I am blasé. I am inured to beauty. Madison Wisconsin sunscapes are penultimate, I get it. So where does this exercise in meteorology take us? I love the pictures, don't get me wrong, I love the construction cranes and the power plant, and even our Union penetrated Capitol, insurrection. Democrats break windows, that is true.

I love the sandstone, Devonian or Cambrian. Even Ordovician, the giver of lead ore that is memorialized in the Wisconsin Flag!! Give us Wisconsin Iron, give us her lead and copper, and silver.

On Wisconsin!

Get this Althouse community. A Dem NE state Senator said repeatedly on the floor of the Legislature that if a bill she opposes is passed, it will amount to genocide of the trans community. She has a minor female child who thinks she is a boy. She’s said that on social media.

Genocide! Genocide as in the Holocaust. Over six million intentionally killed by the Nazis.

So, I asked a UNL polisci professor named Ari Kohen to condemn that crazy talk. He’s an expert on the Holocaust and Jewish.

He then called me deranged on Twitter. His followers agreed. To them, I’m the crazy person.

How fucked up is that?

At least I have March Madness and my Creighton Bluejays.

Hundreds of comments about Duncan and Steinbach. An indefinite procession of shadows, that rouged and powdered in an invisible glass, maybe.

The one quote from the various posts that, for me, stayed powdered at the surface of the rouged invisible glass: "...in the context of an institution that hired her to stand in the crossroads of competing interests."

My take: our beloved hostess sees herself in Steinbach: caught between low-caliber children and lower educators and administrators and politicians. She, perhaps, has walked more than a few steps in similar moccasins, believes the right mixture of words could still possibly make the oil and the water coexist.

The problem is that now the children in the classroom have gone feral.

Maybe Althouse saw the beginning of this, maybe she left the profession before the teeth grew so sharp.

As Nicolas Cage once exclaimed: The bees, the bees.

I am Laslo.

You need to meet a really nice girl and it will all fall in place. Of course the computer world is quite liberal. I'd suggest a trad Mass or an evangelical church service.

And the freeway was a mess as well.

But this was 2 miles from maybe the wealthiest zip code in the country.

K. T. McFarland on Gutfeld tonight told us how to end the Ukrainian war in 6 months without spending a cent or a life: Open up all of the taps full blast on US oil and natural gas production, drive the price of oil down to $20/BBL, and Russia will be begging for peace as their economy tanks.

Do you think our chicken-hawk leaders are astute enough to know that? Of course they are. They are just more evil than smart.

Dave Begley, yes, you are crazy...you asked a POLISCI professor to condemn the crazy talk. That's as crazy as it gets these days. Well Ok, you might have asked a Stanford Law DEI commissar.

Actually, the extreme language used by the left is an old Soviet tactic to literally criminalize any and all opposition to the party/state. The left are going full-on Soviet as they consolidate power in every institution they control. They use the extreme language to justify their own extreme actions to shut down all opposition. Ultimately, there will be "archipelagos" where they well be sending all the crazy people who oppose them.

And how do I know? I am a real refugee from a Soviet captured republic. I'm not joking. This is really where the United States is heading if the left isn't stopped.

By 1829, more than 4,000 miners worked in southwestern Wisconsin. They produced 13 million pounds of lead a year. Badgers Miners who moved to the area in the 1820s and 1830s didn't spend much time constructing shelters. Some simply burrowed holes into hillsides, earning them the nickname "badgers."

So the miners who migrated into Wisconsin from lead mining country, just south and west of Saint Louis, lived uncomfortably in holes-in-the-ground and called themselves "badgers"? Badgers are uncommon in Missouri.

From Wendy's link:

"Put the adults back in charge," they whined. "Donald Trump will break the world," they lied. Well, they manipulated election rules to certify suspicious vote totals that preposterously portrayed senile Joe Biden as the most popularly elected president in history; censored and locked up anyone who complained; and covered up their crimes with J6 show trials drenched in untruths meant to hide from history the Uniparty's underhanded machinations in outright stealing a presidential election. The whole mess was so banana-republic-yucky that Biden was inaugurated behind barbed wire and a show of military force befitting the small junta who attended the successful coup's celebration. And as a result of the Uniparty's installation of Dementia Joe as White House marionette, the American people have been plagued with crime, inflation, political persecution, COVID tyranny, deadly battlefield retreat, open borders, staggering drug deaths, proxy wars, bankruptcies, bank runs, endless new regulations, a plummeting standard of living, economic panic, and social volatility. Elections have consequences, but stolen elections have catastrophes.

I loved the article about the fake sister city. "The biggest red flag was that anyone wanted to be a sister city with Newark" I kept browsing that NY news site for a bit. Good lord, that place is a mess! One grotesque local news story after another, most involving meth.

This business with the judge speaking at Stanford has really called attention to some stupid and unpleasant people here in the comments. Not because they disagree with the host, but just the incivility of some of the responses. Althouse may be many things, but stupid and thoughtless aren't among them.

I'm on board with reparations in all major cities. I'm also on board with defunding police in the same. Close up every police department in LA, ChiTown, NYC, the Motor City, and SF. Give fair warning to residents to flee. Survival of the fittest. Let the criminal vultures pick over the bones. Could the outcome be any worse?

Why would the danger pass when a court stops the handout? The people who think they’re entitled to reparations are unlikely to accept quietly the court’s decision. They might even protest. Mostly peacefully, though.

Ionejustice.

Technically speaking, the Unicameral is non-partisan. But the reality is entirely different. The Dems are running the filibuster.

The Dems want to run without a D behind their names on the ballot. What happens is that low information voters frequently vote for radical Dems. In Nebraska, 200-300 votes can make a difference. There's one Omaha seat where a radical Dem won the seat. His name is Fredrickson. He ran against Stuart Dornan. The name "Dornan" might sound weird to some people. Kind of like beating on horses based on the color of the jockey's silks.

The Dems have a bill to make the race for Governor and other constitutional offices to be non-partisan. It's a trick.

In a bit of news, Sen. M. Cavanaugh has been filibustering every single bill. She said she would, "burn this session to the ground." Today she reneged on her promise. Her brother is also a state senator and she just figured out she shouldn't delay her brother's bill.

Dave. Thanks for the explanation. I grew up in Southwestern Iowa. All of our television stations were from Omaha, and I delivered the Omaha World Herald newspaper as a kid on my paper route. My parents subscribed to the Herald, instead of the Des Moines Register, because they were Republicans and thought the Herald was less partisan. I remember that the front page of the Sunday Herald always had the story and score of the Nebraska Huskers football victory. Banner headline! But I guess those days are gone. As delivery boys, we called it the "Omaha Weird Herald," but hey, we were kids waking up at 5:00 a.m. to go on our paper routes after downing bottles of Pepsi with salted peanuts poured in the bottle. Good times.
