rehajm said...: I drove past the Port of Charleston yesterday. Three or four full container ships at dock. The terminals have containers stacked seven and eight high everywhere. It looks like there’s no place to put anymore. The auto lot is full of BMW suvs- definitely not a place to park one more.

I’ll have to drive to Savannah later in the week. Rumor has it theres no more room for ships in port so they are stacked up offshore.; 10/13/21, 5:20 AM

Owen said...: We are short about 60,000 truck drivers. Those are the guys who move the containers around. They drive the full ones from the docks and they return the empty ones. They aren’t able to keep up. It was already bad before Covid ever happened. The shutdown made it harder. The vaccine mandate is making it worse: truckers are reportedly avoiding cities and ports where they might be subject to sanctions if they aren’t vaccinated. This is third-hand rumor but it seems directionally plausible. How do we learn more? Certainly not from the MSM: not, at least, until the supply crunch becomes critical.
