Here are 8 TikToks to delight or vex you. Let me know what you think.

 1. "Ever since I was told that corn was real, it tasted good."

2. Yes, there is a burger bra. The question is what to wear with it.

3. For the European person — the coolest places in America.

4. Mr. Jeff's Musical Gizmos is open.

5. Do you know the song my recently departed mother loved?

6. Getting searched at the San Francisco airport. (This can't be real, can it?)

7. Approaching the volcano in Iceland.

8. Glen Campbell and Leon Russell play "Jambalaya."

A friend of mine in HS(70s) was a pretty good guitar player and we asked him who he thought was the best guitarist in the world. Without hesitation he said Glen Campbell. We all chuckled. Yeh sure, the Rhinestone Cowboy is better than Clapton, Page, Hendrix et al. Videos I’ve seen since then, including this one, tells me he was right

RE: #6, is that a TSA search or an invitation to spread monkey pox?

Glen Campbell with Leon Russell singing "Jambalaya".

I didn't get a chance to review the others, cuz I can't stop playing Jambalaya.

Pure Americana.

How Great Thou Art was my mother's favorite song, too and we sing it to remember her.

1. was overly cute. 3. was just bad. But 8. was 2:35 that I was happy to spend.

#5 for me - it’s personal. Before I clicked on it, I thought of my mom. When I started watching I couldn’t believe the song was How Great Thou Art. My mom’s favorite. She played it on the piano all the time. I think of her every time I hear it, so it teared me up just a little. Mom saying hi through Althouse Tik Toks.

After that, the corn kid and Jambalaya. The burger bra started out okay but she became annoying.

"3. was just bad."

It was funny badness, but if it doesn't hit you as funny, then, yes, it's just bad.

I like Leon and Glen. Pros.

Hands down: Jambalaya
Wonderful rendition.

5 How Great thou Art

I have a personal view of life and the hereafter as many do. I think many of us will be surprised to see what we are judged on. The time we spent playing a song for a random stranger who just lost his mother will count for far more than what we may think is important.

Glenn Campbell and Leon Russell win. Just because both were so good at what they did. Campbell was an amazing guitarist.

Close second was the volcano because Nature always finishes strong.

Honorable mention to the TSA at SFO airport. I've flown in and out of there numerous times and never 'got that loving feeling'. It was pretty funny.

Glen and Leon, making me hungry.

“Corn” is the best TikTok ever.

Son of a gun, it's Jambalaya. I would love to see these guys give Rose of San Atone a similar treatment.

Corn was amazing. That kid is a prodigy. I'm always happy to see video of Glen Campbell and/or Leon Russell.

Jambo!

#6. I was flying out of the Omaha airport and got the same treatment. I couldn’t believe it! I howled!

I asked the TSA guy if it would make any difference if I told him I was a judge. He said no.

The kid playing the organ - big deal. Thankfully there are still keyboard kids who choose the organ. (So maybe it IS a big deal.) - Jamie the lifelong church choir member

Glen Campbell - I am sad now... My dad used to burst into song periodically: "I am a lineman for the county..." and that will always be childhood for me.

Jambalaya and corn and the rather odd burger girl.

@tcrosse, "San Atone" made me laugh.

Corn boy...imagine tackling that cob with such gusto in spite of the missing front tooth. He was definitely a charmer. With How Great Thou Art, I reflected on what a gift it is to be able to read and "speak" music...it really is a universal language.

Glen and Leon. I love Leon and learned a lot about Glen Campbell’s musicianship by listening to Dwight Yoakam’s Bakersfield show on Sirius FM.

I think the European guy is actually how most European’s view the US. Never have so many known so little about so much. And were so sure they were right.

Glen and Leon then the corn boy. Did you know one of Glen’s best friends was Alice Cooper?

Susan in Seattle said...

The boy with the corn was charming but the Glen and Leon duet was my favorite.

Re TSA searches at SFO: been there. Happened last June as I was on my way to St. Croix. I was pulled out of line for an additional pat down, and never told why. The agents kept focusing on my hip area, and I kept telling them that I had an artificial hip. I was kept waiting so long that I almost missed my flight.
