We received our Hydraulic Practices Permit from the State of Washington. They've approved our plans to repair and replace the bridge across our stream. Some of the text from the permit:

4. NOTIFICATION: You, your agent, or contractor must contact the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife by email at HPAapplications@dfw.wa.gov; mail to Post Office Box 43234, Olympia, Washington 98504-3234; or fax to (360) 902-2946 at least three business days before starting work. The notification must include the permittee's name, project
location, starting date, and the Hydraulic Project Approval permit number.

5. PHOTOGRAPHS: You, your agent, or contractor must take photographs of the job site before the work begins and after the work is completed. You must upload the photographs to the post-permit requirement page in the Aquatic Protection Permitting System (APPS) or mail them to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife at Post Office Box 43234, Olympia, Washington 98504-3234 within 30-days after the work is completed.

6. FISH KILL/ WATER QUALITY PROBLEM NOTIFICATION: If a fish kill occurs or fish are observed in distress at the job site, immediately stop all activities causing harm. ...

[There are no fish in that stream]

The permit goes on for five pages.

Now all we have to do is wait for the County to do its Quality Assurance step. Maybe mid-April.

DM, this evening:

Federal judge issues scathing dissent accusing the media of liberal bias and being a 'Democratic Party trumpet' while calling for 1964 Supreme Court landmark decision protecting the press to be overturned

D.C. Circuit Judge Laurence Silberman penned a scathing dissent Friday on a defamation case
The Reagan-appointed judge slammed the 1964 New York Times v. Sullivan landmark decision requiring plaintiffs to prove 'actual malice' by defendants

Silberman claimed the ruling has only increased the power of the press, which is almost completely controlled by the Democratic Party

'Two of the three most influential papers, The New York Times and The Washington Post, are virtually Democratic Party broadsheets,' he wrote

He named Fox News, The New York Post, and The Wall Street Journal as the 'few notable exceptions to Democratic Party ideological control'

"...The 85-year-old judge criticized the legal precedent in his dissent for increasing the power of the media, something he described as 'so dangerous', 'because we are very close to one-party control of these institutions.'

He then went on to launch an attack on media organizations as well as Silicon Valley, which he claims is responsible for the increasingly anti-conservative bias in the news."

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9382047/Federal-judge-issues-scathing-dissent-accusing-media-liberal-bias.html

Silberman finally gets this off his chest before he croaks.

Falling up. The symbolism is kind of obvious, particularly the three attempts. I think Biden ran for President three times. Obama chose him for VP because Biden was past his sell by date and his nonentity status would neither offend nor threaten anybody. Then twelve years later Biden became President. This is the most spectacular example of falling up in recorded history....I guess you can also say that Trump's difficulty in negotiating the downward pull of gravity on the off ramp was also somewhat symbolic.

I finished "The Dawlish Chronicles: Britannia's Innocent" and am a couple pages into the next in the 9 book series "Britannia's Wolf".

Nicholas Dawlish is a RN midshipman. The time is 1863. The confederate States of America have purchased a warship from Britain to range the seas as a commerce raider like the CSS Alabama. (In Britannia's Innocent)

Germany and Denmark are at war over Schleswig & Holstein provinces. The Prince of wales, married to a Danish princess takes over the ship, hires a rag tag crew who pretend to be Danes and support the Danish army via shore bombardment. The deal is that CSA gets the ship back after 60 days. Adventure and a riproaring good yarn ensue.

One of the problems with historical fiction is that authors take liberties with facts for the purpose of the story. Since I often know the actual story, this can sometimes bug me a bit. I had just barely heard of this war, much less know anything at all about it. The author could make up events from whole cloth. Since I would not know the difference, I can't be annoyed.

In this book the author seems to know what he is talking about and it is an all but perfectly entertaining story. The only thing negative is the use of "All but..." as in all but dead, all but exhausted and so on. I never like that phrasing but can live with it's occasional use. A word search turned up over 50 instances and the book is not all that long. It drove me nuts.

Other than that, perfect.

I don't know anything about the Turkey-Bulgaria war either so will not be annoyed by any liberties in Britannia's Wolf.

You can buy the series via the portal or, if you have an unlimited program, read them for free. (Sorry Ann)

So what is everyone else reading?

I thought Conan Doyle came up with a pretty clever solution in The White Company. Since the events of the time were well known, you would think that Sir Nigel, the central heroic figure in the tale (though not the protagonist of the book) could not do anything of historic significance. Instead Doyle has him come up with a grand scheme to raid the Spanish camp and kidnap King Pedro the Cruel for ransom -- and he and his band succeed! ... Sort of.

It turns out that since none of the English actually knew what Pedro looked like (no photos..) they kidnapped a decoy. So, it was still an audicious and thrilling adventure and they still got a handsome ransom, but it wasn't a big enough deal to upset the recorded history the war.

A question I’ve asked quite frequently, but people seem reluctant to answer:

How far will the Democrats take this Hate Whitey campaign?

Since we took away their slave status in 1865 Democrats ever since then have been trying to eliminate or get rid of blacks in the USA. Their biggest success so far has been the continuous murder of unborn black children at Planned Parenthood centers, just as the racist Margaret Sanger, Democrat heroine, preached should be done. And she would be extremely pleased a=with Iceland right now for doing what stephen cooper pointed out.

So, how to get rid of them? That's the big question. As long as the majority of non-black American's believes in E Pluribus Unum, they really can't. So they've been mightily striving to develop a split America setting every possible ethnic group they can define against every other. The ore the better- and set up discriminatory systems so they seethe underneath with rage. Racial setasides for one. Discriminatory college admissions, guaranteed right now to rile up the Asian subset of our population against blacks. Telling Hispanics they're not white, when most easily identify as such- if they choose to identify racially rather than nationally as Americans.

Where they are succeeding is convincing blacks that they're permanent underdogs, and they need to fight the whites to gain power. Every Democrat black run city is a disaster- and Democrats are successful in convincing the residents it's the fault of everyone except them. In my life, except for the occasional crazy like Manson, every single prominent personality calling for race war has been black. A lot of blacks think they're the majority in the USA- because they live in black majority cities. The moment a black run city openly starts war on it's white residents- well, blacks are only 12% of the population in the USA. Within a week to 10 days, they'll be less than 5%. Asians aren't going to help them, and Hispanics are really white.

Where are blacks concentrated? in major cities. Where are rich white liberal whites concentrated? In major cities. There are a lot of people wargaming civil war. Many feel it's simply a matter of "when", and which side actually starts it, what the spark will be. I'm still at the "if" stage. If it does start, you WILL have to pick a side. There will be no neutrals, for there will be no front lines as there were during the great unpleasantness of the 1860s. The flag/general officers who are being vetted for political loyalty will discover they don't really control the pointy end of the spear.

I lived in NJ for most of my life and never knew that there were indian reservations there. As it turns out, there are about a half dozen. But they don't fit your expectations as to what a "reservation" is. I mean, like people actually living there. Or going to school there.

In fact they are more social and culturally oriented organizations. Not really very different from the Sons of Italy, which incidentally has great hoagie sales once a month.

Any native Americans living in NJ were assimilated into the culture generations ago and are fully mainstreamed. In fact I know two people with real American Indian heritage. One is my brother in law, who is 1/16th Cherokee. He is a retired state trooper. His sons are an MD and an FBI agent. The other was the VP of Manufacturing for a Fortune 500 company that I worked for.

So a 19 year old member of what is essentially a social and cultural organization and has a little of the right DNA, and is at no significant risk for serious illness or death, can get vaccinated this afternoon in NJ, but a 64 year old cannot.

Explain the "science" behind that to me.

The address is 5272 200th St, Sibley IA. Say hello to Anthony L. Nunes, Jr, wife. Toni Dian and son Anthony III. Ask for copies of USDL Foreign Labor Certifications, and payroll taxes paid in.

This information was not provided by Devin Nunes in his lawsuit against Esquire so the Iowa judge threw out yet another Nunes lawsuit.

Rt41Rebel - you make some good points.
It is impossible to figure these things out from what we post on the internet, bit IRL I am like one of those old people, usually very old, who seem fairly happy in life because our faith is strong, our faith that God loves us is not an act, it is just who we are and have been for (in my case) a very long time.

I know what a blessing it is to have that sort of faith, which is so strong, but it does not mean that I do not feel just as bad as anyone else would to see my loved ones suffering from a lack of faith.

I'm talking how many "migrant" children you are bringing to Gadstead..your house.
Be patient with them since there appears to be a high rape quotient in the journey.

Maybe you'd prefer to take in an adult on the terrorist watch list.
