Zero Hedge: "Biden DOJ Wants $34 Million To Keep Targeting J6 Defendants"

"The Biden administration's weaponized Department of Justice (DOJ) has asked Congress for more than $34 million in new funding to continue its January 6th investigation, NBC News reports. The budget request for 2023 will fund 130 employees, including 80 federal prosecutors, to aid in the "extraordinary," "unprecedented" and "complex" investigation."

Things are so wacked; we have to vote in November to keep people out of jail. And if that sounds like some Woke leftist scheme, that might be just right.

A few days ago Althouse wrote a post about Jonah Goldberg mocking (via Twitter) Jordan Peterson's seeming over wrought response to a question about whether or not he believed in God. There is a back story to this. The interview was Peterson, and his Orthodox Christian artist and Wingman, Jonathan Pageau, and a militant Canadian Muslim named Mohammed Hijab. Pageau has now released his own take on the interview, in which he accuses Hijab of not dialoging in good faith. Pageau says that Hijab was playing to Muslim audience by using the interview as an attempt to convert Peterson. Pageau says, for example, that in having dinner with Hijab after the interview, he (Pageau) accused Hijab of criticizing a caricature of Christians' beliefs about the Holy Trinity, and that Hijab responded that it was not a caricature, it came straight from Apollo's (sic) Creed.
You can see Pageau's take on the interview with Hijab here.

Re: Peterson and his conversation with the Muslim.

Muslims don't share Western, modern premises and there's little point discussing important matters, religious or otherwise, with them. Koranic literalism, and the assumption that Jews and Christians are or should be equally literalist, precludes fruitful dialogue, IMHO.

We had some cool nights here and many of the trees are starting to turn and shed. One of our neighbors has some arborists taking out some old oaks, but unfortunately it's not the neighbor directly behind with the even bigger, older, oaks in his backyard. Those suckers will flatten anything they fall on, and there are five houses within reach, not to mention the power lines directly under them.

The last two winters here have been harsher than all but one or two of the previous 60-something I can recall; I'm starting to have a bad feeling about this one.

Democrats think they have a new scandal about Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort renting rooms to the Secret Service for over $1,000 (don't have the exact figure) a night when the government rate is much, much less. I couldn't find rates for MaL, but there's a hotel (The Breakers Palm Beach)about a 1/2 mile away that has two golf courses. Rooms there go for $1,690 a night.

The government must pay the free market hotel rate. To pay less is a gift and is against the Anti-Deficiency Act, to pay more is gouging. Paying ~$1,000 a night for a room is within expected rates for luxury hotels.

Why do we have a military base in Syria, and why is it guarding an oil field? It’s almost as if it’s there to starve Syria’s legitimate and sovereign government of cash, and that it’s part of a global war with Russia that we have been fighting for decades and ramped up during the Obama Administration. Syria, Libya, and starting a civil war in Ukraine were all Obama Biden initiatives, all Russian clients, like Iraq, which is why the laptop was suppressed even before the Democratic primaries, when he could have been replaced by another Democrat easily. The security state and its neocon allies needed one of their own, one over whom they held a lot of compromising dirt.

ha ha

A lot of Muslims think Christians believe in multiple gods, so I could see how he might make that mistake.

There's only one God. Jesus referred to him as Abba ("Daddy").

The way to think about Jesus, in my opinion, is when he walked the earth, he was united with God and without sin. Anybody can follow the way of Jesus. The early Jews and non-Jews who were followers of Jesus called it The Way.

To this day he's the best moral thinker I've ever read, by far. He's right on everything, and he's the only authority I trust.

When I was a kid I used to wonder if Jesus ever stank, if he went to the bathroom. I had this idea of him being god-like and I really didn't understand anything.

Once you get into Bible study and you read the words of Jesus you get true insight into the man. He bled, he cried, he drank wine, he had to wash when he was dirty or sweaty. He was fully human. Christians also believe that he was fully divine (i.e. united with God).

Repeating creeds, in my opinion, is a horrible, robotic way of teaching. "Repeat the creed and you will be saved." We repeat the Nicene creed every Sunday in the Episcopal church. (We say the Apostle's creed too, but not as much). You can repeat those words like a mantra, but if you don't know Jesus those creeds aren't going to help you much.

Listening to Brave New World this week, my first time with the book. Fascinating stuff. Huxley is a genius.

He gets compared to Orwell, a lot. Both wrote dystopian books but Orwell was totally focused on the evils of Communism.

Brave New World is scary because it still applies to our lives today.

Dehumanizing human beings.

Treating human beings as commodities.

Destroying the family.

Destroying the past.

Hating nature.

Worship of science.

So far it's like the Reign of Terror run by B.F. Skinner.

Averted vision is a powerful tool. It helps see faint objects, but not small ones. The spatial resolution of the light-sensitive rods is poor compared to the cones in the fovea.

We also have a phrase "averted imagination", for an observer who swears he can see something but none of his observer buddies concur.

Thanks for the further comment on the double. Looking at charts, there doesn't seem to be a double at the "right tip of the horns of Taurus", though I'm not sure what your calling the "horns". Are the two stars roughly the same magnitude?

"The Capitol was closed to the public and all those who entered were trespassers" And yet, the Capital Police intentionally were intentionally short-staff, leaving too few personnel to effectively protect the building, if a crowd was expected. How did this happen?

Also funny, there were no signs posting this closure, and even funnier, the Capital Police are on video at multiple entrances, opening the doors for people and waving them in, genially. That's kind of an unusual way to be off-limits, isn't it, for the Halls of Congress? Under-staff the cops, then open up the doors and wave people in? Some people visiting the nation's Capital might interpret that as, I dunno, a uniquely public place with officials welcoming visitors. Just f'r example.

Government Website for Capital Police:

https://www.uscp.gov/visiting-capitol-hill/visitor-information/building-access-hours

"The U.S. Capitol is open to the public for tours Monday - Saturday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. It is closed on Sundays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Inauguration Day. " Which of these was Monday, January 6th, in early afternoon?
