The Trump lawyers' "Fight" montage is devastating and — if you're not bent on getting Trump convicted — hilarious.

Maybe this cheerful, rousing song with cheer up Trump haters:

Sorry to be of the “nothing is funny” mindset...

But, BLM and Antifa, the Dems’ paramilitary forces, torched and looted NYC twice last summer. That’s two hours away from me.

WaPo threatened a resumption of the paramilitary violence this morning unless Trump is convicted.

The Hate Whitey thing is spinning out of control. I’m not going to be in this world much longer, but I’m afraid for my grandkids.

I envision a future in which the Democrats endorse South African style home invasions of prosperous whites, seizure of their property and the rape and murder of whites who resist or get in the way.

The Democrats’ paramilitary forces are unleashed in the run-up to every electoral cycle. Do you have any doubt that they will do the same the next electoral cycle?

When the Democrats say they will fight, they mean committing their storm troopers, BLM and Antifa, to the streets. This nightmare is only going to get worse. The Democrats’ fears that Republicans and the right in general will organize their own paramilitary forces in defense are well founded.

Saw that "Fight" montage yesterday and had a good laugh, of the cynical variety. As much as I dislike and distrust the Democrats I know they are not stupid. In fact, the party leadership have proven themselves to be quite shrewd politically. Thus I'm struggling to understand the purpose of the impeachment and their apparent failure to anticipate this counterpunch. The only thing that makes sense is that they believe the American public is not paying close attention, that they will not see this video in the mainstream press, and so the electoral well is poisoned for Trump. He'll be able to run again in 2024 but the Democrats will spread the lie that he incited the Insurrection in 2021. All their behaviors and support for the BLM and Antifa riots in 2020 will be ignored, forgotten, or explained away.

If you assume that Trump is guilty, then they have presented all of the evidence that you should need. Demonstrating what seems to us like obvious double standards to partisan Democrats like Inag is pointless though. People like her don’t care. Every authoritarian government ever has seized. and consolidated power by painting their opposition as especially wicked and dangerous, and Biden is the puppet figurehead for a regime that is especially good at this technique.

I am beginning to wonder if the German people didn’t really eat up all of the propaganda they were fed and maybe they waited eagerly for it everyday, like loyal viewers of CNN and MSNBC and readers of the New York Times and Washington Post do today.

"The argument should be that it's how language is used. “

I think that is the argument they are making. “Bringing the cavalry” is obviously a dead metaphor. Nobody associates it with horses and sabers anymore, even if you refuse to accept that this internet nobody was trying to make a pun and write something memorable on Twitter because nobody ever does stuff like that. They could have brought her in under oath or deposed her to get at the heart of what this “Calvary” was, but it’s better just to assume her guilt, then tweak the tweet just a little to help matters along, and bingo! You have proven your case!

There is a joke that climate science and economics are the two areas where a proof begins “Assuming that,” well Democrat show trials are a third. When Fredo went after Glenn Reynolds yesterday as an apologist for genocide, the only way you could follow his argument is if you went into it, like Fredo did, assuming that Reynolds was a crypto apologist for genocide. Of course crypto Nazis are cagey with language, they will *never* openly say what they mean!

Nobody can write carefully enough that a determined foe won’t be able to build a case against them built on the assumption of their guilt.

Cheerful Trump hater here. Found the video trite and way to long.

Sure there are lots of democrat jerks. They're all politicians.

Any one of them yelling fight, fight, fight to a seething mob they have summoned to 1000 yards from the target of their rage, said mob proceeding to attack, should be held accountable for the result of their act. Especially when they have been entrusted with a position that would allow them to correct their mistake.

wendybar said...

And of course, since the Democrats are just as guilty as Trump is if this is the new way to look at things, a Democrat Congresscritter has to come up and claim it the Trump team is RACIST to point it out....

“It was not lost on me”: House impeachment manager Stacey Plaskett whined. Plaskett pointed out that Trump’s attorneys showed videos of Democrats using the word “fight,” many of them were Black women and people of color.

“I thought we were past that. I think maybe we are not,” she said.

When in doubt, use the race card.

Are you sick of it yet??? Because I am. They ruined the race card, so that everytime it is used we laugh at them. Even when there could be REAL racism...nobody is going to care anymore. THEY did this. Thank them.

What Shouting Thomas said.

People live in their Bubbles, and our DC ruling class and other "elites" just keep stirring, strong in their belief that they can control the whirlwinds they form and release. They give zero f@#!s about this country and the great unwashed who populate it. My sister (worked in Columbus, GA and lives just across the state line in Alabama) sent me this last night.

"Columbus, GA just elected a Sherriff who ran a halfway house for kids. He was reported for allowing/assigning a known sexual predator to a room where an autistic, non verbal kid slept. The social worker reported the kid was being sexually assaulted. So this asswipe took the kid's special toy from him and stripped him naked in front of the other kids. While this kid was curled up on the floor freaking out, he told the other kids "this is what will happen to you if you tell". Now one kid was smart enough to video it and tell his social worker, who took this to the associate DA -- who buried the paperwork. Both kids were removed from the house, and it was closed down. So the idiots here ... elected the asswipe as Sherriff and elected the associate as the new DA. Everyone is afraid to speak up. They showed all of this before the election and those who brought attention to it received death threats. One DA killed himself in his office... shot himself with no letter, nothing. He was a strong believer in getting both of those guys...

No wonder there are over 30 gangs in Killumbus with 13 murders so far already this year."

This is what is going on in pockets all over this country, while Biden and company fiddle. And stir.

My two favorite comments about it:

1- Many many commentators saying it was ridiculous because those times "fight" was used was different. Why? Because no violence broke out at Elizabeth Warren rallies.

2- The House Manager who said, "Oh, did anybody notice how they just happened to use women of color in that montage? Why do you think they singled out women of color, the most vulnerable group in the country? How interesting" because Maxine Waters, Kamala Harris, and Stacy Abrams were featured. All incredibly powerful people in our country.

All of the arguments that Trump is guilty depend on your previous belief that Trump is guilty and that Trump supporters are dangerous. Despite the fact that huge Trump crowds had been gathering throughout the campaign and afterwards and never turned violent.

Any one of them yelling fight, fight, fight to a seething mob they have summoned to 1000 yards from the target of their rage, said mob proceeding to attack, should be held accountable for the result of their act. Especially when they have been entrusted with a position that would allow them to correct their mistake.

Except Kamala Harris, of course, who provided material support to rioters who were burning small businesses in Minneapolis already devastated by the pandemic, small businesses who found out that their insurance didn’t cover the damage. No need to impeach her!

What ‘jim’ wrote is an example of rhetoric. Rhetoric is language that sounds like logic, but it isn’t. Jim believes it to be logic anyway. Read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance for a peak at the way liberals believe that rhetoric should outweigh logic. That book was about Zen and the concept of Zen in it was that you should believe your first instinct, and when you apply logic, you introduce mistakes (Sophists vs the Empiricists) The book said that the wrong side won the debate.

The problem with this of course is the problem of “inception.” It’s possible to get past people’s conscious defenses and plant ideas in their subconscious through propaganda so if a person trusts his subconscious as a source of “pure” truth, say he. considers himself a “visual thinker,” he’s got a problem and he is limited to regurgitating the crap he’s been fed by the people who control the content of the TV shows he sees, the movies he sees, the people controlling those news stories that keep pinging his phone all day with “notifications” of the latest heinous thing that Trump did.

This single video will never overcome the firehose of propaganda aimed into the homes of people like jim who will cheerfully wolf it down like a Labrador at his bowl.

tim in vermont said...

Emerson is like a difficult crossword that ultimately has no meaning aside from the pleasure of solving it.

One argument that Ted Cruz noted was absent from the Democrats was where the line is now between incitement and free speech. The House Managers case puts a very low bar. I know the Senate won’t convict Trump, but it is dangerous for this country that so many politicians are taking away the means to have peaceful debate and change while they replace it with violence and retribution.

I could find humor in the montage if it wasn’t in the setting to claim hundreds of Americans are insurrectionist for doing what the Democrat party incited them to do.

MayBee said...

Any one of them yelling fight, fight, fight to a seething mob they have summoned to 1000 yards from the target of their rage,

Is this a new standard, then? Because we've had protests at the Capitol before. Lots of them. Remember Nancy promenading through the Tea Party Protests at the Capitol with her giant gavel on the day of the Obamacare vote? Remember Chuck Schumer on the steps of the Supreme Court building? Remember the throngs accosting senators during the Kavanaugh hearings? Remember the "Resistance" and "Women's March" people at the Capitol?
Do you remember the Code Pink protestor holding up bloody hands in Condoleeza Rice's face as she testified to Congress?

So when did not protesting angrily near the large of their rage become the standard?

Meh. This a strawman. Nobody that isn't already in the bag for Trump is going to find this very pursuasive.

The problem wasn't that Trump said the word "fight." The problem is Trump spread dangerous lies for months. I believe an apt analogy would be that time when you and your buddy--we'll call him "Rudy"--spent months teasing your neighbor about how his wife is cheating on him.

You let Rudy take the stage first. He tells your neighbor how good your wife's boss fucks her. "His dick is huge. He can basically tie it in a knot. And you wife Cannot. Get. Enough. Sometimes your wife's boss brings over a few friends and they all fuck your wife and laugh about how small your dick is. Are your kids even your own? You should have a trial by combat to find out if your kids are your own. I saw that on Game of Thrones once and I thought it was really neat."

Then you grab the baton. "Great points, Rudy. Rudy is a really smart guy. Tremendous. If you want to save your marriage you are going to have to fight like hell. You are not going to have a wife anymore if you are not willing to fight. So let's march over to your wife's workplace. You know the place where your wife's boss so viscously fucks her vagina over and over and over and over again in the parking lot. Let's go to that place to peacefully tell your boss to stop fucking your wife with his 11 inch dong. Don't worry, Rudy and I will be marching right along side you!"

I think a focus on the word "fight" completely misses the point.

That last part is what this is all about. Hillary voiced mainstream Democrat opinion when she whined that conservatives and libertarians were a basket of deplorables. She was inelegant, but reflected how they think. They are not afraid of Trump. The media will continue to destroy him and law fare will be sicced on him until the day he dies. They are afraid of independent minded voters.

I am not a Donald Trump fan, but he was a good POTUS who should have stifled his desire to contest every defamatory word about him. His image was poor but it was not RINO weak. He fought the system and the Deep State showed its face to us. We know who the enemies of freedom are now..

D.D. and the Democrats take that on faith, but an impeachment trial is a trial, and the only facts that the Senate as trier of fact knows are those proven at trial. The Democrats could have gone through each of Trump’s claims of fraud and proven each was a lie and that Trump knew it was a lie. Trump’s lawyers could have cross-examined the Democrats’ witnesses and introduced their own, if they could find any. The Democrats, for whatever reason, chose not to do that, so they don’t get to argue now that Trump orchestrated a campaign of lies about the election.

To those who say Trump should be impeached for spreading "dangerous lies" about the election, they can go fuck themselves. First, it's Trump's opinion, one which is shared by many Americans. Even if Trump had accepted the result many thinking people would still rightly question the outcome.

And second, where are the calls for impeaching Schiff and other Dem liars for their ugly, divisive lies about Trump for the past four years? They knew the dossier was bullshit but spread disinformation anyway, and they've never been condemned for it by the left. This hypocrisy is tiresome and more dangerous that Trump's opinion about this election.

This was the sleaziest, most questionable election result I've seen in my lifetime. And no one should be cowed into saying otherwise. Time will likely prove that Trump would've won if not for the corruption in a handful of key swing states.

This is why the Dems leaders are so paranoid that they don't want anyone to talk about it. They know they cheated. They can propagandize it and say they just "fortified" the outcome. But they know they cheated; they know they lost. And they know we know it.

Hold on. If he was telling the truth about election fraud then why did he tell the patriots to go home? Doesn't that make Trump a coward and a traitor? In that scenario Trump was actively working against and undermining the true patriots trying to save our country.

If Trump was lying about election fraud, he is a tyrant who should be impeached. If he was telling the truth (and then stopped the citizens trying to intercede) he is a traitor and should be hung.

Like I said, I think he's a liar. Apparently, you think he is a coward and a traitor.

If you're stupid it does.

He wanted "peace in our time" so he sold us out. He was Neville Chamberlain.

Why is it okay to shame and threaten Pence for not being "strong" when Trump caved like a little coward in hours? If our whole country and Constitution were at stake (they weren't) then what Trump did was unconscionable and unforgiveable. He sold you out to the ChiComs.

Article 2, Section 3 of the US Constitution says "... Chief Justice shall preside...".
I am not an attorney, however, it says "shall" not "may" or "can". It sounds to me like a requirement of the proceedings.

I understand that. So is this, then, the proper venue for a "trial". I am just asking cuz I don't know the answer

The Constitution says that “When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside.” Trump is not President.

That's what makes it a circus, from the get-go. Not even the appearance of legitimacy. Impeaching a non-office holder. The Framers didn't talk about who would preside over such a "trial," because the whole idea is ridiculous.

Republicans could impeach Al Sharpton, or any number of people, for their violent talk. But Republicans are serious, responsible people, so that's not going to happen. This is an exercise in hate and nothing more.
