"Self-proclaimed political outsider Tim Michels will face Democratic Gov. Tony Evers in November..."

"... after defeating his primary challenger Rebecca Kleefisch in Wisconsin's heated GOP gubernatorial primary Tuesday. Despite entering the race in late April, more than six months after former Lt. Gov. Kleefisch, Michels rode a surging campaign into Tuesday’s primary thanks in part to an endorsement from former President Donald Trump, who held a rally supporting Michels in Waukesha County on Friday....  While stumping for Michels in Waukesha County on Friday, Trump described Kleefisch as 'the handpicked candidate of the failed establishment, the "RINOs."'...  Evers' campaign manager Cassi Fenili [said]... 'The Republican Party has chosen the most extreme and divisive nominee possible, one that will tell Donald Trump anything just to keep his endorsement... From abortion and voting rights, to gun safety and public education — Tim Michels has staked out the most extreme positions possible, with the goal of dividing our state and pitting neighbors against one another.'"

isn't it, the democrat party; that has staked out the most extreme positions possible
Abortion?.......... Up to (and PAST!) the point of delivery?
voting rights?..... NO voter id, No signatures?
gun safety?........ No weapons designed to hurt people?
public education?.. No telling the parents, that you've convinced Sarah, that she is a boy?

When the left say 'voting rights"
they mean "voting rights for cheaters"

Yes, the Republican candidate is an extremist, because being on the left means you can't be an extremist, regardless of how fascist your policies are.

More extreme than sending the FBI into your opponent's home?

The Democrats just helped Ron Johnson in his re-election campaign by nominating a nut as his opponent.

The Most Divisive Person in History? How is it that virtually everybody he endorses wins their election? You'd think if Trump was so divisive, an endorsement from him would be the kiss of death.

Another clean sweep. Every candidate our president emeritus endorsed won yesterday.

Maybe we should call him Mr Broom

He is now 192-11 in endorsements

Yeah. It is what it is. Plus she lives in Madison, so it must seem relevant. The WI State Journal is a crazy lib rag. But what else is really out there? Not much in Wisconsin.

Funny. All these rags want to blame Scott Walker for Kleefisch's loss. They HATE Walker, and Pence is one of their new Liz Cheney heroes. Reality is Kleefisch posing with Mike Pence cost her a lot. I like her. I want Evers out. I didn't know who I would vote for in the primary until I saw her with Pence. And if you followed conservative commenters on Twitter last night, many said the same thing. "Pence finished Becky for me".

ga6 said...

State-Journal hates him.. OK vote for him and stop reading anything further about your election. A flame from Bob Sykes would seal the deal.

Gusty Winds said...

Check out the Milwaukee Journal Reporters on Twitter (Dan Bice) trying to blame Walker for Kleefisch's loss.

Liberal commenters are eating it up. "Walker Hurt her, NOT PENCE!"

For frothing, Trump/Walker hating Wisconsin libs, Mike Pence in now among the newly anointed Liz Cheney heroes. That's how you know he REALLY hurt her chances.

Sorry Becky. I think you're a rock star, but that was a really stupid move.

Not knowing a thing about Wisconsin politics, or any of the candidates, my takeaway is that the Trump brand remains enormously popular. We will see if I am right come November when all these unelectable far right candidates win.

I think I'm right.

The next two elections, both national and local, are going to pit the extreme candidate against the incompetent one.

That’s hilarious, and Trumpists voted for him, haha, it’s a mixed up messed up world. And interesting that Trump’s influence didn’t help Vos’ opponent win.

Isn't that what the Democrat Party has been encouraging everywhere?

Why are they complaining about it now?

Greg The Class Traitor said...

From abortion
So, I believe the agreement here is that "abortion legal until 15 weeks" is the "moderate" position on abortion.

Is that Ever's position? Or is he an abortion extremist?

and voting rights
Ah, so he thinks that people should have the right not to have their vote stolen by fraud?
Sorry, Tony, but it's people who are pro-fraud / anti-vote security who are the extremists

to gun safety
He wants to honor the US Constitution, which says "the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed"
Only an un-American extremist would oppose the rights granted by the US Constitution, right Dems?

public education

Let me guess, he's against teachers being allowed to sexually groom kids, and doesn't think the schools should be pushing racist claptrap?

The only thing divisive about President Trump has been his truth telling dividing the majority of the actual voters from the rule over them by the One Party State and it’s Media created propaganda narratives.

Fake news. He supported it and it is one of the things that the Dems are already trumpeting to rouse their base to vote for Governor Pencil Neck Evers (Inga's latest crush).

Good point. I have seen a lot of stories about how Trump's endorsement didn't help someone win but as far as I know I've never seen a story that indicated someone was winning *until* Trump endorsed them, and there's evidence Trump's team has been padding his average by issuing endorsements of obvious winners.

does the media use the term "self-proclaimed" to refer to any leftists' characterization of themselves? I suspect that such use is rather infrequent.

Republican candidate for governor Tim Michels says he supports Wisconsin’s current ban on requiring non-unionized workers to pay dues to their workplace union, despite his company’s history opposing it.

He owns a construction company. He didn't want his work sites sabotage by union extremists.

Not commendable, but not surprising for a non-politician

Michels company has over a Billion $ annually in WI state contracts and operates a union shop workplace, as do many companies in the upper midwest.

Michels personal positions, which do not have to align with a corporation's position nor any trade association or other group affilations, are not in any way hypocritical.

The only question is: when he states his personal position on policy, does he follow thru on them when he has an opportunity.

Businesspersons have to conduct business and play by the rules created for them. Perhaps that's one reason why Michels, a military veteran and son of a pipefitter has been so successful.

Of course, there are no reports of Michels showering with his daughters nor snorting coke and smoking crack while having sex with underage hookers so naturally, Michels is not getting the Inga vote.

HA!
I voted yesterday for Leora Levy in the Republican Primary for Senate (to run against Blumenthal and lose) rather than the party endorsed candidate (a capable and experienced moderate, who would also lose). I know very little about Levy except that she was endorsed by Trump. It was a message and a protest.

Message sent! She won in a major upset. Apparently a lot of people (or what amounts to a lot in a Republican primary in CT in August) feel the same way I do.

I don't have any illusions that Ms. Levy can win in CT. But I hope that the "Republican" establishment, on both the local and national levels, is getting the message.

Stop playing footsie with the left. They are playing for keeps. "Moderate" means they screw us more slowly.

boatbuilder said...

Christopher B- The candidate Trump endorsed here in CT was: a) very late in the game, and b) not expected to win by anyone--including many of us who voted for her.

So the stats are what they are--but they are not padded.

Mason G said...

"and there's evidence Trump's team has been padding his average by issuing endorsements of obvious winners."

It actually seems quite likely some of the people he supports would be obvious winners. So? I'm not seeing anything unusual about endorsing a candidate you support.

Does the NYT endorse Democrats in New York elections? I haven't checked, but I bet they do. How often are they criticized for "padding their average"?

I am so sick of Republican's positions characterized as extreme.

Most of the causes of the left would have been completely unbelievable 10 years ago. Trans hormones and surgery for children; a SCOTUS justice refusing to define the word "woman"; pornographic books in schools that can't be shown or read at school board meetings; emphasis on teaching green BS and CRT when our kids can't read or do math; teachers talking to kindergarteners about sexuality; no bail for criminals; abolishing police; abortion up to birth (and after as well), even abortion celebrations; coerced experimental vaccinations; political prisoners; show trials in DC; the DOJ colluding with the left to characterize parents at school board meetings as terrorists.

Taking as an example US House endorsements by Donald Trump from this chart at Ballotpedia, of the 141 House candidates endorsed by Trump, 115 of them are incumbents.

He's doing well in Open Seat races with 11 of 13 at least advancing to a runoff and Palin's Alaska primary still pending, and in picking Challengers with 7 of 12 winning and two still pending.

Claiming 18 wins out of 20 races is a nice percentage but doesn't look nearly as good as claiming 120 vs 5 defeats.
