Liz Truss put forth a proposal for economic growth in the UK. She was criticized. She folded like a cheap suit/card table/tent/paper napkin. Doesn't matter what the idea was, if you're that easily intimidated, your power as prime minister is already gone.
I noticed Joe Biden is committing spousal abuse again on his bitches, otherwise know as "the media."
NY Post:
“They’re among the only press in the world that does this. Seriously. Seriously,” Biden told his guests as he opted not to answer any of the questions from the small daily press pool. Biden’s disbelieving tone on Tuesday wasn’t the first time the president was caught seeming to diss the press as they clamored for his attention."
Of course, this is only to be expected. Every once in a while, you gotta slap your bitch to keep her in line.

Our neighbor is a trained chef and her son is, possibly to his surprise, wanting to follow in her footsteps. He made a brioche that I'm having slices of toast from and it is divine.
Might one reason for Putin's nuclear threats be that he has withdrawn troops all along the present NATO line to send them to Ukraine. So he is warning NATO not to take advantage. Of course, NATO has no idea of advancing into Russia. NATO doesn't want to advance into Russia and the Russian people don't want to mobilize. This is completely different from the situation at the start of WW I when everybody wanted to advance into somebody else's territory and everyone had mobilization plans. We're in a different situation and it's very hard to see what's going on. What exactly is it that Gen Z is really saying or hearing? You'd think we'd know with social media. But there's a huge signal clutter. Yet it's my belief that, despite the signal/noise ratio certain themes are perfectly evident to that generation but not to the rest of us. Simply because that is a new generation, we can't see what is established for them. Maybe smart phones have abolished "peasants" world-wide and new connections have to be made between governments and their people. Maybe, while that is going on, there's no way to mobilize a large army unless a country is directly invaded.
David French, a true conservative, was a staff writer at National Review, contributing to NR's infamous "Against Trump" editorial in January 2016. The blistering editorial questioned Trump’s commitment to conservatism, warning voters that backing him is tantamount to allowing the conservative movement to have “fallen in behind a huckster.”
“Trump is a philosophically unmoored political opportunist who would trash the broad conservative ideological consensus within the GOP in favor of a free-floating populism with strong-man overtones.”
Now David is with Stephen Hayes and Jonah Goldberg at The Dispatch. But as a Never Trump conservative he will forever be a target of Donald's lapdogs.
"I want to write about cruelty and slander and how those dark sins are wielded as weapons of political and cultural warfare in the worst corners of the online right. While politics has never been a gentle pursuit, the advent of Trumpism and the Trumpist ethos has spawned a host of popular voices who embrace lies as a tactic and character assassination as an objective."
The Trump sickness examples that French gives are frightening.
gilbar, very interesting information about 1883, thank you! We were wondering why it took them SO LONG to get through Texas, only to speed through the remaining states in a couple of episodes.
Still puzzled about how Hollywood stupid by and allowed either of these programs to go forward. There's some wokeness, but a surprising amount of reasonable exposition of what makes conservatives conservative. And the hardest left characters are portrayed as naive at best, silly and weak at worst.
Of course gadfly has a crush on David French. Not surprised in the least. "Ahab had his white whale. Wile E. Coyote has his Road Runner. Charlie Brown had the football that Lucy wouldn’t let him kick, and a lot of other things that made him exclaim “Rats!” And columnist David French has the destruction of President Donald Trump as his obsession." (Just like gadfly!!)
Trump is not "unmoored" philosophically, he just doesn't buy into the "let's sell the little guy out to the globalists," and supports energy independence and strategic manufacturing independence of the United States. That's a philosophy, just not one that David French and his affluent friends in Manhattan can stomach.
"There are lots of little guys all over the world just waiting to replace the little guy in America, so he damn well better not make any waves!"
NATO overthrew the govt of Libya and stood by while Kaddafy was sodomized with an AK-47 and killed, and turned Libya into a shithole with open slave auctions, all because Libya was a Russian client, like Iraq and Syria, to name two more. I can't imagine why Russia would distrust NATO.
Regardless, both sides have always known that if NATO crosses onto Russian territory, the nukes will fly, and swim too. Russian and China currently enjoy advantages in hypersonic nukes and anti-missile tech, but sure, let's keep poking them over a smallish Russian speaking enclave in eastern Europe that is of no strategic interest of the United States, except as a pawn in an aggressive war against Russia, which Russia knows, even if you war cheerleading rubes here in the US don't. I mean you sense it, and it may gives you a little bit of a war boner, but you can't acknowledge it out loud, probably even to yourselves.
I fell for it and supported our war in Iraq whole-heartedly, to my eternal shame. The people behind that war just switched nominal parties. Remember when W gave Hunter Biden, a 26 yr old crack-head fresh out of college, a $90K seat on the Amtrak board of directors? Neocons have no party.
Jamie: I know, right! The writing is sophomoric formulaic... You get the idea. Apparently it's exactly what American viewers want because Taylor Sheridan is the hottest showrunner in Hollywood these days. Even my libtard family and friends love it. Thank you.
The constant accusations of "White Nationalism" are needed to divide and conquer the working class. It was well established strategy when Caesar wrote about it 2,000 years ago.
But without being a "conservative" or a "True Conservative" Trump was truer to the "broad conservative agenda" than most "conservatives" and "True Conservatives" are. "David Frenchism" has a lot to do with style, etiquette, and religious rhetoric, and he's ready to cave on various issues so long as he can feel that "norms" and "decorum" have been preserved. I liked the idea of a president who wasn't going to take elaborate rhetorical stands and then never attempt to put anything into practice.

Folded like a cheap truss?
So, they’re planning to house 500 illegal immigrants in AOC’s district and …..wait for it….she’s upset! Poor baby.
Called it.

My daughter is getting married in Paris. No, not Texas, FRANCE!!! She has to get State Dept. approval, and then schedule an appointment with the JoP.
She will have a civil ceremony at the Catholic Church here in town where she was confirmed over twenty years ago.
Her father is an absolute basket case.
We're watching 1883, having recently finished what was available of Yellowstone, and I have no idea how either one got made.

It's not. Sad.

Have you checked out the political leanings of the Trump appointed supreme court justices? Maybe you missed that.

I like the bottom photograph; you can really get a sense of the "dome of the sky" from it.
