"But if you think about it, I really did pretty much the opposite of whatever he said."

Said Trump, about Anthony Fauci, quoted at The Hill, in a piece with a headline about Trump's answer to the question what would stop him from running for President.

In case you're itching to know his answer to the somewhat creatively phrased question, it was: "I guess a bad call from a doctor or something, right? Things happen, through God, they happen. But I feel so good."

The inconvenient point to Trump, who wants to disavow Fauci, and to Fauci, who is happy to be portrayed as the guy who bravely stood up to Trump under terrible abuse, is that Trump did pretty much exactly as Fauci, Birx and others said at least through the early months. (On the domestic front, anyway; I can well believe shutting down travel from China and other countries was his idea, implemented over objections.)

Once there was obviously daylight between them, Trump didn't fire him because the political blowback would have been too strong; and he could only ignore him so much because he didn't want him resigning and playing the Brave Resistance Hero. It might have been smart politics, but it smudges the self-portrait a bit.

I'll give Trump his due on a lot of issues, but his shit-talk about one subordinate after another after another is just really tiresome. Wish he'd come out and announce: I've been thinking about it and I really am a terrible judge of character and competence. The worst! I absolutely suck at picking people, at least if you take anything I say at face value.

Fauchi really did pretty much the opposite of whatever he said, too...

Fauci funded the gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab. And he’s still employed and liberals think he is a saint.

Here is a fact-based review of the complicated relationship between Trump and Fauci. As usual, Trump’s narrative of the moment serves only the immediate needs of his narcissistic personality disorder. Trump is unhinged from historical facts and even reality.

Along the way, almost every natural Trump instinct was wrong. To undersell the emergency; to personally resist masks; to dabble in hydroxychloroquine; to predict vaccines by election day. And in fact, on those things, where Trump and Fauci did disagree, Trump was wrong.

Trump didn't do the opposite enough.

The lock down Nazi's have created a generation of children with exploding rates of type 2 diabetes.

Thousands of people are dying from treatable diseases like cancer because there are almost no screenings being done.

Wearing a cloth mask on your face is just fucking stupid. The only situation it helps is if you are symptomatic and you want to reduce the amount of liquid droplets you disperse. In that situation you should stay at home. For any airborne virus a cloth mask is as effective as a chain link fence. The relative size of a virus just makes it obviously stupid. But most people are ignorant of actual particulate sizes and think a cloth mask does some good for that purpose out of ignorance.

And if COVID is actually the pandemic these people claim it is then their should be a 10 billion dollar bounty on XI Jingping's head.

Another million for every member of the Chinese Communist party.

If COVID killed millions of people that blood in on their hands.

That there isn't any outcry against China and the enemies of the Biden admin are unvaccinated Americans tells you everything you need to know about the aristocracy.

If you are vaccinated what do you have to fear?

Freedom is what they really fear and are enemies of.

I wonder if Trump has learned anything since he's been out of the White House.
I watched his interview with Gutfeld and thought he came across as thoughtful, funny and reasonable. That's the Trump I like, not the late night tweeting raging victim woe is me lunatic. I hope he's learned but I'm doubtful.

Any Republican who runs will be attacked as Trump was unless he does a rhino. So it should be Trump and damn the torpedoes.

Good line, but Fauci changed his mind so often that it was hard to tell what the opposite of his opinion would be.

Trump's problem was that he didn't know how to handle Fauci or how to get rid of him. President Trump didn't have his own trusted team of experts to replace people like Fauci and he didn't know how to outmaneuver officials who had devoted themselves to undermining him. Trump got things right, but didn't know what to do when people in the authority lied to us.

Also, Trump's great campaign strength was rallying supporters. He needed to pivot and develop skills in debate that he didn't already have. He played to his base when he needed to convince the undecided and skeptics. The currently favored strategy of politicians in both parties -- rallying the base -- wouldn't work when some of the Republican base had turned against Trump and some people who'd been drawn to him in 2016 were lukewarm or apathetic in 2020.

So true.

In fact, as pro-marxist LLR Chuck has proven over the last 6 years, ANYONE who stands up to Chuck's beloved democraticals will be labeled not just Trump, but also a Nazi and all the rest.

then the way people handle their face diapers would assure there is nobody left who hasn't been infected.

BTW... why aren't these diapers being treated as a biohazard? Does just dropping them in the parking lot really work to eradicate the virus?

You got the quote wrong. "Show me the man and I'll find you the crime"

Trolling has devolved into bad school yard taunts of 3rd graders.

If anything, Trump has been too deferemtial to Faucian unregulated "vaccines".
He acquired nat immunity with Regeneron assist but still went on to claim/promote receiving jab.
