you might be dismissed. That's how Democrats have decided to maintain their power, through invalidation of opposing viewpoints, while accusing Republicans and "fringe Democrats" of destroying democracy. The Democrats are destroying the country's founding principles in order to protect democracy, and very few Democrats seem to notice the tragic irony, or openly admit to it let alone protest against what is happening.
Many, but not the majority, of people in the US are willing to accept that some men want to live as women (and vice versa) and if changing their outward appearance is helpful, that's not controversial, go for it. We tend to abide with the philosophy of individual freedom and it's your right to live as you choose as long as you are not harming any other living being, or imposing your belief system on others. Trying to impose your beliefs on others goes too far. The fact that Dylan Mulvaney and others are determined to impose gender theory on everyone and destroy that basic American ethos is very troubling.
Cassandra lite said: The truth (s)he avoided: "Now that I'm a woman, I'm not gay. My parents are so relieved."
Small sample size, obviously, but 100% of the M => F students who were actually taking hormones, etc., whom I've taught since 2017 have been from religious backgrounds that don't have rainbows on the door of the church/synagogue/mosque: orthodox Jewish, Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Muslim (from Pakistan). Even if parents are themselves accepting of a gay son (and after all, they were still paying tuition, and I met two families at graduation, and they seemed typically proud of their kid), I wonder if there is nevertheless some kind of major internal conflict based on being attracted to men but having unconsciously accepted that notion that such attraction is a religious abomination. The mind's social-media-created and physician-enabled "solution": "The reason I'm attracted to men is not that I'm a cursed-by-God homosexual but that I'm actually a woman."
It worries me a lot that the two of these kids I knew best were having a LOT of health problems from all the medicines and hormones they were on, and it's hard to imagine those issues getting better after they've been taking the drugs for longer periods of time.
And although college students are adults and deserve to be treated as such, I worry that these young people have made such life-altering decisions before they have enough life experience to understand the ramifications. A lot of students discover that many of their mental health issues go away upon graduating because, it turns out, those were a result of their environments, not something internal. What if that would be the case for these students, but they've now gone too far down a path from which they cannot return.

I am 100% with Inga on this, except I'm not a leftist. But Inga nails it.
Nothing said by Dylan and others similarly situated alters the binary nature of the xx/xy dichotomy, or the structural neurological distinctions between male and female. Dylan is a poster child for Lysenkoism. The rages expressed by Dylan are classic instances of cognitive dissonance.
Transgenderism is the pet rock of this decade. Except we're not just making rocks ridiculous and useless. We're doing it to people.
I thought Dylan’s 15 minutes of fame were over. Goodnight, Dylan.
He not only wants to cross gender, he wants to infantilize himself.
But sure..cheers to that.

There's living your life(style), then there's grifting your life(style).
Look to the metric thar makes us aware of a gender liquid age denial spectacle.
He can pretend to be whomever he wants to be, but STOP trying to shove it down our throats to try to make US believe fake science. He will ALWAYS be male. PERIOD.
Well said!!.. Rosalyn C. @ 7:35 pm
Wilbur has the right take.
This has nothing to do with the female impersonator.
This has to do with AB mocking and disrespecting their customer base. Their goal was to 'shed' the good old boy, frat boy, image (because they are icky) and embrace the fetish population of gender iffy.
Strange that the good old boys agreed to leave AB because they were no longer wanted by AB
This has nothing to do with the guy that acts strange.

1. don't change your dead name
2. Don't cut your dick off
3. Make bank on the notoriety
4. "Transition" back to an effeminate gay man
5. Make bank on THAT "transition"
