When you all get a chance, if you haven't already, check an investigative journalism piece by online 'Revolver' Link

There is video of people (before jan6) urging peaceful protesters to converge on the capitol. But when they looked to see if the obvious instigators have been arrested, they are conspicuously missing from the judicial proceedings that have landed hundreds of people in jail.

I remember hearing in the talks shows, in the days leading up to Jan6, that it was a setup. People were saying on social media, "don't go there, it's a setup."

A string of hugely positive studies show Omicron is milder than other strains, with the first official UK report revealing the risk of hospitalisation is 50 to 70 per cent lower than with Delta.

NSW health officials this week said Omicron appeared to be up to five times less likely to cause severe illness than Delta.

Covid booster jabs protect against Omicron and offer the best chance to get through the pandemic, health officials have repeatedly said.

Omi-gone

South African scientists are confident the Omicron outbreak there is receding and may last a total of just a couple of months.

Omicron will soon be ‘pretty much gone’ in nation where it was discovered - Daily Telegraph - Australia

Here's hoping...

It's still possible that if the variant is 20% as virulent, but infects 5 times as many people, it could be a very bad couple of months, but it think it's very possible that large numbers of people who had it never bothered getting tested, since the curve doesn't make any sense any other way. Why would the logistical curve start to fall prior to burning through the susceptible population? The only explanation that suggests itself is that people aren't bothering with the tests.

Either way, ready or not, here it comes.

BTW, the Russian Flu in the 19th Century is thought to have been a deadly coronavirus pandemic that converted to another strain of the common cold. Obviously, gene sequencing did not exist then, so that's only a theory.

White Christmas in Bellevue, WA today. Enough snow to cover, kind of, the grass. Still counts as a snow day, which is really rare in the Western Washington low lands.

C19 boosters Uber Alles in the UK?: Protection against getting sick with Omicron declines to as low as 35% 10 weeks after a booster, according to Government data. The solution? A fourth jab

Covid testing kits are widely available here in SWFL, I assume because nobody here cares even though our population is largely elderly snow birds and retirees from deep blue states this time of year. As it is with all things, watch what the really rich and powerful people do, and do the opposite of what they say.

Haven't heard much about Sweden in the media lately so I decided to look up how they are doing compared to the rest of Europe.

They are now in the bottom half of European countries in terms of covid deaths per 100,000 population. And 40% better than the U.S.

No lockdowns, school closings, business closings, etc and doing better than most of their European neighbors. And doing very well so far with Omicron. They took the novel strategy of giving people honest information and trusting them to do the right thing.

Sweden just did markedly worse than their closest and most similar neighbors.

Tl;dr? Lot's of COVID, only the unvaccinated were really sick from it.

Sadly, this story came out only after Time magazine had chosen its "Person of the Year":
