For the Annals of Men in Shorts.

Amazing to dress like that at a serious job, but other than that, I see no problem with his use of sarcasm. As far as I'm concerned, he can go on to all the tricks — irony, metaphor, bathos, puns, parody, litotes, and satire.

With a criminal for a candidate, Republicans can only lie and lie some more. Truth in the United States has been destroyed by the far right, a group dedicated to killing democracy and replacing it with fascism. They feel they could not just stand by while abject evil was defeated by sensible people, so astonishing lies were their only real choice.

The Republicans really inhabit another planet where shame and honesty clearly don’t exist...

So how did this post earn a "women in shorts" tag?

Party, magic, card, animal, skateboard, etch-a-sketch, yo-yo.

Those aren’t shorts, they’re clown pants.

Is a U.S. Senator a serious job? Fetterman dresses like the typical occupant of a nursing home, of which he is a member of by being in the Senate.

From MW: One common complaint regarding the adjectival use of amazing is the extent to which the word is used in what some feel is a watered-down fashion. Those who take this position argue that unless someone is literally being amazed, the word is ill-chosen.

I'd like to believe in this context the word is ill chosen but Ann's a lexiconic nit picker...

I saw it as satire also and witty enough to show mental faculty. But he is wearing shorts.

I think we can all agree if Fetterman nails someone's head to the floor, or a coffee table, then he will have gone too far.

Does this prove he can understand the spoken word now, or not?

Of course the brain-damaged Fetterman would never vote to convict Biden notwithstanding the voluminous evidence of bribery. But then again neither will any other Dem.

The Dems are at the point that they know their voters don’t care and even if they did care, they can just steal the election. Fetterman is Senator for life.

Are you also for all of those rhetorical devices being turned back on that addlepated man?

Obvious Althouse sarcasm.

This guy has the brains of a 12 year old.

Sloppy clicking by me. Thanks for the push to correct.

There's nothing girly about Fetterman.

Ann Althouse said...

But he is wearing the type of long swirly shorts that look like a skirt. Basketball players used to wear them (and look awful).

Ann Althouse said...

" unless someone is literally being amazed"

I agree that the word "amazing" is terribly overused, but I was literally amazed.

Yes, I think the conservatives who are mocking him and acting like he's defective and pathetic look quite awful.

I wish more politicians would come back with heavy sarcasm like that.

Trump does!

He's a moron. No one here would hire him to manage your lawn cutting service.

I'm assuming he's coming from some kind of PT here, hence the weird garb.

Ditto!

It is interesting that the post provides every opportunity for commenters to gloat about Biden being under an impeachment inquiry, the same way lefty commenters gloated about Trump's inquiries, while Democrats pretended to be sacred and serious. I'm not seeing people acting silly because Biden might be made to answer for selling his loyalty and support to foreign investors. Fetterman may not be taking it serious, but not many people take Fetterman as serious.

So, then why all the Biden administration stonewalling and subterfuge?

Would we be awful if we mocked those who can't see he is defective and pathetic?

I disagree, Crack. Boyde's monster was more handsome and his eyes showed more intelligence.

Please stick that in your "garner" file, Ms. Hostess. It means nothing. Saying something by saying it.

And, but, you could do worse than Freeing Garner!

I am not one to stand on ceremony, dress or otherwise.

In fact, I have given instructions to my sons that at my funeral service (should there be one) that no ties are allowed.

But the man needs to have some respect for the office and wear something a wee bit more professional.

Btw, we were told early on, before his senatorial debate, that he needed a prompter so see things written out. But I saw a reporter interview him in the hallway and he was fine answering verbal questions.

Is he recovering? Or was he lying then?

Maybe he’s faking the brain injury b/c I’ve heard &seen him and he’s stilted, halting and lost. Weird 180.

In this case the only trick he is missing is a logical argument as to why Biden has shell bank accounts, or why the messages found on Hunter's laptop aren't real, or anything else that would disprove the amount of evidence of probable corruption that we are seeing around Biden.

Glad to see Althouse has finally started to deal with the Biden corruption info even if it's just to comment on the possibilities of impeachment. Her dislike of Trump has made her avoid coming face to face with how bad Biden really is.

Maybe there is hope she will take the red pill and realize that, if she wants the rule of law that she taught to survive, she needs to dump the democrats and the New York Times.

To my eyes (retired internist), Fetterman seems to be exhibiting pseudobulbar affect, a sequela of brain injury such as might occur post stroke. Patients exhibit inappropriate emotional responses that can be difficult to control-laughing when you should be sad, crying at something funny.

I also have a theory about Mitch McConnell’s freezing episodes but I don’t want to overshare.
