"I remember in my childhood, when we argued in the courtyard, we used to say: it takes one to know one. That’s not … just a children’s saying or joke."

"We always see our own traits in other people and think they are like how we really are. And as a result we assess [a person’s] activities and give assessments."

Said Vladimir Putin, quoted in "'Takes one to know one': Putin-Biden spat escalates after 'killer' accusation/Officials in Moscow go on offensive after Biden says Russian president will pay price for election meddling" (The Guardian).

Putin added, ominously: "I would tell him: Be healthy. I wish him good health. I say this without irony, without joking."

Did everyone see what Biden did after he drug himself to his feet on the steps of AF-1? He checked the crease in his pants. (Hat tip David Brooks)

LOL.

Everyone I know that whacks their shin when they fall ignores the pain and checks their pant crease instead.

From a Russian speaker perspective - he did not say it ominously at all. No weird pause or intonation. I almost felt a hint of sadness and compassion in his intonation.

Interesting. But long observation of politicians here has convinced many of us that when a politician says "frankly" or "sincerely" or Putin's "without irony," what comes next is going to be a lie -- something the politician doesn't actually mean or feel. Also, Putin may have gotten as good at feigning feelings for his audience as Biden is for his own. I didn't see a threat in Putin's words -- I did in Biden's and Steffy's -- but I did get the feeling that Putin might be relishing some irony, playful or malicious, in his comment.

The dim bulbs who voted for dementia Joe come here and try and deflect. Of course it only accentuates their dim bulb-ishness.

I think it would be very humorous if Putin took to twitter where Trump left off.

It’s been evident for a long time that Inga the State's Handmaid has cognitive deficits as severe as or probably more so than Biden. She swallows the Hive's party lines without question, and thinks the State--the bloodiest killer and the most rapacious plunderer in History--is our best friend, and that we should give it even MORE power! How demented can you get?

Althouse is incorrect with this "ominously" business.

Biden just called him a "killer"; Putin responds almost jovially with, "In response, nah; I wish you all the good health."

This is more Pompeo-style than Blinken-style, if you know what I mean. Putin laughed off silliness and empty tough-guy rhetoric from a spavined horse like so much meaningless twaddle. There was nothing ominous there, as is clear when one watches the clip. The Blinken-Biden style response would've been to get all tweezily angry and mutter some counter-insult in a spiteful tone - the amateur's response.

Putin's got it all over this administration. Say what you will but the Trump team could snap towel in the locker room with the big boys as good as any of them; Biden's team is hiding in the girls' room - and it's going to be a long four years.

Of course it's possible, and understandable, too greatly dislike Biden.

Like the Notorious RBG, Biden could have retired quite some time ago, and lived very comfortably on the (in his case) ill-gotten gains of a lifetime in elective office. But noooooooo, keeping his hands on the levers of power was just to attractive. So yes, he's despicable for not bowing out when he had mental capacity to make that decision, and of course his handlers now are equally despicable.
