Sure glad we didn't get the predicted 8 inches.

We’re getting snow tonight into tomorrow. We’re kinda know for snow machines and skiing, where I’m at.
The skiing is good, I think. I haven’t seen a snow machine yet. Business up here rely on Winter play. Let’s hope it’s a good dumping.

Did that broken tree recently fall? One would think a popular public pathway would be speedily cleared of such hurdles.

There's an old saying about treason:

"Why doth treason never prosper? For if treason doth prosper, none dare call it treason."

The same can be said for election fraud under the Democrats.

"Why doth election fraud never prosper? For if election frauddoth prosper, none dare call it election fraud."

Tim Crouder is pretty funny.

He also is picking the right fights.

You have no idea how fortunate you are to have snow instead of rain.

It’s been like that for months. Seems to be a permanent fixture.

Three out of the four teams left in the NFC playoffs are from the NFC East. And the fourth team, the Washington Commies, were 8-8-1, a half game better record than Tampa Bay, which did make it into the playoffs.

To get to the Super Bowl the 49ers will have to beat two AFC East teams on back to back weekends. Good luck to them.

The number of Virginia high schools that failed to notify students of their National Merit awards is now up to 17 — eight in Fairfax (inner suburbs of DC), 5 in Loudoun County, snd 4 in Prince William (both outer suburbs). I hope the rot stops there.

I see the path runs beneath it. Out in the woods we used to call them “deadfalls” or “widow makers.” Up to you, Althouse and Meade, but in your shoes I wouldn’t walk under it.

I want this comment to be a political. I observed the aging and weakening of the New Zealand PM, which led to her resignation on the grounds that she was just no longer up to the job. Over the past month or so, I observe Pres. Biden looking much more frail and weak -- the way he walks, but the way his eyes look. Does anyone else notice this? If it is obvious why hasn't the WH press corp brought it up?

And thanks Saint Croix for the dog videos.

When do we get to experience the future of music, sent through these new AI prompts? I'm dying to hear 2 Live Crew's "Pop That Coochie," sung by the Vienna Boys Choir.

Antifa just learned the hard way that the law lets you shoot back. Also that trying to kill a cop is not entirely risk-free. You’d think they would have learned from the Kyle Rittenhouse case.

Too good to check — wife read an article that claims the attendees at Davos were demanding that their private planes be flown by unvaccinated pilots. What do they know that the US government is not telling us?

We've had only rain, no snow cover in Milwaukee. You don't have to shovel rain.

I assume you mean the 49ers will have to beat two NFC East teams, not AFC. They should handle the Cowboys, and probably will have the Eagles in the NFC Championship..

Big Mike said...

@Curious George, yes, of course. Some day I will learn how to proofread my own text. Believe it or not, I proofread that comment —twice! — and missed the mistake until this morning.

If Prescott has a game like he did against Tampa Bay it could be an all-NFC East conference championship.

Tampa’s defense couldn’t cover me. Dak will have a much tougher time against the Niners. Still, I’d love to see a Cowboys/Eagles NFC championship game.

Waitaminute: WHO was predicting 8"? That was awful wishcasting if you saw it without qualifiers. The rain/snow line in all the forecast models was very close to Dane County.

Tucker Carlson dropped the hammer on the “permanent Deep State” yesterday, charging that the CIA was actually behind Richard Nixon’s ouster over Watergate by a former intel operative named Bob Woodward who “came directly from the classified areas of the federal government.”

That fallen tree is clearly a hazard. When a branch on the right side breaks, the fallen trunk will twist off of the upright trunk and the fall will complete. What entity is responsible for this parcel? Actually, I should say, irresponsible.

tim in vermont said...

On my walking path, after the 90mph wind gusts of a few weeks ago, is a tree uprooted and suspended in the branches of smaller trees, and on the path are a bunch of limbs you have to pick your way through, like one of those football obstacle courses. It reminds me of an art exhibit I saw once, in the '70s, maybe, at the Albright Knox museum in Buffalo, where they had a chair with a gun trained on it, set to go off at some random time in the next few decades, and you were free to sit in it.

"Tucker Carlson dropped the hammer on the 'permanent Deep State' yesterday, charging that the CIA was actually behind Richard Nixon’s ouster over Watergate by a former intel operative named Bob Woodward who 'came directly from the classified areas of the federal government.'”

Well, he presented a narrative intended to convince his viewers of a "truth" that he did not prove, at least, not insofar as he provided any documentation to support his dark tale.

I have no doubt the CIA would kill Mother Theresa if it served their purposes--hell, they might very well have killed Martin Luther King--but Tucker hasn't provided reasons the CIA would have wanted to take down Nixon. He doesn't provide support for his allegation that Woodward was a CIA agent or asset. He also finds it suspicious that this unknown reporter was hired by the Washington Post and immediately assigned to "the biggest story in the country." Well, Woodward failed a try to get into the Post and he had to work a year at a lesser newspaper before he tried again and was hired at the Post. Also, when Woodward and Bernstein first started reporting on the Watergate Story, it wasn't a big story at all...it was seen by most as a minor little break-in and it was treated as an insignificant story. It was largely the dogged reporting by Woodward and Bernstein that made it a big story.

Before we can accept Carlson's story as presented, he will have to provide a great more documentation that supports and can prove his particular narrative.
