The jarring scene of Darth Vader Cheney being warmly welcomed by the democrats on the anniversary of Jan6 is properly put in context by the most scrupulous Jounalist we have right now. Here is a small excerpt.

In a story entitled “Dick Cheney returns to the House and receives a warm welcome . . . from Democrats,” the Washington Post wrote that “Democrats put aside their fierce and lasting policy divides with the Cheneys to thank them for condemning the attack and Trump’s continued effort to undermine the 2020 presidential election results with his false claims of fraud.”

(News writing has become a pre-fab profession, like assembling IKEA furniture. All you need is an Allen wrench and a list of the latest clichés. “Trump’s efforts to undermine the 2020 election” has replaced “Trump’s efforts to coordinate with the Russian government in its election interference activities,” and “Trump’s false claims of fraud” has replaced “Trump’s false claims of ‘fake news.’” Part of the significance of January 6th is that it updated popular propaganda stock, which had grown stale.)

I don’t mean to understate the seriousness of January 6th, even though it’s been absurdly misreported for over a year now. No one from a country where these things actually happen could mistake 1/6 for “a coup .” In the real version, the mob doesn’t take selfies and blaze doobies after seizing the palace, and the would-be dictator doesn’t spend 187 minutes snacking and watching Fox before tweeting “go home.” Instead, he works the phones nonstop to rally precinct chiefs, generals, and airport officials to the cause, because a coup is a real attempt to seize power. a) It did have informants. So, who were they, what did they do, what did they say they expected on Jan 5, or Jan 4.
The fact that Pelosi told the Capitol Police to reject more Nat Guards on Jan 4 is very suspicious, but it seems neither NYT nor the Jan 6 whitewash committee are reporting on it.
Failure of the FBI to honestly state what it knew, and what its agents did (& who they were) indicates they are hiding their actions - like the guilty.

b) No FBI informants - despite many weeks of Stop the Steal, and organizing, and complaining about the stolen elections by many Trump supporters. Total incompetence.

I believe (a), not (b).
And why did the FBI do it?
a) to avoid looking at the many many irregularities of the election, especially the many mail-in ballots that were included that weren't fully documented / with signatures verified.

PLUS
b) to prove that "Trump is Hitler". For 5 years, since Trump first declared his candidacy, there has been constant dishonest claims by elites that Trump is Hitler. This thing, or that thing is fascist - he wants to take over the government.
All such accusations were false, fake, Fake, FAKE.
BUT,
if Trump is to blame for riot / out of hand no-longer peaceful protest, then it proves he really was Hitler.
Democrats who've been lying for 5 years about Trump needed Trump to be Hitler, to justify the hate they have for him, and the great feelings of moral superiority they feel by hating Hitler-Trump.
Trump Derangement Syndrome, much like Bush Derangement Syndrome (when coined), as well as Palin Derangement Syndrome (which continued some even after Obama won).

I call it Democrat Delusion Syndrome.

Deluded Democrats need "insurrection", not merely protest out of hand.
The FBI gave it to them.

Garrett James Smith, 22, was arrested and found carrying an active pipe bomb, Antifa propaganda and a written document on what to bring for his direct action. He had recently returned from Portland, Ore.

tim in vermont said...: Looking at Clyde's solution for yesterday, it's becomes pretty clear that lucky guesses play a large part in getting it in three, I got that one in three, but I can see how lucky I was. Starting with ATONE, I would have followed the same course. I just didn't think of FORGE, for one thing.

ATONE is a nice seed word because it pretty much gets all of the vowels out right away, but I still prefer SATED to get the most common vowels out of the way and the most common consonants. And I have been getting the majority in three with that strategy. SATED ruled out POISE and HORDE in that example, and tons of other common words. I guess it's a question of the value of ruling out words with common consonants vs ruling in words with common vowels.; 1/10/22, 8:05 AM

ADIEU first, burner word second, think think think…solve third is a repeatable strategy, unless the word has two or more single letter variants, in which case guessing the wrong variant leads to a fourth guess solve…or worse.

How to improve on this? Changing up the first guess might lead to fewer letter discovers, so maybe a second guess solve becomes a possibility but it also risks a higher frequency of fourth guess or more. I’m wondering if there’s a detectable pattern of the daily word, like tomorrow must be sufficiently dissimilar to today. TIMER must never follow TIGER, or such in which case mixing up the first word might lead to more frequent second guess solves…

…and there’s always the chance the word is your skeleton key but I’m not holding my breath. Speaking of holding my breath the best strategy might be the twitter guy what first guesses FARTS because the day he gets FARTS in one guess will be the most glorious day ever.

Yeah, I think that there is some kind of bias towards words with lower frequency letters, letters with higher scrabble scores, but that's just a hunch.

@Clyde, you are right of course, I am thinking that maybe I just like to get 'S' and 'D' off of the table, if possible, since they rule out most plurals, and past tense forms.
