If it was political, why was it so politically obtuse?

ADDED: Yang just posted that, and I can see the tweeters who are jumping right in to push back. These are the least subtle contributors to the national discourse, and they are getting way out in front of those  who might offer a sound, sophisticated, principled defense of what the FBI has done.

I'm seeing:
Jesus pal do you ever shut up?/Yeah, fck National security/It’s raid worthy. You Quisling.

I can imagine that this is some attempt to bolster The Donald, the candidate, so that he’s sure to run in the next election. The dems bet on the same thing in 2016, and their strategy hasn’t changed much since then.

The element of surprise was important because the stakes are so high. Paving the way for President Desantis who's office had to comply and support the FBI in the Florida raid.

Karma baby. The Dems and Progressives are going to get what they deserve...good and hard. They poked the angry bear once too many times. Payback will be a bitch.

If the feds have been paying rent and executed the search warrant to recover government documents, it’s just a landlord recovering its property from a tenant. How very Republican of the Biden administration.

The partisan breakdown of Twitter, were it a congressional district, would be the most left leaning district in the country.

Why would that be relevant? Who cares?

The only principled defense progs and the deep state need is that x will hurt Trump and the right. Of course, in particular cases they may miscalculate, but that doesn't change the "defense."

Sure, it doesn't satisfy nice women who want the pretense of sophistication, a veneer of seriousness, but there you have it, the real world of American politics, in which, believe it or not, the lust for power rather than "sound" argument matters.

People who HAVEN'T been raided by the FBI:

- Pedophiles associated with Jeffrey Epstein
- Hillary Clinton
- Hunter Biden
- Swalwell for sleeping with a Chinese spy

Forget Hillary's emails for the moment, what FBI/raid process was used for Sandy Berger as THE FORMER NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR of the Clinton administration when he stuffed classified documents down his pants and hid them at a dead drop for later retrieval?

But Clinton griting.

It was NOT Her-> e-mails - it was her private server used while Secretary of State.

Now we have Biden family international pay-to-play corruption that is ignored by the FBI, and Merrick's DOJ and the Media.

The left are corrupt - the left are our Soviet overlords. but hey everyone! 87,000 IRS agents!

That Andrew Yang is mildly curious and doubtful - well- Andrew Yang will now be pushed out the outside.

You will Obey the Clinton corruption machine. You will obey the Biden corruption Machine. You will Obey the NBC corruption machine. You will Obey the Washington Post propaganda machine. The insider Pelosi family grifters must never lose power.

Peter Navarro led through airport in leg irons. Roger Stone greeted at dawn with 20 screaming FBI agents, arms up, and a CNN crew. Steve Bannon arrested on a boat. Paul Manafort imprisoned on supposed crimes that previously admins completely overlooked. Gen. Flynn loses wealth, home over gestapo tactics. Donald Trump’s home raided, safe cracked.

Calling this “Banana Republic” tactics completely diminishes the terror being released on one side of the politics spectrum. We are in the eye of the Cultural Revolution/Soviet RevolutionFrench Revolution/Staci police state. And the GOPe is complicit.

Just from a tactical or procedural point of view I don't think any defense of the FBI's conduct can be taken seriously. From a political/constitutional point of view it's also hard to defend.

I can't help thinking that the "Trump flushed documents down the toilet" of a day or so back was leaked (or invented) to generate public suspicion and justify the raid in the eyes of NeverTrumpers.

Carl Sagan's prophecy shows up in a response tweet and is worth reading.

There isn’t one.

That "but her emails" trope is getting so tiresome. Yes, her damn emails! She should be in jail, as a regular citizen would be. Thousands of emails, each one a felony, and no accountability. And a secret f'g server!

Also, I seem to remember FBI files appearing and disappearing in the 90's!

Here is the problem: this is banana republic stuff. It is harassment of Trump, the former president, who poses a threat to the uniparty regime.

How can anyone take this seriously after Sandy Berger (he did plead guilty to a misdemeanor) stuffed classified material down his pants at the National Archives (remember that?) and Hillary Clinton's goons beat the crap out of her laptop (or was it a Blackberry?) with a hammer. 30,000 emails--poof!

They'll throw Trump into jail if they can.

Disgusting.

Chuck Schumer in January, 2017 on Rachael Maddow: “You take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you, so even for a practical, supposedly hard-nosed businessman [like Trump], he’s being really dumb to do this.”

The pass was telegraphed. If you're surprised something like this would happen, you haven't been paying attention. They TOLD YOU IT WOULD HAPPEN.

My feelings this morning aren't "Oh my God, how could they do this?", rather they are "Oh...ok...it's finally here".

There is a reason the United States didn't have an FBI until the mid-20th century. Now we know why.

If you are going to kill the King, kill the King.

Trump will be indicted and convicted in DC. No doubt in my mind.

The charges will be both for January 6 and removing these "important" documents.

DeSantis will win and then pardon Trump. Trump will be either SecDef, SecState or Amb to China.

Except that if any documents were held by Trump, wherever he might have been, while he was president, then anything he has that was classified is by implication de-classified by his retaining them. Presidents are not bound by classification rules as others are. They are The Executive.

Most likely an attempt to get Trump to declare his intent to run again before the midterms. It’s the only thing that can save the Dem’s bacon.

As for Hillary, wasn’t it the FBI who determined that she did commit felonies but that it was OK because she didn’t intend to? It was never clear to me who exactly gave the FBI the authority to make that decision. Wouldn’t that be up to the DOJ? It seems like the FBI has been serving as the Democrats private police force ever since.

Yeah-- the FBI and the DOJ deserve a sound, sophisticated, principled defense--something like the safety of the Republic requires that we suppress the former president, Donald J. Trump (checks notes), a dangerous demagogue, as well as anyone who ever advised him. Haven't you people heard of Emmanuel Goldstein, the enemy of Oceana? Trump is sorta like Goldstein. Start the Two Minutes Hate. No slacking! We are watching!

Is that sound, sophisticated, and principled enough for you?

I was flirting with not voting, due to the support of both parties for the nazis in the Ukraine (Leaving off 'the' is a nazi thing, Russian doesn't even have articles)

I hate fucking nazis, have since, as a little boy, I was told by my mother what living under Nazi occupation was like (they starved my great grandparents to death) and now they crop up here in charge of the Just Us Department.

"I was flirting with not voting," Never do that. Always cast your vote. In person. That way nobody can steal it.

We are half way through primary season for 2022. How many independent voters, who were not really sure yet how they were going to vote, are now going to vote for the Trump-endorsed candidates? There truly are some voters who, rather than vote for a party, research each candidate carefully and make their choices based on an honest set of principles and support for the rule of law and the Constitution. This obvious politically-based raid on Trump's home just ignored all precedents on how former Presidents are treated in this country.

It would seem to me that there would be a large number of those type voters.

This is pathetic.

You have had years of lies and criminality openly displayed by our federal government and the state run media.

And you still give this regime deference and credibility and you still consume the state media and try to give them the benefit of the doubt.

At some point you are going to have to admit the left/democrats/GOPe regime are what they are.

I'm hoping there is a huge emotional anti-FBI/DOJ vote turnout that punishes Democrats this mid-term. It would serve them right for how they've behaved, and it would be a good object lesson in what happens to a party that abandons the principles that allow for peaceful political coexistence in this country.

Attorney General Merrick Garland approved an FBI raid on the former president who personally revoked his nomination for the Supreme Court when he won the presidency.

Read that sentence a couple of times.

Either I got there late or I went to the wrong place, because the comments I found weren't so extreme. But on other Twitter threads I did notice many people who are convinced that Trump is the worst person ever and has to be guilty of something, though they're not exactly sure of what. They also ignore all the garbage the FBI has put us through in recent years and say that the DOJ must have had reason for the raid. But they have at least come to think Nixon wasn't so bad after all.

Because part of the kink for them is letting us know that they have no respect for us.

Which is most effectively achieved by acting in ways that show they dont' give a shit about legitimacy.

See: Fulton County GA Democrat election officials announcing that they're shutting down for the night, kicking out the press and poll watchers, and then immediately going back to "counting votes".

See also the "GOP" Sec of State defending them, rather than attacking them, for this blatant violation of election rules.

They think there is nothing we can do to hurt them, no matter how hard they push us

Answer:
Hunter Biden's laptop
Hillary Clinton's private email server full of classified emails she shared with Putin and the CCP
Jeffery Epstein's notebook full of pedophiles
Comey taking home classified documents to use to push the Russia collusion hoax

Question: Name four things that are "above the law" in a Democrat Administration

What we know about Donald Trump and Southern District of Florida Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart, who signed the Palm Beach search warrant, is that both have had contact with Jeffrey Epstein. Reinhart represented Epstein associates in court and Trump partied with Jeffrey and Gislaine at Mar-a-Lago - at the very least. But there are tales about Trump riding the Lolita Express and possibly, according to court accusations (conveniently withdrawn at the last minute before the 2016 election), of raping one of Epstein's underage young ladies.
