I've got 6 TikTok selections today. Let me know which ones you like.

1. Making "breakfast coffee" — from the 1950s — involves egg whites.

2. What meaning can a 3-year-old find in the song "Under the Bridge"?

3. A fly breaking up with a fly.

4. Peter Doocy saying goodbye to Jen Psaki.

5. A lesson in awful restaurant conversation.

5. What are the guys in the office getting their mother for Mother's Day? (There's a clear winner.)

6. A mother remembers.

I vaguely recall a chicken consomme recipe where you put an egg white in for the same reason -- to draw out impurities in the broth. I've never had Caffe Svenska, but now I feel a need to try.
The awful restaurant conversation was my favorite. I've been in a restaurant with such a person. It's not fun, but hilarious.

Swedish coffee was the most interesting, because it was the most surprising. It's the one I watched twice.

Breakfast coffee:
The white of half an egg.

...I cut the egg in half, but I'm having a bit of trouble separating the white from the yolk...

Doocy should have asked her to circle back and see them sometime.

What's with number 6 - again. Didnt we see something like this before? Do you know if the ladies featured in these vignetes had given permissions for their dementia, ALtzimers, or senilities to be viewed to millions of strangers? If it was me, I would be pissed (if I had any sense, but I wouldn't, having to depend on the thoughtfulness of others).

Our oldest used to request "Otherside" from The Red Hot Chili Peppers when she was 2 or 3 year's old. It, along with most of the songs on the album, which came out when she was 2, was very catchy. We didn't think too deeply about it.

In fairness, Oliver probably didn't think too deeply about it, except to come up with a bit. I like the guys in the office getting gifts for Mother's day, except for the weird fake voice in it--a problem shared by the guy who does the dad-fails.

Steve Martin employs a similar coffee making technique in Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid

Lots of people still make coffee that way in Puerto Rico. I use Kgcups now but used to myself.

You can still buy the filter, a6"long cloth "sock" on a wire frame anywhere you can buy coffee.

I've always heard an eggshell helps but never seen it. Never heard of egg whites. Guessing it is needed with a mesh screen but not with the cloth filter.

The mother remembers wins for me. There is such unfiltered emotion. People forget almost everything, but remember love.

Having switched to a percolator in the past year or so, I don't see why I wouldn't go back a step further into retro and try the Swedish coffee! Though maybe not on a weekday morning..

When times are tight you don’t waste a white that could be eaten, you use the byproduct - the shells. That’s how Nana made coffee.

Nowadays I make cold brew coffee for my husband. It seems to be less acidic and he loves it.

Yeah- the coffee is intriguing.
1/2 an egg! Good luck, Ig is Bliss!

I personally have a difficult time watching the innocence of the dementia parents and the sadness of the daughters. Yeah, my eyes run when I watch those. Other than that, entertaining enough- the questions Oliver is asking of a 3yr old (what pain?!) is a lot like the Matt Walsh lecture I’m watching. What 5yr old can order a meal, much less know they’re transgendered?

The ticket so that mom can see her favorite child was funny, but Mom remembering was both sweet and awful at the same time. Fortunately, my daughter has her instructions if it ever comes close to this. The Beretta is in the closet, honey.

Also kudos to Doocey for being the better person.

It's the plane ticket for the sister, isn't it? I know it is.

Swedish coffee - because of the guy's enthusiasm.

dbp beat me to it, so there's no point to this TikTok thread anymore.

As moving as #6 was, I do not think that should be public. The mother lacks the ability to consent for it to be public.

My favorite was #3, with the father baffled by his tot's passion for "Under the Bridge".

That’s the way my grandma always made it, but she just added the egg white with the grounds in the percolator.

I enjoyed all except the last, which was hard to watch. My grandmother did not recognize me the last year of her life.

The only one I watched twice was the Breakfast Coffee. I'll have to give it a try.

@dbp: My buddy and I laughed and laughed at that scene in the theatre. We were the only one laughing. I later watched it on TV with my Mom. She laughed and laughed. So at least I know where I got my sense of humor. It helps if you've seen the movie clips in their original context, of course, and I had seen many of them, because a local TV station based most of their programming around 30's and 40's movies.
