People have been pushing me to listen to this or that episode of Joe Rogan — usually about vaccines — but I've felt resistant. Just wasn't up for it.

But then I saw the new episode was Carrot Top and I eagerly clicked and listened:

How can I explain my mood? I'm tired of hearing details about coronavirus and, more generally, pop culture debate about science topics that I'm not going to study with any expertise. And Carrot Top seemed like the perfect contrast to all that. A random celebrity that I knew but didn't care about. Is it just lockdown fatigue? Yeah, I'm tired of talking about it and hearing people angst about it. It's part of nature, so it's like talking about the weather. And it's been 2 years.

I love that Joe and Carrot Top talked about how Carrot Top has long been abused as a sort of punchline as if everyone understands him to be a bad comedian. No one knows what it's like to be hated — to be fated — to telling only prop jokes:

"It's like Nickelback...."

Gallagher?

He's not retiring, but he must abandon the giant watermelon sledgehammer. Doctor's orders.

There's an inscription above the gateway from comedic mediocrity to geriatric comedic mediocrity. It reads, Abandon Squish, All Ye Who Enter Here.

Would that he because all the policies and pronouncements of your Democrats, have been wrong? Didn’t liberals once talk about how important it as for the voters to be educated on the issues?

Me too. I LOLd when the Nickleback reference came up. So true.

The story about the Family Guy thing told the tale about the relationship between the artist and his public representation in media. The problem that CT saw was a thing that only CT or another comic would see. Beside that, the animation was ALREADY DONE. Print it!

Watch the whole thing to see where Gallagher mixes into it, btw. Old Florida guys know, and old Florida guys remember.

Chairman of the Board was kind of funny, IIRC. Still I laugh at Carrot Top references.

There’s been lotsa rona wrongness in these parts but What difference, at this point, does it make?

Carrot Top looks and sounds kind of normal…for Carrot Top.

I know why you don't want to listen to those interviews with Dr Peter McCullough, an Dr Robert Malone. You can't stand the idea of accurate information about the pandemic coming from some source other than the main stream media. You also don't care about the truth. You just want to be told what to do and when to do it.

Chairman of the Board was no War and Peace with Jimmy Stuart, but Norm would have just ignored it if it didn't have something going on.

Ha! I watched both clips last night. But my dreams they aren't as empty as my conscience seems to be. That's one of my all time favorite songs. It's about the white man's burden. That's what pisses me off so much about Trumpers. All the whinging and complaining:

No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through

That is fine.

At least you admit you would rather read propaganda that doesn't make you feel bad.

The leftists are lashing out because the majority of people are not sheep.

I second Blogic’s recommendation of Kevin Disney’s extracts from the JRE interview with Dr. Malone. You learn a lot very quickly with no fluff or partisanship. That France, USA and Australia all moved to make HCQ and Ivermectin harder to acquire or prescribe right when we needed therapeutics most was most enlightening. That’s the strongest evidence of the MFP other than what we each have experienced firsthand in this “pandemic.”

I think this covers feeling sorry for CT.

But, after looking awhile at the long-tailed imp, he was so shocked by his horrible ugliness, spiritual as well as physical, that he actually began to shed tears; a weakness which men of merely delicate endowments, and destitute of the fiercer, deeper, and more tragic power of laughter, can hardly avoid, when the worst and meanest aspect of life happens to be presented to them.. - The House of Seven Gables

Never been a fan of CT and have only seen bits and pieces of his act. Meh.

Otoh he seems to have been pretty successful over a long time 35 years and counting.

Perhaps,as a comedian, even more successful than Joe rogan.

So who are we to mock him because he is not one of the Kool kids?

Ditto nickleback.

I suspect that many of us wish we could be as successful in our professional endeavors as CT and nb

Now having read ct's bio, probably quite a bit more successful than Joe Rogan overall up to rogans Spotify deal.

Maybe even including the Spotify deal

I understand, and you have no obligation to study anything.

But the fatigue itself is manufactured, and the pop culture debate skewed. When educated observers decline to study the issue with any expertise, the manipulation of pop culture and public opinion became that much easier. Holding "experts" accountable, particularly when their expertise is invoked to justify oppressive policies, is essential in maintaining a reasonably open society.

I'm glad I'm in Arizona. Except for chain stores/restaurants making their people wear (useless) masks, we're by and large back to normal. Some medical places still require everyone to wear (useless) masks, and some still do when out and about, but nothing is shutting down and no one in my circle gives two whits about the China Flu anymore.

Rogan may be the most influential person in this country. He had almost 10 million people watch a podcast te other day, with the top Fox hosts down in the 3 million range, and Rachel Madcow down in the 2 million range. Moreover, it mostly isn’t fluff, but rather involves the most critical topics in the country. Why, indeed, are we allowing our government to commit child abuse, on a national basis, that will likely scar a generation emotionally and intellectually for a generation? Think that extreme? What is the scientific or medical justification for denying them classroom learning, forcing them to mask, therefore denying them learning from facial cues, or be jabbed by an experimental gene therapy that provides them with no medical benefit whatsoever, but may kill them? Madcow focuses her attentions, instead, on the fake 1-6 “insurrection”, created, apparently, primarily by left wing computer commandos and soy bois.

Then Ann links to one of Rogan’s most important podcasts, his interview with Dr RW Malone, doesn’t listen to it (or read the transcript, which is what I did), then proudly announced yesterday that she just got a booster jab - which she likely wouldn’t have done if she had listened to and understood that Rogan interview. Many of Rogan’s interviews are on very serious topics with very serious people. Instead, she picks watching Carrot Top.

My theory is that she is experiencing the cognitive dissonance of living in far left Madison, while being exposed to the reality of the catastrophic failures of progressivism. The reality is that our government has been purchased by very rich interests, and they are allowed to exploit the American public to their own advantage, even if it kills a bunch of us, and permanently stunts the mental growth and intelligence of a generation of our youth. Exploitation of the masses by the elites is always the end result of leftist and progressive movements. They inevitably have the best of motives, but the results are the same -disastrous for the bulk of the population.

Ok, AZ is better than a lot of places, but Whole Foods is still filled with terminally hip face diaper wearers. We are up by N Snottsdale, and the incidence of mask wearing by the customers (versus the servant class) is up significantly in the last week or so. Safeway isn’t that much better than Whole Foods, and I think that the Fry’s we usually go to was almost 1/2 masked the other day, but WalMart patrons seem to be holding out just fine, even at the one in N Snottsdale.

Went to my partner’s primary care provider’s office yesterday, and went through the normal COVID-19 stuff: masking, temperature taking, distancing, etc. But that doesn’t really bother me. Sure, maybe we should intentionally try to get infected with Omicron, to safely and easily build natural immunities. But most medical care providers aren’t ready for that. Maybe their COVID-19 theater might, maybe, provide some health benefit. But mostly, I think, it just reduces the stress of their more impressionable and easily panicked patients. We are willing to put up with that.

Saw Carrot Top perform about 2014 or so. He's an exceptional comic. We were impressed by the pure, non-stop material, which was approximately 60 percent or more of his set. He's also very pleasant, very generous man offstage. The haters are very much like 13-year-old girls who hate what they're told to hate. He's had a residency here in Vegas for 15+ years. He delivers.

Maybe in Madison. In the free world, however, lockdowns and Rona angst ended in Spring of 2020. Here in The Villages we only see masks in medical facilities and for the first week of the snowbirds' winter migration to Florida. After the first week, even Massholes are mask free. God Bless Ron DeSantis!

What I love about Joe Rogan is how open he is as a human being. His ability to suspend judgment and get people to talk is amazing. More journalists should be like this.

Journalists have agendas different than talk show hosts, and there are good talk show hosts and poor ones. Merv, Cavett, Donohue were all good. I say Oprah, too. She always gets left out because she’s such a kook but she was fair and good on her show most of the time…

LOL

There is no "rule" around how the c word is used in Britain. And its certainly not reserved for the scenario you describe.

Tell you what, give us an example of the c word being used precisely as you describe. It shouldn't be too difficult given your exceedingly "precise" definition.

Of course, if you are using the definition of the c word as used by Brits in the same way you leftist wankers keep changing the definition of "vaccine", I can see we are headed for even choppier waters.

If you ever met me (you don't want that to happen), you would know immediately that I am anything but weak. I do complain about my golf game however.

I actually think you're a 20-something who spends all day trolling people online, at least 200 yards from any school or playground, of course.

I took a 2 hour walk today, went golfing with friends (those are people who like you fyi), had a nice lunch, and am looking forward to a great dinner and a fantastic Napa Cabernet.

It must suck to be you...
