Of course, NATO has no idea of advancing into Russia. NATO doesn't want to advance into Russia and the Russian people don't want to mobilize. This is completely different from the situation at the start of WW I when everybody wanted to advance into somebody else's territory and everyone had mobilization plans. We're in a different situation and it's very hard to see what's going on. What exactly is it that Gen Z is really saying or hearing? You'd think we'd know with social media. But there's a huge signal clutter. Yet it's my belief that, despite the signal/noise ratio certain themes are perfectly evident to that generation but not to the rest of us. Simply because that is a new generation, we can't see what is established for them. Maybe smart phones have abolished "peasants" world-wide and new connections have to be made between governments and their people. Still puzzled about how Hollywood stupid by and allowed either of these programs to go forward. There's some wokeness, but a surprising amount of reasonable exposition of what makes conservatives conservative. I can't imagine why Russia would distrust NATO.

Regardless, both sides have always known that if NATO crosses onto Russian territory, the nukes will fly, and swim too. Russian and China currently enjoy advantages in hypersonic nukes and anti-missile tech, but sure, let's keep poking them over a smallish Russian speaking enclave in eastern Europe that is of no strategic interest of the United States, except as a pawn in an aggressive war against Russia, which Russia knows, even if you war cheerleading rubes here in the US don't. I mean you sense it, and it may gives you a little bit of a war boner, but you can't acknowledge it out loud, probably even to yourselves.

I fell for it and supported our war in Iraq whole-heartedly, to my eternal shame.The people behind that war just switched nominal parties.
