A character study in "dehumanization" or why some people come thru (as in the movie) while others (school shooters) don't?

The video does not make the school shooter connection. That was just me thinking while watching the video. Is probably not kosher to draw real life conclusions based on movies.

I don't know.

You know the one.

Here is an article about it.

Like Ann and John Hinderaker, I’m done with Trump. That giant settlement between Fox and Dominion says volumes.

Here’s my worst case scenario. Trump wins the primaries going away.

Feinstein resigns. Harris appointed Senator by Newsom. Hillary or Michelle named VP. Historic! Biden resigns late in the campaign due to “health reasons.” Michelle or Hillary president for 8 years. Republic finished.

Trump can’t win a general election. Damaged goods.

Is this the cafe? Someone is going around putting “for rectal use only” stickers on six packs of Bud Lite on store shelves. Marvelous! Wish I had thought of doing that.

Reading recommendation. "Power Failure: The Rise and Fall of an American Icon" (2022), by William D. Cohan. History of General Electric Corporation. Lots of detail about how things have evolved in American and world capitalism. Great tales of epic corporate infighting, the pressure to hit the quarterly and annual numbers, and the undying enmity between Jack Welch and Jeffrey Immelt. I missed out on this during my life as a mere lowly lawyer.

Cohan has a gift for narrative, and is able to preserve the Rashomon style differences of recollection of the various players without turning the story into mush. Reminiscent of one of those great doorstop biographies by Ron Chernow or Robert Caro.

1. “ Like Ann and John Hinderaker, I’m done with Trump.”
Ann and John were never for Trump.
2. “ That giant settlement between Fox and Dominion says volumes.”
So Fox settles with Dominion and it’s Trump’s fault?
Trump is the only candidate who can beat (figuratively speaking, of course) the Democrats.

Instead of crying about those poor, poor trannies taking over womens sports getting attacked, WHERE are the Media and the Progressives on this white woman getting beat by a rabid crowd of black teens?? They are silent over things like this, that are happening more and more, because they don't want to upset the little darlings. The new Chicago Mayor is warning against demonizing the little hoodlums, because they only do this because they are poor. WAHHHH....as our country circles the toilet bowl.

Counterpoint to @Dave Begley:

Republicans get their sh*t together and create a massive voting fraud monitoring and prevention system.

Trump wins in a historic landslide.

Putin decides to negotiate peace in Ukraine. Xi stands down from Taiwan aggression. Men are no longer allowed to compete in women's sports. Sex change procedures for minors are banned by Federal law. Etc.

When I heard Fox settled, I figured it was a few million to get rid of a nuisance suit. That is, they treated it like a math problem—if it costs 10 million to fight, then settle for less. The amount—787 million—is astounding. I don’t see how Dominion can prove damages, and it’s impossible to see how they might prove those damages.

Fingers crossed that somebody leaks the agreement—the public has a right to know when a major news organization settles for that kind of money.

As with other Begley responders, I’m unclear how this reflects badly on Trump—who wasn’t a party to the suit.

The real problem is not what's illegal, but what's legal--vote harvesting. Sure, there were big city machines doing what big city machines do and the Republicans need to work harder to thwart their brand of fraud, but Trump lost because he got out-hustled.

In the long run, vote harvesting needs to be outlawed. But more immediately, the Republicans will not win another presidential election until they match the Democrat's "get out the vote" efforts. Knowing they should be illegal, wanting them made illegal, does not change the fact the until that time, vote harvesting--the ability to make sure every single person not inclined to vote will vote how you want them to--will decide elections.

Does that even show the ad?

"I have now seen that Amazon commercial 58,000 times. You know the one."

I didn't. Have never seen it. Don't assume people have seen things. The article was quite deceptive portraying what the ad was and the impression it made. I had to look up the ad and watch it and then felt had. The article writer either couldn't understand something easy or pretended to misunderstand it.

Dave B - Agree. But I think Cs and Rs are most likely screwed anyway. Cultural and social institutions are dominated by Ds and Ls. I believe the only demographic that Rs have won in forever are whites, and as we all know, whites are rapidly declining percentage wise.

The settlement agreement unlikely to be particularly interesting. $ amount public. It appears to contain a provision on a statement on falsity by Fox but really just acknowledging Judge's finding. Perhaps something on the a statement by Dominion; likely not given still pending libel suits.

The Justice Department, he said, "will not hesitate to expose and prosecute those who

and corrupt U.S. elections in service of hostile foreign interests, regardless of whether the culprits are U.S. citizens or foreign individuals abroad."

So it is now a crime in the United States to oppose war by saying true things about Ukraine if the truth hurts the neocons.

You notice that none of these people being attacked are accused of lying, just of "spreading Russian talking points," telling the truth is a crime if the truth makes Joe Biden look bad. This is why they are trying to throw Trump in jail, it's as if we have a king now, and opposition to his will is "treason."

First you win, then you fight. The Democrats have bought the Wisconsin Supreme Court by bribing people to vote in an off year election, and now all bets are off on controlling election shenanigans, we now live under a fascist state. According to LinkedIn, the CEO of Budweiser is a former CIA operative. It's the textbook definition of fascism.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sedition_Act_of_1918
It forbade the use of "disloyal, profane, scurrilous, or abusive language" about the United States government, its flag, or its armed forces or that caused others to view the American government or its institutions with contempt. Those convicted under the act generally received sentences of imprisonment for five to 20 years.

Does anyone think, that the current ACLU will have any problems with the new order?

While the article writer's response might seem exaggerated, if you've seen the ad as often as I have, you'll understand where the writer is coming from.

Trump himself saw a connection. He was on Truth Social imploring Murdoch to testify that the election was stolen. Deaf ears.

of course they stole the election, look at the evidence all around you, look at what they hide, and what they lie about, look at how the country has been looted, just in the last two years, look at how they celebrate the murder of Christian children, or Asians in certain corners, or Jews,

As predicted many times over the last several years, the entirety of GOP/GOPe failures of the last 40 years would be laid at Trump's feet in order to allow everyone who is "tired of the drama" to just "move on" and pretend that once Trump is gone its all going to work out swell.

And that's precisely what has happened.

The democraticals know that all they have to do is keep throwing crap at the walls and eventually, all the decent, non-icky republicans will always cast the "problematic" candidates to the side in order to gain just a bit of "peace and quiet" on the way to the next "respectable" and "honorable" defeat.
